Ab-Soul - Herbert
75

This is a good album, and it has a really strong first half. It’s just disappointing coming from someone as talented as Soulo, especially after so long. Lots of filler in the middle but it starts and ends strong.

Jay Electronica - Act II: The Patents of Nobility (The Turn)
75

This is everything it was promised to be.

Denzel Curry & Kenny Beats - UNLOCKED

Madlib in a Kenny Beats mask

Mac Miller - Circles
95

This is what a posthumous record done right looks like. It’s obvious that everybody involved actually cared about the record and Mac’s legacy. Thank you Mac and thank you Jon Brion.

Eminem - Music to Be Murdered By

Dude literally got murdered by every feature

Earl Sweatshirt - Wind in My Sails

Possibly Earl’s best song

Earl Sweatshirt - EARL

Original score: 78

This tape already sounds so outdated, but it keeps some points for nostalgia

Young Thug - JEFFERY

Unpopular opinion: RiRi is the best song on here.

Danny Brown - uknowhatimsayin¿

Anybody who was hoping for AE 2 will be disappointed. That being said, if you went in expecting some good fuckin music, Danny delivered exactly what you wanted.

Post Malone - Hollywood's Bleeding
70

Dude’s getting better

Lonzo Ball - Born 2 Ball
99

Triple B’s babyyyyyyy

Lil Tecca - We Love You Tecca
60

Pretty much exactly what you’d expect. The lyrics are quite lacking at times, but its not like he claims to be a great lyricist or anything.

Artists like Tecca work much better in small doses imo. A couple singles here and there is fine, but an entire album of him is just boring.

Though a little repetitive, the production is solid and pretty consistent, which saves my score a little bit.

Overall, this album simply feels like the same song packaged in 17 different ways. It’s a ... read more

Young Thug - So Much Fun

Not nearly as experimental as some of his other work, but I wasn’t really expecting that heading in. Despite its length, this album doesn’t really drag at any point. There is a bit of filler on here, but that’s to be expected of a 20 track album. At the end of the day, it was a fun listen. So much fun.

Chance the Rapper - The Big Day

Y’all are going crazy with ur ratings

This isn’t nearly as bad as it’s current user score would suggest, but it’s still a little disappointing that Chance went from dropping 2 of the 10 best mixtapes of the 2010s to this.

If he had trimmed some of the tracks off of here and limited it to say, 12 tracks, this could be a really great album. Lots of great ideas here and there, but the project as a whole is kind of lacking.

Rich Brian - The Sailor
89

Rich Brian might’ve just dropped the album of the year.

Lil Nas X - 7
80

This is good. Like, actually.

Tyler, The Creator - IGOR
90

Holy shit.

This is like a blend of Flower Boy and the best parts of Cherry Bomb.
What I mean by that is that when the album approaches Cherry Bomb territory, the mixing remains on point and doesn’t sound too crowded. Tyler’s voice is never drowned in the mix.

The production is amazing, as usual. There are moments of sheer beauty on this thing, specifically on A BOY IS A GUN and I DON’T LOVE YOU ANYMORE. Was getting heavy Kanye vibes from the former as well.

Eminem - Relapse

Eminem’s most underrated album. Easily the best project of the latter portion of his career.

Yeah just listened again this shit is still weird as hell
