there u go, itzy made me cry, i hate being a kpop stan
No, but really, itzy are often mentioned for their great dance skills and performances, but it's nice to be able to appreciate their vocal skills more. The last 2 track on 'Not Shy', were already a step into that road and I'm glad to see even more!
PS: If we get the combination of vocals as good as here, and dance performance like they know how to do, in their upcoming comeback, we will witness something big, trust me.
That’s what I call a very nice debut! We discover a group with warm vocals (which of course reminded me of Mamamoo as they’re both from RBW). Production-wise, it’s quite dark and some songs have elements that made me think of Billie Eilish, which isn’t a bad thing at all!
The problem for me is that it fails to be consistent, some songs don’t fit with the others, or they go well with one but not the others, etc. and it does affect the overall feeling we have when ... read more
After years of waiting for it, it’s here! Rosé’s debut is here!
“On The Ground” just like “Gone”, feels so like her, it’s not BLACKPINK, it’s ROSÉ, and the difference is clear.
What really defines the sound of ‘R’, is the distinct indie sonority of the guitar with the tremolo. It’s worth noticing that there aren’t that many instruments here, and this is mostly true with the B-Side she premiered on “The ... read more
lmao i genuinely wonder in what way this project is boring, it's super fun and quite creative imo. like please if you're calling this boring i rly need you to explain why you found it uninteresting because i simply can not comprehend rn
“Serotonin”, Marie’s opening song of 2021, comes with the official announcement of her debut album ‘if i could make it go’.
The song starts off with a nice guitar and is followed by an 808. From the start we can tell this won’t be your typical girl in red song, we get the wide vocals commonly used by her in the chorus but switch to quite centered ones in the verse with a production that differs a lot from her usual sound.
To me, the song has 2 distinct ... read more
There are not a lot of actual reviews on music from newer groups but I must say that this release made me want to dive deeper into the song and take the time to do a short review.
First of all, I must say this changes from the sounds of most of the ggs who debuted in the last 2 years and that are already quite popular (secret number, woo!ah!, cherry bullet to name a few). By that, I mean that we are getting away from the very pop sounds with loads of small elements going on and girl crush or ... read more
I'll do a more in-depth review when I'm less busy with school work but I just want to say how great this is. Making a 1h long album that doesn't make you want to listen to something else 1/3 into it isn't that easy, but here, Chung Ha makes me want to listen to this a whole hour again. I've learned to love her more due to her recent apparition on the show "Running Girls" (along Sunmi, Hani, YooA and Chuu) and knowing what she had to go through and is going through, makes me very proud ... read more
It's a nice DREAMCATCHER release, despite not going too far from their usual sound and the classic k-pop structure, they still managed to bring new elements into their identity.
First, what is this intro, I'm sorry but I think that's one of their worst. Anyway moving on to the title track "Odd Eye". It's very good and I loved to hear Dami's singing. The pre-chorus brings nice variations into the song and I appreciated the overall atmosphere of the song.
For the b-sides, nothing too ... read more
I don't have words to describe this song, it's quite obscure and fits both of their voice perfectly. The production is remarkable and my only wish is that they went further with the weird sounds and autotune (like it could have ended in a super chaotic way or sth idk). As a long-time Billie stan, I can tell you that I've been waiting so long to finally see them releasing a collab and I am very happy to finally be able to listen to it.
My first time listening to Lexie Liu after hearing her on K/DA's "MORE". She's the kind of artist I wish I came across earlier because woah this was so good. It's a quite "atmospheric" album, by that I mean wide sounds and synth, some nice ear candy here and there, and well-mixed vocals with reverb but not to an annoying extent and in a way that it adds to the overall production.
From the too short "Nada" with a very present 808 to slower tracks like "Hat ... read more
The main issue with this EP is that even if most of these are good, or at least not necessarily bad, songs. They all tend to be more or less boring with the exception of "Can't You See Me" and "Eternally". I still didn't hate any of the tracks tho and even found some nice production and arrangement choices.
It kind of reminds me of some of dua's work on future nostalgia which I enjoy. Plus, it's also really catchy so yeah, I'm here for it.
I'm still confused about the hype about it, I mean "rElAtBLe" I guess, but it's not bad and the vocals are good good so I don't mind it. The production is quite basic and so are the lyrics but well, if it works well that way then, why not? And as I said the vocals make up for it. Also, it's quite unusual to see a 4 minutes song going viral that quickly so good job on this one! Maybe this will encourage more young artists to make longer songs and stop with the 2 minutes loop.
For TREASURE's debut album, we get the previously released singles, which were all somewhere between disappointing and fine, as well as 4 new tracks that are good for the most part.
As I just mentioned, I think the new tracks here are better than what they previously showed in their 3 singles. However, it still doesn't make up for it as they often suffer from the same problems as those tracks. By that, I mean a lack of originality and surprise. We always get the exact same structure to the ... read more
Before going into it, I went back to "Hann (Alone)" as Soyeon advised fans to do before listening to "Hann (Alone in winter)", "Hwaa", and the rest of the project. First of all, I want to mention the fact Soyeon, leader of the group, wrote either alone or with another person each track, she produced/co-produced half the songs, Minnie prod/co-prod 2 and Yuqi one. And that's something not that common in k-pop (even we can see some changes it's never to the same ... read more
