band who pioneered the emo revival return with a new record to push it further . crazy
pre-ordered this on tape but never rated it !! opener was also the lead single for this and it has some sinister guitars and vocals that sound like a bloody acid reflux .
this band is a self-proclaimed emoviolence band but the songs are quite long for emoviolence LOL which is an odd thing to point out i guess but its more typical of this genre to have fast-paced guitars and songs that barely scrape a minute, sometimes reaching two . this record is one of deep and intense emotional turmoil ... read more
never had such an aggressively "75" album and matty healy didn't even touch it
this goes into the subcategory of "uplifting emo" with the likes of "somewhere city" by origami angel as the best example, though, what makes somewhere city so special is that it reinvented midwest emo to be this uplifting genre when previously it was practically the incel music of the 2010s . parade! parade! is no math rock revolution but aren't we amphibians has shown that ... read more
a diy/lofi-sounding emo record . proper reminds me of 80s/90s garage one-summer bands between friends and while i'm not a huge fan of the sound i do think it is another time where it adds to the charm of the project . this is a promising EP
the strongest track on here is daisy but i've no particular favourite . the low budget sound feels as if it works best with slower, and whinier perhaps, songs than the more fast paced and energetic attempts . or maybe that's just my ... read more
coming back to this as i do a few relistens on christmas . i have an im sorry emil tshirt ive worn like every week since i've gotten it, got this on cassette, have the emilifting cd . i think it's safe to say i'm sorry emil might be my favourite band at the moment .
screamo and midwest emo have got to be the most tried and tested blend of genres in the past few years and yet im sorry emil have managed to make a self titled record that sounds refreshing and energetic which fits ... read more
i can't stand the awful filter on his voice . i don't know what vibe he's going for or why he thinks reworking the latest viral tiktok slideshow textpost will pass well as lyrics but this is just bad, boring, bland, i'm sure many other negative adjectives i'd rather not spend more time on this album writing about
a short'n'solid diy winter skramz project . quite basic, yes, but it packs quite a bit for only standing at ten minutes
liam mccay has decided he is tired of duster and has moved onto appropriating midwest emo and indie folk .
this is exceptionally well-produced and not even half bad . he definitely leans into the "sad" aesthetic which feels corny to even say but it feels to be the only way i could describe producing music that specifically tries to sound like how tear-y eyes feels .
he does return to his "slowcore" roots on the single song of "turn around" which manages to not ... read more
pissing i tried to delete my rating 2 change it from 87 to a 90 and accidentally deleted my review LMAOOO
i cant remember what i wrote before so i guess i will be saying that i've decided this is peak christmas emo
side a: i hope so. - 65
side b: old pride - 72
overall : 68
ive said this is an album that means too much for me to review but i guess i wanted to write something for now .
i moved away from my insanely abusive family september 2024 and realised just how much that environment distressed me when for the next few months it felt like my brain was melting into sludge . i listened to this album with wanting something not too heavy but not too boring ether and forgot how much i adored it . it was another wet and dark night in october when i had reached the ... read more
an album that describes my upbringing (or lack thereof) and what it has felt like to just spend my life behind a fucking computer screen . i don't know what about this project exactly captures that for me but it's all that flashes through my head with "lonely boy goes to a rave" and then "haunt me (x3)" is a song i had on REPEAT for the entirety of my nineteenth birthday which i spent wandering around a tescos and trying to convince myself it was worth buying a ... read more
this has a unique sound palette and jane remover is the known master of managed audio overload
started using tidal in september and this was my top album LOL
slayyyter's debut is no different in style to her other projects in that she really commits to the sound, style, and aesthetics when carrying out her artistic vision. "troubled paradise" is a product of the 2020/2021 tiktok/pandemic/e-girl era when bubblegum bass and hyperpop were flourishing. slayyyter managed to create one of the best "y2k" nostalgia mixtapes on her self-titled and it's no surprise ... read more
