Yuju is the first ex-gfriend member to make her debut. Some excitement comes with that, to be honest. She was one of my fav members and her voice was the one I liked the most and recognized first.
To make <[REC.]> put a soft and husky voice on a bunch of sweet melodies, and on top of that adds a sort of bad girl touch, and you get this.
Unfortunately, nothing really stands out on this. I like the idea of the intro "Bad Blood", and wished they would have made a full song out of ... read more
Once again, fromis_9 doesn't miss! The group delivers 5 great songs to take us to their midnight party. The production is really clean and the title "DM" is such a bop. I should pay more attention to them I guess.
If I’m right, Yena is the 4th ex-iz*one member to make her solo debut. As someone who didn’t really follow iz*one and didn’t know much of the members or about them, Yena was still one of the few I knew and liked. So so far, she’s the solo I was the most excited about. When Everglow released <Last Melody> almost a year ago, it was rumored that she’d join them as they’re from the same company and most likely trained together in the past. Would have Yena ... read more
ENHYPEN comes back with their first repackage album, which completes <DIMENSION : DILEMMA>. With this project comes 2 new songs and an outro.
The title "Blessed-Cursed", starts where the previous album left us, a pop-punk song. And this time it's done it much better way than it was on <DILEMMA>, thanks to great guitars and a thick beat.
The second track "Polaroid Love" is completely different from the title. ENHYPEN swaps the raw sound for something light, sweet, ... read more
I thought I already rated/reviewed this but apparently nope so I'm doing it now as I'm listening to it right now. I don't get why this has a red score right now? I love the idea of the whole SM Town thing itself and it's been a while since they released an album like this and I wish they would do it every year or 2. Like I'd kill for JYP to do the same and get SKZ and Itzy to do a song together and then they perform together and then it becomes the most impressive performance because anyone who ... read more
Wooah it's my first time instantly liking a woo!ah! song. It's really fun and has a touch of retro to it with the drums, bass, the guitars in the pre-chorus, and the synth that joins everything in the chorus.
Given the concept, I thought it was just going to be another noisy girl crush song, and I'm relieved it's not. It's actually a nice song that has a sort of elegant feeling to it, despite the whole sports vibe. I also find the concept original and they pull it off in a very nice way, usually, when a girl group goes for a sports concept they end up as a cheerleader, but not the cool ones that do acrobatics and stuff, so it's just kinda meh. Here's it's not the case.
I like their voices as well ... read more
This wasn't what I expected at all from an AleXa song. With "TATTOO", she swapped her usual strong, powerful, and girl crush sound for something lighter, more pop, and western-like. It's basic and will probably appeal to a wider audience, mostly international which is probably the goal as she is more popular in the US than in Korea. We'll see where does she go from here.
Those 2 songs are genuinely good, it's so fun and well produced. It's a cute concept done well, as expected of WJSN's sub-unit, Chocome. You have no idea how much fun I had watching the MV and listening to the song for the time. If you're having a bad day, this is the cure to all your problems. I don't think they're trying to much to be something they're not and the concept is really well interpreted by the members, Luda, Soobin, Dayoung and Yeoreum.
I enjoyed "Hmph!" as well, but my ... read more
Kep1er, the group made through MNET's latest survival show 'Girls Planet 999', is finally releasing its debut album, after being delayed once and almost a second time. I've watched all episodes, I lost hours of my life over this show, my phone got over-heated by the damn Universe app where I would vote for my picks every single day. I was so excited about seeing these girls I've been rooting for, make their debut. The project is composed of 2,5 new songs (depends if you count the intro as a ... read more
I watched the whole SM Live at 5am and at some point, I thought it wasn't worth it, but then I remembered about the Girls On Top (GOT) premiere and their performances towards the end of the show made me, almost falling asleep 10 times during SUJU's stages, worth it. The first unit of SM’s new project, which is a sort of mix between SuperM's combination of members from different groups and NCT's unit, mostly NCT U, as it doesn't have any fixed members and will change according to the song. ... read more
aespa does a nice job are giving a sort of second life to what probably has to be ly fav 1st gen songs (and one of the few I know :sob:). They bring their sounds to the original without making it lose its color and keep the elements that make the song that good.
My only concern is the way it starts with that very necessary rap, like really why would you do that, why do SM always find a way to ruin a part in aespa's songs. Hopefully this part is short and the second they start singing it gets ... read more
They asked for it and they got it!! I'm so happy to see my girls on a cute song, the proof they can also nail cute concepts!
As always, she did great! The melodies are great, the production is great, her voice is great, the lyrics are great, her personality is great, her stage presence is great, seeing her live in 2018 was great (yes i felt the need to mention this :) ). So this album is great. That's my great review of the great album by the great Angèle!
Okay in all seriousness, I actually do think this album is great!! No but really, it's a bit less pop-ish and fun than "Brol" because it has less ... read more
Here we go, the awaited debut single of Starship's new group, with IZ*ONE former members, An Yujin and Jang Wonyoung is here. And well I expected better from a company that has WJSN under their belt. With their debut IVE is doing what most new girl groups are doing now, quirky girl crush without anything that really makes them different from the rest. It's a fine debut that is still nice enough to make the people who stanned the group prior to this release stay with them.

This is Everglow, the best way to describe this mini, is by calling it 100% Everglow. And the reason is that I think each song here is what made Everglow who they are, it's all of their previous sound in one package. The ballad with great harmonization (Back Together). The strong and powerful song with its catchy lines and bass (PIRATE). The somewhat 80's disco-inspired track and its groove (Don't Speak). The experimental and quirky song (Nighty Night). And the like-it-or-not loud noisy track ... read more
Hwasa delivers a great single album and 3 nice rnb songs that all bring their own energy to the project.
"FOMO" opens the single and grabs your attention quite quickly, the beat switch totally changes things as we go from a hard beat to something very sweet.
Then, the title track "I'm a B" is quite upbeat and more pop. The song really takes you with it from the beginning with a catchy beat and the pre-chorus and chorus make you want to stay in the song for another round. ... read more
After being silent for a year, Weki Meki is back, and we're happy to see them again to remind us that they exist. And the wait was definitely worth it, the group offers us 6 songs, and all of them are really good. 3 out of 6 have the potential to be title song (including the TT in those 3) and the 3 others are by no means bad songs and are great b-sides that brings more diversity to the sound while keeping the same color, and that's why they're such nice b-sides.
The title track ... read more
