Edit: (98 -> 100): My truth. The definition of music not having to be like the most insane or "deep" thing ever to be perfect, fresh, meaningful, and more. Also no one will admit it but the last song is literally a post-rock song, on an afrobeat, rnb album. Thats insane. This album just makes you feel fucking sexy like. Straight out of the shower STEAMING sexy. Makes you feel like the most desirable person on the planet and fuck it we need more of that. Amaarae just has really ... read more
Psychedelic mind bending thought provoking maze of sound and poetry.
Edit: (90 -> 92): I keep coming back a year later. One of the best alternative, abstract rap albums ever.
Great Beats. Great Rhymes. Very plane vibes. The Danny Brown feature is amazing.
Edit: (92 -> 100): One of the my favorite albums of all time. The production truly sounds like no other. Like a junkyard come to life to soundtrack the most in depth study of colonialism in hip hop poetry. Truly has a sound of makeshift on the corner music. Somehow captures the old school style of hip hop sampling and yet feels incredibly acoustic and natural like listening to, again, street music. There's so much detail and texture in everything.

Absolutely KILLER. Moor Mother and billy woods is the greatest combo EVER. A Must Listen for hardcore alternative hip hop. Some of the coldest beats and hardest rhymes the two have ever offered
Some of billy's best tracks. Some more baseline cuts to fill the gaps. Absolutely brutal on some of these tracks though. Bigfakelaugh has one of the absolute best beats wood's has ever rapped on. Red Dust is so apocalyptic, makes me feel like the world has ended and nothing is left but billy walking around a wasteland
a much more mild version of billy's typical formula. Lowkey beats with not much special. Lyrics on point as always
Less great bops on this one then their past work. Production just isn't quite as engaging on some of the cuts. Still has their classic humor and chemistry though.
super texture-y, cool to see Ryuichi getting into some noisier sounds. Some interesting introspective ideas too. Falls to the typical issue with his albums imo which is a slight lack of ambition with sounds he's working with
one of the greatest electronic music albums ever made
A cool fore into R&B with somewhat mild results. I just don't feel that more funky experimental electronic vibes that make Ryuichi's work really fun for me
