Y'all got the PS5, I've got CINEMATIC EMPOWERING INDUSTRIAL!
Goddamn! This thing is so good! What the hell!
So Jehnny Beth is an artist that I've admired from afar for a pretty long while. While I still need to listen to those Savages albums, her aura and overall presence in the music world has always been admired by me, especially after hearing her Amazing collaberation with Gorrilaz a couple of years ago. However, I sadly just haven't actually sat down and listened to some of the best of ... read more
BAND BINGE: THE STROKES (PART 8IGHT OF 21ENTYONE)
After walking for 3 hours, I've decided that this album is the deffinetion of Meh.
First, a bit of context.
So I'm now in film school now, right, meaning that now I am required to gofrom the beautiful yet extremely racist town that I won't disclose on the internet on an half an hour car ride to Napier. There are a few busses that'll take you to Napier (about two or three) and they work fine.
The bus back TO town, however, is an entirely ... read more

Writing a review for this album shouldn't be this hard.
Seriously, I've tried 5 times to write this review, and I seriously have nothing to talk about, even though I'm interested in the project in question! I genuinely do like this album, so Why!?!
Maybe a breakdown of what this album will help? Basically, this is an instance of bedroom-prog-pop, a completely original genre take that I honestly really am interested in. It takes the production of Car ... read more
FUCK THE USA, ONETWOTHREEFOOOOOOUR!!!
Goddamn this song is so much goddamn fun! Mr Bungle have always been one of my favorite bands of all time, so to see them come back this strong and this blunt is so so so so so so so so SO gratifying to listen to. Having Mike Patton scream his gourd out about the US is something absolutely what I needed to hear, and it's such a punch to the face track that i'm left spinning every-time I listen to it.
Of coarse, it's a cover, but this did a lot with the ... read more
EDIT: If I'm being honest, I am no longer comfortable with this information being out in the public. Like, at all. Friends of mine who know of this account now say things like 'that's a Ken M moment' and I'm honestly a little embarrassed I even wrote this. However, I'm a strong believer that this review needed to have been written, otherwise I would have let these events swallow me whole. So, I'm leaving it up, but removing explicit details that were once in the original review. Hope this is OK ... read more
We needed this right now. (Written on the bus, we going raw)
Recently I've been feeling creatively bankrupt. Everytime I go to write something, I'm met with a burning sense of 'why bother'. The world is burning in a virus infested planet, with everywhere you go to turn you are met with the same cries injustice and pain that black people have been facing for so long that has now boiled up and purtruded like a sickening broth or the pig crap silo for The Simpsons Movie, and with a lack of ... read more

Jesus Fucking Christ.
I can't fucking believe this. All I can say is Jesus Fucking Christ.
So I can definitely say now that I have 1K on AOTY.org. Holy. Fucking. Shit.
I...I have no words. If y'all could see me writing this, then you would see a blob of tears and smiles. Even though I wrote the Crazy Frog part of this review like a day ago, in this introduction section...I don't know what to say.
There are countless fucking members, accounts, artists, albums, musicians and ... read more
BAND BINGE: THE STROKES (PART 7EVEN OF 2WENTY1NE)
Yep. I'm confused.
So I really don't know how to talk about this record. It's one of THOSE albums, an album that while you do like, is so weird and kind of odd that you really don't know how to describe it. And in all honesty, that's gonna be a theme for this review. I don't know how to describe this!
From a purely sonical standpoint, after Little Joy, Fabrizio Moretti (the drummer of The Strokes) decided '...Fuck it. I'mma be in Megapuss.', ... read more

I mean...sure, this was a bit of fun!
*gives it a 5.5*
Ok, let me explain.
This is probably the best of the quote on quote 'meme rap' style of comedy records that have been made under the Flex Entertainment name (sorry Brad and Sam). However, is it a masterpiece of comedic rap/trap rap that needs to be hails above all others and shown as a genuine project I can come back to? In all honesty...not really, but way more cohesive and fun of a project then ... read more
And with the bots...comes the fun police.
This is the fun police. I am here to tell you that this new Lady Gaga album could have been better. Stop having fun. This is...not...fun....Stop it......
Oh fuck it, I can't keep the charade up much longer! I liked this album, just a little!
Lady Gaga (even though my relationship with mainstream pop in my reviews has been...negative at best) is an artist that I really do genuinely love. Her presence, her live shows, her identity, her sound and ... read more

Yep. This is an ambient album alright.
Look, if i'm being honest, I don't have a lot to talk about. In fact, it feels like I have nothing to say about this album. Like...nothing.
This thing is definitely an ambient vibe, it has a few little ... read more

Damn...this is a tricky one.
Probably not gonna be a long review for this one because, half of the experience is actually finding out what these jokes are for yourself, so i'll keep this brief since I don't want to spoil anything. Call it a filler review, but seriously, you should listen to this album.
At first I didn't review this proper and did it as a comment because I wanted to avoid spoilers. But people can't like a comment so...repost!
OK, but I ... read more
BAND BINGE: THE STROKES (PART 6IX OF 2WENTY1NE)
Now THIS is what we call 'high tier background music'!
Going into this project, I legitimately didn't know what to expect. Interesting enough, this is the combination of a couple of groups, most noticeably The Strokes with drummer Fabrizio Moretti providing most, if not all of the music and lyrics of this record, along with Rodrigo Amarante (a Brazillian singer songwriter best known his band Los Hermanos), Binki Shapiro (a Los Angeles based ... read more
BAND BINGE: THE STROKES (PART FIVE OF 2WENTY1NE)
What the fuck was that?
I'm...very disappointed if i'm being honest. While I wasn't a huge fan of Albert's debut record, there was still a lot of good content on that record, with songs that I come back to a lot with memorable and catchy hooks with intricate and fun instrumentation. So, I did expect a degree of improvement. Maybe Mr Jr over here branches out into new sonical directions that he can't explore in The Strokes. Maybe he tries his ... read more
BAND BINGE: THE STROKES (PART 4OUR OF 2WENTY1NE)
Well. This is pleasant!
So this is the start of a pretty lengthy solo career for Albert Hammond, Jr, starting ever since FIOE did, in retrospect, not the greatest on release. After that album, the band took time to put their own solo careers in perspective, and see where they stood as individual artists. And so, this would essentially be the start to Alberts.
But...to say I didn't have high hopes for this album is an understatement. While ... read more
Wow! Super impressed!
While I wasn't hugely impressed with the debut single 'You Wonder If It Isn't All A Dream', I was intrigued in the Trainwreck project just by it's own originality in the AOTY sphere. An actual plunderphonic record? With effort? Akin to The Avalanches or John Oswald? And a monster based concept that has potential to be really fun? I'm more then down!
And...yeah! This single gave me a reason to be excited for the full album!
While some of the drum work at the start leaves ... read more

Yay! My ears are doing the good hurt!
I know everyone and their mother has said this, but I am no way a noise aficionado. To me, noise music is always more interesting when combined with other genres, as sort of a seasoning. It's core concept is great, but I just think that for me personally I love the soundscapes of noise as introduced into more conventional genres, because I'm not try and act like i'm a deviant of experimental music or anything because ... read more
Here come the Kid A comparrisons I guess.
What just happened?
No seriously, what just happened? Let's take you back BEFORE I listened to the album, where I felt terror. Pure unbridled terror.
I am, admittedly, a huge fan of The 1975. While Matt Healy can seem pretensious at times, I still love the bands blend of indie pop, indie rock, electronica, ambeint, jazz and all the other genres they try to tackle. They are, without a doubt, the band I WANT to be.
They are the band that just seem ... read more

Your goddamn right you read that rating right.
...Well, don't look at me like that! In all honestly, I should be looking at YOU like YOUR the weird one! I have never understood why people always shit on this album!
I'm not doubting that most people have a disconnect from this album when compared to the first two records though. While the first two records were 'intricate, quaint, complexly arranged, beautifully performed' pieces of garage ... read more

DISCLAIMER: This review is not self promotion. While I am appreciative of the praise this EP has been getting, and I do give positives to the sound that I am proud of in this EP, I have distanced myself so much from Goof EP since I released it that I honestly feel like I can view this critically without the context of when I recorded it. Another thing this isn't is me putting self importance onto this EP. My score reflects my actual thoughts listening to ... read more
