alt-J - This Is All Yours
80

This album does not have the single power of their previous album. However, I can't deny it from being a quite decent album. Despite a couple weak tracks(Left Hand Free), the album moves with freedom, and shows that Alt-J isn't a band that sticks to one sound.

Leonard Cohen - Popular Problems
82

An impressive album by Cohen so late in his career. It was a musically, and lyrically sharp album. Cohen is one of the few long-time veteran musicians that continue to make quality music late in their lives.

Interpol - El Pintor
67

I just can't find myself loving this album. Interpol to me just can't capture the magic they had on Turn On The Bright Lights. A few good songs here, but the rest is honestly boring.

Death from Above 1979 - The Physical World
76

This is a pretty decent rock record. There are some solid tracks like Cheap Talk and Government Trash. However, there isn't something substantial that would make me consider it a great record. Nonetheless, this is an enjoyable record to listen to it.

Ty Segall - Manipulator
81

I have to admit that the only weakness of this album is that perhaps its too long. Besides that Ty Segall sounds as polished as ever. He brings you a diverse range of sounds in this album. This is one of the better albums Ty Segall has made.

Mick Jenkins - The Water[s]
80

I must say that I really enjoyed the overall concept of water in this album. Mick Jenkins seems to take a page out of Kendrick Lamar's book with this album, but the overall depth of his lyrics makes this an album that is hard to ignore. This is an exceptional hip hop album.

The Bug - Angels and Devils
70

This is your essential hit or miss album. There are great tracks like Ascension and Function. However, there are tracks that are terrible like Pandi and Fuck You. I just wish this album had more consistency because it does show some great potential.

Pallbearer - Foundations of Burden
78

Pallbearer construct a strong metal album. The lyrics revolve around death and isolation for the most part. However, when I listen to the album I can barely separate each song from the track list. Great songs are on this record, I just hoped that there was a little more diversity.

The New Pornographers - Brill Bruisers
78

This was a solid indie pop album. Strong lyrics with good tunes. However, there is nothing immensely memorable that comes from this record. Nonetheless, it's a nice record to listen to.

FKA twigs - LP1
93

FKA Twigs new album is a sincere beauty to listen to. It's a slow paced album but it definitely grows on you with each listen. Th albums feels sweet and sexy, but can also exhibit a strange, melancholic mood. The production on this album is phenomenal and collectively this is a deeply engaging album.

Spoon - They Want My Soul
83

The thin strikes me most about this album is its consistency. There isn't one serious flaw to this album and it moves at a very smooth pace. This isn't pushing the boundaries of rock music, nonetheless it still manages to be an outstanding rock record.

Shabazz Palaces - Lese Majesty
81

Lese Majesty is a sonically adventurous album that hip hop has never encountered before. I may not fully understand all the lyrics and what point of view Lazarro is trying to purvey. However, I can confirm that this a shot to the current self-proclaimed royalty of hip hop.

Alvvays - Alvvays
76

Lovely tunes throughout this album. however, nothing about this album sticks out to me. It's good music but I feel like I've listened to this album many times before already.

Sia - 1000 Forms of Fear
79

1000 Forms of Fear is a very solid piece of work. For the most part, Sia provides well-crafted pop songs that come equipped with her outstanding vocals. Outside of a few lackluster songs at the tail-end of this album, this is a really good pop album compared to Sia's contemporaries such as Rihanna and Katy Perry.

Open Mike Eagle - Dark Comedy
80

This is such an underrated hip hop album. I truly don't understand how this doesn't have more recognition. The album is satirical and funny but at the same time shows some heart. Definitely one of the best hip hop albums to come out this year thus far.

How to Dress Well - What Is This Heart?
80

How To Dress Well's album can put you to sleep, but if you give it a chance you'll leave no doubt thinking this is one of the best R&B albums of 2014. Gorgeous vocals along with some thought-provoking lyrics for music that is rather mainstream. Definitely, an album that grows with each listen.

Lana Del Rey - Ultraviolence
75

I have to say that for the first 5-6 tracks I found myself seriously liking this album. However, when I reached the middle portion of the album( Fucked My Way To The Top, etc. ) I wanted to throw up. The album thankfully survives with a very strong final two tracks. Lana Del Rey is showing some serious promise, and hopefully she will make an album that I will enjoy in its entirety one day.

White Lung - Deep Fantasy
82

These are 22 minutes of hard-punching fun. Not really any huge surprises, White Lung just brings a vicious energy for the entirety of the record. It's a bold album, that doesn't try to boast.

Lone - Reality Testing
83

Although it is not as challenging as his previous album Galaxy Garden, this album is more cohesive altogether. This feels like a musical spaceship ride back into earth. The songs transition well together which makes this album more enjoyable.

The Antlers - Familiars
80

It takes some time and patience to enjoy the overall atmosphere of this album. This is slow-dance type of music. It can be gorgeous and beautiful, but sometimes the beauty can put you to sleep. However, I feel fulfilled by the completion of this album.
