Code Orange - Underneath
78

Every song on this album is good, although the second half is much weaker than the first. I also don't think the jarring transitions and pauses were executed near as well as they were in forever.
Highlights: Swallowing the Rabbit Whole, In Fear
Low Points: A Sliver, Underneath

Imagine Dragons - Thunder

I've always thought this was a bad song but I heard the instrumental of it and I have EVEN LESS respect for it now.

Fall Out Boy - Centuries

I don't care this shit is peak. Imagine Dragons WISHES they could make this.

August Burns Red - Found In Far Away Places
100

Found in Far Away Places is my second favorite album ever released. August Burns Red is well known as one of the most consistent bands in the metalcore scene, but this has led some to believe that they never evolve their sound or experiment. This album is proof that they do both. About half of the songs on this album blend metalcore with another completely different genre and even the songs that don't usually still mix up ABR's common song structures. The genre-blending songs are ... read more

Demon Hunter - Exile
67

Demon Hunter is the band that got me into metalcore and metal in general, and today they still remain one of my favorite bands of all time. This album was the first Demon Hunter album released where I was actually part of the hype cycle, and it is probably still some of the most hype I've had for any release ever, besides Death Below by ABR. So did it live up to that hype? Yes and no. There are plenty of songs on here that I consider really great and still listen to regularly today, BUT, ... read more

twenty one pilots - Overcompensate

pretty decent ๐Ÿ‘

Black Crown Initiate - Song Of The Crippled Bull
88

Really enjoyed this ep but honestly I think it could have had some more cleans because the singing parts were my favorites on the album.

Darkest Hour - Darkest Hour
63

This album feels like it's going for the same thing their newest album was, but it doesn't quite hit the mark the same. I enjoyed my time listening to this and there are some great tracks here, but I'm not going to relisten to the album often.

Demon Hunter - The World Is a Thorn
85

Some of Demon Hunter's best songs are on this album but there are also some tracks that miss.
Highlights: The World is a Thorn, Collapsing, Feel as Though You Could
Low Points: This is the Line, Shallow Warer, Blood in the Tears

Darkest Hour - So Sedated, So Secure
66

If this was the deluxe edition containing Bear Hunting USA it would be a 1000/100

Darkest Hour - Perpetual Terminal
98

I can't see another album topping this for my album of the year(Unless that project Adam D and Howard Jones are cooking up releases.) Songs on this album ranged from good to absolutely incredible. Absolutely something every melodic metalcore fan should check out. Upon relistens my thoughts have changed in both positive and negative wayd on different songs. Goddess of War, Give Me Something to Die For has become what I would consider to be my favorite Darkest Hour song, while other songs ... read more

Nik Nocturnal - Devour (feat. For The Fallen Dreams)
85

Doesnt sound exactly like KsE but still some great metalcore

Bloom - Maybe In Another Life
66

This is another metalcore album where the riffs can be great, but the clean vocals just don't hit most of the time. The album was still definitely enjoyable overall though, it reminds me quite a bit of Counterparts at times(although I definitely like Counterparts a lot more.) Originally I was going to give this a bit more of a negative score, but the strongest songs are all in the second half and changed my outlook on the album. All three of the last songs went really hard and then it just ... read more

Galleons - Violent Delights
66

This album had some really cool parts to it but it went on for way too long and the clean vocals didn't hit consistently for me. For an album to be nearly an hour long it needs to be like my favorite music ever and while this was certainly good, it wasn't good enough for the entire 58 minutes to hit.
Highlights: Kismet, Dungeon Dweller
Low Points: The Downtown Dinosaur Gang Pt. 3, Cashmere

Hand Of Juno - Psychotic Banana
60

A mixed bag of some really good stuff and some bad stuff. I ultimately enjoyed Destroy the Line enough to give the ep a positive rating bc that track in particular doesn't seem to fall to the same weaknesses the others do. I could see this group making some really good stuff in the future.

Norma Jean - Deathrattle Sing For Me
93

I saw this band live and Spearmint Revolt is the rawest fucking thing I've ever heard
Highlights: Spearmint Revolt, The Killing Word, 1994
Low Points: Penny Margs

August Burns Red - Found In Far Away Places (Deluxe Edition)

I LOVE FOUND IN FAR AWAY PLACES
I LOVE FOUND IN FAR AWAY PLACES
I LOVE FOUND IN FAR AWAY PLACES
I LOVE FOUND IN FAR AWAY PLACES

Bury Tomorrow - The Seventh Sun

"How could they do that to us?!" is now permanently engraved in my brain.
Highlights: Abandon Us, The Carcass King, Heretic
Low Points: Care, Forced Divide

"You can just explain why you don't like it without trying to undermine everyone who does. Just because it isn't as good as Jane Doe doesn't make everyone who loves the album a fake metal fan who gets their taste from Fantano. Personally I think this a great blend of their rawer mathier stuff and more atmospheric sludge metal tracks. I Won't Let You Go is one of my favorite Converge tracks because imo it has one of their most memorable riffs and I enjoyed the sludgey progression of other tracks such as Detonator. You don't have to like the album but the way you are talking in this review is just as pretentious as the hipsters you claim to hate."

"Glad you enjoyed this. People can say what they want about it being "another abr album" but if I go to a steakhouse I want a quality steak not something else to eat you get me. ABR have a distinct sound and I'm happy to hear more from them whenever they put something out, this may be a top 3 record from them."

On JoshStasz's review of August Burns Red - Season of Surrender
"@HomeSession3 I think there is a solid chance you enjoy it since you gave Phantom Anthem an 80. The melodic riffs are very reminiscint of that era of the band but executed a little better imo. It's definitely better than Guardians or Death Below at the very least, but to be fair I'm very biased towards this band in particular lmao."
On benny_hxc's review of Boundaries - Death will follow me
"I liked the song but yeah I miss the melodic riffs. Death Is Little More felt like an evolution on August Burns Red and Misery Signals while this feels more like what the rest of the metalcore scene is doing. I think they write good angry shit though so I'm ok with it. Plus I'll take it over the recent Dying Wish any day tbh."

"Highly recommend Axe To Fall. It's their most melodic album but it's still got the signature Converge chaos. All We Love We Leave Behind and No Heroes are also both great albums, and Bloodmoon is a really cool gothic metal project where they completely changed their sound up."
