Quadeca - SCRAPYARD
NR

Bro whatttttt I haven’t even heard Quadeca before and this is literally so good.
Really blown away by the pure talent this record shows. He masters so many different vibes across the album, it’s truly amazing. Like bro how is Guess Who? and U Try That Thing… even on the same album??? But somehow it feels cohesive.
Truly a W for alternative internet music i love it

Little Simz - Drop 7

Thank you Burial
All I wanna say.

Doja Cat - Scarlet

I think it's overhated...

Olivia Rodrigo - GUTS
NR

I think this is good pop. It literally just sounds satisfying. I've seen the argument made that it sounds too manufactored, and I can see where that comes from, but man... it just sounds great anyway.
I think though, that it gets too melodramatic sometimes though, and the themes in the songs are not very diverse. Though I do love when she begins singing about making up with our society's woman-stereotype

LCD Soundsystem - 45:33
NR

Wow. I've never heard people talking about this, but it's honestly fucking amazing. When I read that it was made for running, I was worried that it was too high energy all the way through, but dang, that closing part is so entrancing and beautiful. Didn't see that coming. Absolutely loving it.
Everything goes hard. Ironically, my least favourite part is the one they chose to reuse for 'Someone Great' on Sound of Silver. Highly recommend trying this one out - for me it's almost (if not) up there ... read more

LCD Soundsystem - Sound of Silver
NR

I just recently got into LCD Soundsystem, and I'm really happy that Murphy delivers such a unique sound. It's a blend I haven't really heard before of rock, dance (and a little bit of funk?). Very simple, but hypnotizing tracks with instrumentals that loop for a long time, but still has slight changes along the way to keep you invested.
Mostly this album is groovy, and having you bop your head like a maniac. But some tracks also has a melancholic feel to them - like Someone Great and the start ... read more

Danny Brown - Atrocity Exhibition
NR

This is one of my favourite hip hop albums ever.
It's so unique and boundarie-pushing. Everything about it is uniquely weird. The beats, his flows and his voice are all grim and twisted, combined to become this monster. It's a sonic world in its own that engulfs you in the darkness of his mind. A downward spiral of drug abuse.
But the cherry on top for me is that he adresses at the end, that even though he knows he's fucked up - deep in his own problems, he doesn't give up. Almost all of his ... read more

Travis Scott - UTOPIA
NR

On first listen, I have no idea what to say. Super dark and psychedelic. Gonna have to relisten

After a couple listens I have made myself an opinion.
I mean, it's super submersive and kind of feels like a sonic world in itself. The production is great. There's not a track I dislike in terms of production. (there are some mid ones tho)
It's just the lyrics that are dissapointing. It's mostly devoid of substance, and mainly brag. But when he actually tries to say something, it's almost always ... read more

JID - The Forever Story
NR

I heard this when it came out, and I didn’t understand the hype at all. Idk why it disn’t hit me back then. I really liked the first seven songs, but I thought it kinda fell off after that.

Now, almost a year later, I revisited it. And it suddenly clicked for me. I have no idea how i found the second half to be boring, this album is fucking lit the entire way through. It’s such a diverse sound pallette - you don’t know what’s coming up.
You have these mega-bass ... read more

Death Grips - Bottomless Pit
NR

Since this is my first DG review, I will be talking a lot about other things than this album.

When I first discovered DG, I didn't like their music at all. I saw the quality, understood why people would like it, but it scared me away. I kept coming back for some reason, and after some time I grew to like it. Not only their music, but everything about them. It fascinates me how someone can put so much effort into an art project and yet keep it so distanced from their own lives. These guys ... read more

Swans - The Beggar
NR

I have no idea what to say after first listen. I’m in my bed, just wondering what the fuck i just heard. Not that I don’t like it. I think most of The Beggar is immaculate.

The thing that confuses me is the structuring of the album. Some of the shorter songs feel, to me, as being a bit out of place, and sometimes the build-ups on them feel a bit rushed. I think some of these songs needed more time to grow.
Examples of this: Los Angeles: City of Death & Michael is Done

Maruja - Knocknarea
NR

Okay I was actually about to go to bed when I saw that this was only 22 minutes. I thought to myself ‘Whatever, let’s do it, it’s so short’.
That was an amazing decision.
Sitting in my bed and listening to this while it’s completely dark outside is one of the better experiences I’ve had recently. And damnit, now I’m getting even later to bed because this is too fucking good for not getting a review.

This is one of the best EP’s I’ve ever ... read more

JPEGMAFIA & Danny Brown - SCARING THE HOES
NR

Just heard it the first time. MATSTAHPIECE. MIND-MELTING.
This is the most experimental I have heard Peggy do productionwise, and oh my god I love it. It has a certain messiness to it that makes it a standout in Peggy's discography. This whole album is just them having a super fun time and simultaneously giving the world of music something that's never seen before. I've truly never heard anything like it.
I think this would sound like a mess if you aren't paying attention because of all the ... read more

Swans - Paradise Is Mine
NR

Tense and ominous music is what Swans does best. This is no exception, fantastic track, got me feeling like they were sacrificing a goat or some shit. The only critique I have is that it could use a more intense climax as a single, but you could hope it functions better in the context of the album. (I might just listen too much GY!BE tho)

Goddamn I'm really looking forward to the album

Godspeed You! Black Emperor - F♯ A♯ ∞
NR

The expanded version is a 10 for me. I think they added some of the best parts on later

Slowdive - Souvlaki
NR

This album is magical. It’s a 40 minute journey through the darkest parts of your emotional spectrum.
If you sit down, close your eyes, and just listen to this album, it will draw you in and won’t let go until it’s over. It’s dreamy textures makes it easy to get lost in.
I think there’s a strong feeling of longing in the album too. It’s nostalgic even if you have never heard it. It’s like being depressed and looking back on the best times in your ... read more

JPEGMAFIA - LP! (Offline Version)
NR

I respect the shit out of this man. When I listen to is music, I like to think about that he made it all entirely by himself. It's super experimental and Peggy clearly has an ear for detail. Almost every track is a banger in it's own right.
I'm looking crazy forward to the Danny Brown & Peggy collab that's coming up. Those two are a fun combination, I hope it's gonna work out
