After the deception we kind of all felt regarding the previous single "Lost Cause", Billie Eilish comes off bold again with a dark song. It feels mysterious and she shows strong vocals towards the end, after singing with her well known quite and intimate tone.
The production is done so well, a short simple melody a bit detuned, dark bass, wide vocals. The chorus intru is the highlight for me, with that dark warm synth I love.
This makes me feel better about her sophomore album, it ... read more
With this project, I think Soyeon secured her place as one of the best 4th gen rapper. She doesn't take too much risk but doesn't fall into a too generic hole either. It may lack some cohesiveness but her rap versatility kind of makes up for it.
The title track "Beam Beam" is solid and doesn't sound cheap, I found it quite refreshing and catchy with some nice production elements.
Now for the next of her debut mini-album, Soyeon shows a good range of topics and sounds, from the bright ... read more
This might not be as good as the group previous title song "After School" from 'We Play', but Weeekly still find a way to bring fresh air into k-pop.
This slaps so hard, it's like a mix of some kind of an old french song (dk if this makes sense) and the hyperpop meets rap sound. After following her for a few years now, I'm glad to see her coming up with a new sound identity that doesn't feel like something already done before.
After 8 months, LOONA is back, but not only LOONA, no. HASEUL IS BACK, JO HASEUL IS BACK!!!
And they're back with a very good project as a whole, while I found the title a bit deceiving, the b-sides definitely make up for it. The title just doesn't really sound like it belongs here but more in [#] as I find it close to "So What" in the chorus mostly. But then as I said the b-sides are really great to me and I enjoyed each of them a lot! I know many people were perplexed after [#] and ... read more
I do think it's a good song but then it also feels like its sound wasn't pushed enough. In the way that at some moment I'm like if they just added that, it'd bring more content and changes to the song and would make it better and complete, like if they forgot the details that makes a good song a great song.
I still appreciate it but I'm waiting for more.
i genuinely didn't know this was from tiktok and just learned it now by seeing the reviews here
You are my champagne, my wine I drink with my eyes
My tequila, margarita
Mojito with lime
Sweet mimosa, pina colada
I’m drunk in you
I’m drunk in you
When you start an album with such a great opener, you need strong tracks to follow the quality and that was the case all along with the project, from soft and quiet songs to angry and loud ones. We have everything we need in a great record.
It’s the calm after the storm and then the storm after the calm, or both within one, and that makes the album a kind of cohesive roller-coaster you want to ride again and again.
‘Blue Weekend’ is what a changing and fascinating world would ... read more
I liked the first 3 tracks but I found the last 3 songs not as good.
MAMAMOO delivers here a very good project filled with warm and powerful ballads. It’s the proof that great ballads don’t need fancy sounds and that a piano, some strings and nice beat that comes at some parts in all you need when you have great vocalists. Each track proves the group's ability to use their voice perfectly, from warm and low tones to high and powerful notes.
Well idk too much about this one, I'm usually super hyped for anything concerning Billie, but here I must say she got me used to better. It feels like elements are missing.
Maybe this should have been used as a filler instead.
TXT comeback with a strong project that breaths their ADN while bringing new elements into it and making some brave moves, something we see less in k-pop.
It starts with the nice ballad "Anti-Romantic" and that's rare, it's filled with some glitchy sfx which I appreciate as I think it fits them. The title track is a very good one and Seori's voice totally fits this and plays a real role in bringing texture and quality to this song. "Magic" is another song on the same track ... read more
JOY's debut, 'Hello' is a great EP filled with a pleasant and lovely atmosphere.
Each track brings something different and has that one element that makes them differ from the rest which is essential when you want a project with the same color and songs that aren’t all the same to the point nothing stand out. “Hello” with its clear jazz influence (which is present along with the album in some way but mostly here), “Je T’aime” plays the role of the comforting ... read more
How wasn't this already on aoty? I've been in love with this song for so long and finally decided to log it here.
It's so peaceful and raw I just really really like it.
She's back with another great punk-ish tune! It's true that the chorus feels somewhat off, but it also brings a sort of contrasting part to sing along to.
It starts off as kind of simple but the production gets better quickly and take us to the end of the song where Conan shows his vocals more.
