Childish Gambino - "Awaken, My Love!"
70

"Awaken, My Love!" is a trip back to the 70's soul act that influenced many modern rappers such as Kanye, Kendrick, Tyler and mister Donald Glover. And this LP does feel from the past, it doesn't fit compared to other 2016 mainstream albums (considering this one had a lot of hits like: Me And Your Mama or Redbone), and I love the fact that it has this timeless feeling.
-
For me this is Donald's strongest album, musically and personally. On here he strengthens his voice range and ... read more

Imagine Dragons - Mercury – Act 2
10

Imagine Dragons released the sequel to their awful "Mercury Act I", is this one better, kinda. This one feels less worse than the first part, and there are many reasons for that, which I will develop on later in the review.
-
This LP is trash man, like I really think that this is one of the weakest albums I've heard in a long time. The performances are miserable, the vocals are cringe, the lyrics are generic and the production is messy. All of these awful stuff are why this album is a ... read more

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard - Omnium Gatherum
70

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard released this crazy album this year, I've got many opportunities to listen to it, and after a lot of listens and analyzing stuff on here, I've got the perfect conclusion for this long LP.
-
It starts off with a 18 minute suite called "The Dripping Tap", and honestly it took advantage of every second, it's interesting to the listener and it barely drags, which is damn impressive for a lot of runtime. This album is very diverse, it has metalish ... read more

Nilüfer Yanya - PAINLESS
60

The British indie pop artist "Nilufer Yanya" comes back with another LP, "Fearless" is a very strong project built off acoustic riffs and good composed basslines. This record is probably her best.
-
FEARLESS, is such a consistent record with an awesome feeling to it, I just love so much the vibe of this record, most of these "vibes" are pushed forward by the Melancholic guitar riffs and the vocals that have an beautiful final touch on the project.
-
This album is ... read more

Conway the Machine - God Don't Make Mistakes
70

On this new LP, Conway has expanded his musical reach, with different qualities that make "God Don't Make Mistakes" as one of the best albums of the year, and one of his or his strongest release yet.
-
I think that this album is strong, consistent and clever, it uses it's time and space for it's good, there is a lot consistency, and for the most important of all, the album is interesting to the listener. To me it feels very connected to the me, because the delivery is on point, the ... read more

Arcade Fire - WE
50

"WE" is the latest release by the well known Canadian indie band "Arcade Fire". This album works a lot of different sounds for the band, introducing dance pop elements or heavier synth selections, that certainly give a unique feeling to the album.
-
While it has many different traits than the other releases by them, "WE" isn't the most creative standpoint of their career, some songs are pretty generic and bland. At least the outstanding production helps the album ... read more

Genesis - From Genesis to Revelation
50

From Genesis To Revelation, the legendary band their not so legendary debut. This pop / rock album has barely any prog tendencies, and it has more soul aspects. That makes this album unique in their catalog. No Hackett and no Collins.
-
The production on here is messy, but what would you expect, it's a late 60's album. But in the Gabriel years many albums like Nursery Cryme or Trespass have a dirty production, that affects the final product.
-
For what this record is, there is certain ... read more

Faith No More - Angel Dust
90

Angel Dust opened new gateways for Faith No More, this is probably their most diverse record, it counts with very different songs, from heavy songs like Caffeine to Cheesy songs like Be Agressive. And that's why I love this album!
-
The atmosphere of the record reminds me a lot of Mike Patton's other band "Mr. Bungle", a song like RV, could emphasize on that. The band as a whole achieved to make better music and more artistic releases. I'm especially happy to see how Mike could change ... read more

blink-182 - Enema of the State
30

The famous pop punk band "blink-182" is a group I'm not a fan of. I really don't like the pop punk movement as a whole, I do admire some bands like Green Day or The Offspring, but I usually don't come back to these bands or albums.
-
I really don't like the vocals on the record, they feel to generic and annoying, and that's my main problem with the genre as a whole. Really the whole energy on here has this party feeling to it, which I think is outdated, and made this LP grow down with ... read more

Fiona Apple - When the Pawn...
70

When The Pawn... Is the most popular release by the New York artist Fiona Apple. She has a very consistent catalog of a lot of critically acclaimed albums like: Tidal or Fetch the bolt cutters. This one is also a cult classic and a very good release.
-
I like a lot the vibe of this album, and it mainly all thanks to the awesome vocal delivery that Fiona has, she feels so cool in a track like Limp, were she shows her vocal skill and creates an awesome and enjoyable tune all together.

There is ... read more

Taylor Swift - Red
30

Ok, so I know this review will be controversial, but I'll try my best to justify my opinion on this album. But really I can't stand some of the songs on here, they feel so damn cheesy and corny to me.
-
This was a complete let down, I came into the album excited that this would be her best release, since a lot of people give it so much hype, I kinda fell for it at the time, but it only cost me to get to the song "22". And then "Stay Stay Stay" like tf is wrong with that ... read more

Kate Bush - Hounds of Love
70

Miss Kate Bush, the queen of prog and her 1985 effort "Hounds Of Love". The famous pop album that influenced 80's music and changed the variety of it. We all know that this album peaked again in the charts thank to the lead single "Running Up That Hill" appearing as a song on the soundtrack on the 4th season of popular Netflix series "Stranger Things".
-
I really think that this record doesn't represent her musical characteristics as a whole, but I still appreciate ... read more

Genesis - Abacab
70

Abacab is were the switch in sound for Genesis finally happens. Tho it has similarities with Duke, overall this one felt way more contemporary and modern. An record like Abacab proves that Genesis never lost their prog sound and tendencies till they split up.
-
The overall theme of the record is very electronic (due to synth choices), and it set the sound for later records like the self titled or Invisible Touch. In comparation to Invisible Touch, this album feels really similar in terms of ... read more

Stone Temple Pilots - Shangri-La Dee Da
70

I'm a pretty big STP fan, so for me to enjoy this record wasn't hard at all. Shangri La Dee Da was at the moment their last record after being together for 11 years as a band. This album was intended to be a double LP, but was cut short to 13 tracks, which makes the album a consistent ride.
-
This album is still probably the cheesiest and less creative one, in terms of lyricism by Weiland, and that's the certain problem with the album, there isn't any poetic traits that made album like Purple ... read more

Radiohead - Pablo Honey
40

The divisive and controversial Pablo Honey. The album that made Radiohead a famous "One-hit wonder band" (at the time obviously). An LP carried by "Creep", the most popular song by Radiohead of all time.
-
This record is a pretty generic start to the band, there isn't bad qualities as a whole, but it doesn't feel special all together. The production works in favor to the record, letting the songs to have a way more accessible approach, I mean the songs could be way more loud ... read more

Kanye West - Donda 2
20

Hey guys back with another review and i'm gonna be talking bout Donda 2. This album is a breakup album with his ex Kim Kardashian, its kinda like an 808's part 2. True Love opens the album in a great way with a suprising feature of X, the song has practically the same beat as Runaway, it makes this song have a certain special feeling to it. Broken Roads witch is practically an interlude still slams that chill and heartbreaking vibes, until Get Lost ruins it for me, i mean what an annoying ... read more

Kanye West - Graduation
80

Graduation is the last album of Kanye's initial trilogy, that is one of the most critically acclaimed hip hop runs of all time. This record was a change for Kanye, his sound starts to include way more electronic samples and synths, which change the mood and vibe into a nostalgic one. Tho 808's would later emphasize on that sound and make it more melancholic.
-
Graduation & ye are both my most listened Kanye albums, they both incredible qualities that for me get them close to my heart & ... read more

Porcupine Tree - Closure / Continuation
80

I can't believe I'm finally saying this, Porcupine Tree, my favorite band of all time, came back after 12 years with this awesome LP! Closure / Continuation is the return of modern prog rock band Porcupine Tree, led by Steven Wilson, Richard Barbieri and Gavin Harrison.
-
It's been pretty well known that Colin Edwin is out of the band, and that Wilson took charges of bass player. Tho I miss Colin, Steven does an incredible job at replacing him. This album has 7 tracks and 4 of them were ... read more

The Smile - A Light for Attracting Attention
80

The Smile is the new form of Radiohead embodied into this band with a lot of the same attributes as their previous records. The sound that this project achieved is spectacular, the music is tense and engaging, just by the first track you're completely in touch with what this is.
-
While this album is from another project / band, the essence of Radiohead is the same one, and really captures well the whole journey of that band, with a lot of tracks having similarities with albums like, Amnesiac, ... read more

Black Star - No Fear Of Time
60

Ok so this album is very hard to listen to it, so I had to listen to it on Luminary. Which I just discovered. Black Star is the new very acclaimed album by rap duo "Black Star".
-
I found this album to be a fun experience, a very well produced one. This album has a lot of great moments that highlight the momentum of this band. It does a great job at doing abstract songs with an attractive sound that brings you into listening the album fully.

The basslines or here are great and allow ... read more
