‘There was no other sound. The garden was empty. He had come, thought Honda, to a place that had no memories, nothing.’ - Yukio Mishima
I think Merzbow has made some of the best meditative music I've heard in quite some time. I know that sounds dumb, but let me explain.
Disclaimer: Obviously I am not an expert on Buddhism or anything related to religion that isn’t ‘Westernized’ to some degree, nor am I the best to talk to about meditation practices with, so take ... read more
How to recontectualize a song about an abuser killing his abuse victim to a power anthem against abusers in one simple step:
Step One: Neo-Classical Darkwave with Noise Production
Holy FUCK.
Eli be naming tracks like ‘bhyucfefhjbcehjb_th{e 3IrD|||’
Elitimesfour is an up and coming electronic artist from the Britlands, who, while i’ve known them for being a pretty nice and energetic person, has also been impressing me with the sheer talent they show at their music. Their side project ‘L.F.F.’ is far more interesting and engaging then it really has any right to be, so hearing that Eli was going to be giving their ALL to this main solo record was ... read more
BAND BINGE: ARCTIC MONKEYS (PART 6IX OF 12ELVE)
Zzz...zzz...zzz….
GAH, HUH, WHA...Oh, shit sorry guys, I fell asleep. God...what the hell was I listening to?
Anyway, Arcti-YAAAAAWN-Arctic Monkeys, after Humbug, were in a spotty place in their careers. Coming off of one of the most experimental albums in the bands discography, departing the bands more energetic soundscape for a much more dense, theatrical and hazy production style, the bands careers were back to square one in a strange ... read more
Mr Cicierega, I have one question to ask you: Why do you like the suffering of others?
Fresh from the deep dark pits of hell emergence one of my most anticipated realeses of the year: a horrifyingly good brand new ‘Mouth’ record titled ‘Mouth Dreams’, an addition to internet gremlin Neil Cicieregas annoyingly excellent mash-up/plunderphonic series meticulously designed to make the listener of the record angry as all hell, mashing up artists like Smash Mouth, Blink-182 ... read more

World Music Jazz Punk Moment.
There are very rarely albums that just come around that I immediately am really interested in from the premise alone, but there was something about Moa Anbessa that I was really looking forward to. Just from genre descriptors alone (Ethio-Jazz and Art Punk?) I was at the very least INTERESTED in this album and how it would sound. It seemed like two worlds colliding in a way that I normally am not accustomed to. How the hell was this gonna work?!
Obviously jazz ... read more
Joji. Please work with me here!
I feel in the music community, there is always one question people have when talking about Joji: Can he do it? Not to say that he’s untalented, or unworthy of making great music, but there is this strange pressure given to the man's music that I have rarely seen on other artists. There is almost this expectation that he needs to quote ‘prove’ himself to people as an artist, which is strange considering he’s proven himself to make some ... read more
“I'll be your hammer
I'll be your nail
I'll be the house that allows you to fail” - Joe Talbot, 2020
At the best of times, the world is a dark, bleak place that seems to trade compassion and earnestness for cynicism and deceit. Happiness, when one can find it, is something that not many people tend to achieve long term, as sad as it may seem. “The world is a vicious place” is a term i’ve heard all my life, and frankly it's a phrase that scares me half to death. ... read more
(Imagine this review with a blue border...)
Hey all! Pipe here! I’m being held hostage! Again!
For some reason, every Tuesday, a bunch of vicious Microphones fans come to my house and demand that I get into their vehicle otherwise they’ll kill me and my entire family. The same thing happens when I order Taco Bell from UberEats but i’d like to think that this group isn’t going to watch me force-eat a Crunch Wrap.
So, i’m just sitting here, waiting for Rob ... read more
STORY REVIEW: Here is another story based on Lemon Demons Spirit Phone, in collaboration with @Toasterqueen12!
Foreword by Toasterqueen12: Jerry R Morgan, a 41 year old landlord from Paris, Texas walks onto the sidewalk outside Miami International Airport, ready to start his early retirement. Yes, Jerry R worked hard for this. With his sole purpose in life to amass wealth, armed with only his wits and his father's large inheritance. Jerry R worked hard, hoarding resources and renting out his ... read more
BAND BINGE: THE STROKES (PART 21ENTYONE OF 21ENTYONE)
Stakes for this album were high. Like, really high.
Not only was this technically going to be a quote on quote ‘comeback record’ for the band (after reception for Comedown Machine wasn’t great and the band just decided to take the rest of the decade off to focus on touring and making solo records) but it also stood as a deciding point to weather the band SHOULD continue in the first place. Reactions to their last album ... read more
BAND BINGE: THE STROKES (PART 20ENTY OF 21ENTYONE)
I’ve had it. The Strokes solo material are some of the most maddening records i’ve ever had to write for.
Sure, there is The Voidz, but my god there is nearly nothing else to me that makes me excited, that makes me interested, that makes me want to listen to it again. It’s music that I forget in a split second after I have listened to it. And trying to pump out what I think about it? It’s maddening.

BAND BINGE: THE STROKES (PART 19NETEEN OF 21ENTYONE)
It’s literally the same album as the first CRX album but with synths, better guitar work and more boring songwriting. It sounds a lot more original than that first album...but in return it's also a lot less engaging. That’s it. Couple of good songs here and there, but much like the first album, I have literally nothing else to say.
Just listen to Devo nerds.

Oh, it’s gonna be like that huh?
Look, before I go on: Just listen to this album. It’s some of the most euphoric sounding electronic rock you’ll hear all year. If your a fan of acts like Radiohead or just want to see what the fuss is about with this band, this album should be right up your ally. Just listen to it.
That being said...goddamn!

Punk isn’t dead, it’s just hiding in plain sight. Take, for example, Virtue.
To say I was anticipating this listen was an understatement. After two albums of pure, unadulterated filler with ‘Summer Moon’ and ‘Francis Trouble’, I was on the edge of my seat wondering what direction Julian Casablanca (now just calling his solo gig The Voidz after 'initiating him') would take for this album. I absolutely ADORED ‘Tyranny’ (as you may know) and from ... read more

What do you say about an album that says nothing?
Unspecial or passable music I feel is so much harder and more aggravating to talk about in a review context then truly bad music. That feeling of pure nothingness when you listen to music, neither stuurring disgust or excitement, is one of if not my least favorite feelings when listening to music, because it conjures exactly that: nothing. What statement can I give to albums that give me ... read more
STORY REVIEW: (This is less a structured review with points to make and more a writing piece inspired by Everyday Robots and its themes in regards to love and technology. I know this style isn't liked by all, but I do hope to get something out of writing this, even if it's not the best use as a 'review'. I implore you to check this album out though, as it has some amazing musical moments that make me almost tear up at times. Hope you enjoy it!)
