"Recovery" is far too long and features Eminem using some of his most annoyingly staccato flows. However, I also think it shows an interesting amount of vulnerability from him that could've been refined if Eminem wasn't so willing to hide behind his usual edge lord material. I didn't end up hating this surprisingly.
Unfortunately, the end of Springsteens golden era is pretty obvious on this album. It isn't bad, but there are a lot of moments in which he is obviously trying to recreate his best moments. This is evident on songs like "Book of Dreams" which sounds like a "Tunnel of Love" B-Side and "Souls of the Departed", which is a mediocre attempt at the political songwriting he mastered on "Born In The USA". There are some good songs on here, the opener ... read more
This is the last album of Springsteens classic period that I'm hearing and I unfortunately think it's the weakest. The songs that try to go in a more traditional rock and roll direction don't work super well and the whole thing feels too bloated. There are some incredible songs here though, and this being the worst album of this era is a massive testament to how good Springsteen was.

A pretty solid collection of tracks. The best songs on here wouldve made for excellent additions to the original album, and combining the best of both tracklists creates a pretty definitive rage album. Really wish he didn't scream "IM NOT A F*****" on "FREAK NEEK" though.
EDIT 5-->8: I don't know what happened I listened to this last night and it clicked with me. I don't know if esdeekid is going to do much else after this but this is a great mixtape.
Original:
The first and the last track on here are very good. I don't get much from anything in between though.
JID is kind of in a tough spot since every one of his albums is going to be compared to "The Forever Story". Obviously "God Does Like Ugly" doesn't reach that extremely high bar, but if you don't go in expecting that it's a great rap album. The line on "YouUgly" about fans wanting to be record execs is so cathartic to hear btw.
A great collection of covers, Mavis Staples still sounds great at 86 years old.
Starts off pretty strong with Fergs energy and the Lex Luger production. Unfortunately, Ferg stops trying halfway through.
I have never understood the appeal of a mainstream pop artist less then I do with Jessie Murph. She can't sing, she can't rap, she can't write, she has no discernable talent. This is only not a straight 0 because the production is cool sometimes.
The Cribs are really underattedly influential. I hear a lot of the stuff Joyce Manor and Jeff Rosenstock would go on to make on here.
Pure emotional catharsis. Some amazing lyrics here, though I will say rhyming "empty nest" with "emptiness" is awful one of the worst rhymes I've ever heard.
A great instrumental bluegrass album that ends with one of the hardest hitting country songs of all time. Tyler Childers is one of the only artists in country music that recognizes it should be music for the disenfranchised.
While the band is still at times weighed down by their gimmick, "Another Seat at the Table" is a solid debut album and a nice progression from "Thank You, Sire!"
Very few albums are produced as creatively as this is. I really hope Jai Paul releases a full length project again one day, this time on his own terms.
The first half of the album is a bit inconsistent but the second has some of Springsteens best material.
