Super solid girst project from the goat JID and shows off a lot of his incredible lyricism from the get go. There's definently some low lights here but some great songs here that still hold up too. The beat switch on NEVER>>>
I should definently listen to this more, Pablo is like a big buffet with the amount of styles and themes he incorporates into just one album. Easily some of Kanye's most interesting songs are on here.
J. Cole is one of the few artists who can carry an album on his back with no features. My favourite Cole project, it's as personal as it is hard hitting. Sampling, lyrics, choruses, production, everything here is fire.
Utopia came out in a very needed time for me and now it has a special in my heart. Late nights listening to this are ingrained in my head, the production is nuts and some of Travis' best too.
Is Across the Spiderverse my favourite movie of all time? Yes. Does the soundtrack live up to the rest of the masterpiece. I would definently say so. It's less the actual album and more the feeling and era that this came out in that makes me love this so much, but it's hard to deny how much talent Metro has and how much effort he put into this. Each feature works perfectly and he somehow finds the perfect beat for every occasion in the movie, this deserves a round of applause.
Undoubtedly an album that will introduce many future generations into rap, and for a good reason. Kanye really put his all into Graduation, every song is legendary and it's as iconic as ever.
It's hard to deny Metro Boomin's influence in mainstream music this decade, he's very accessible and opened a lot of people doors into rap. While Heroes and Villains doesn't try anything new, it's hard not to deny how great most of these beats are and how amazing every feature works the tracks they're on. Every song here is playlist worthy for everybody.
Maybe the most emotional and heartfelt Kendrick project, and while I don't come back to Mr Morale often I really respect what he tried and succeeded in doing here.
Denzel Curry is so interesting because he's always pushing the boundaries of hip hop and doing his own thing and it always slaps. Saw him live in Glasgow last year and his energy is invigorating. Melt My Eyez pushes rap and jazz into the most beautiful combination of production and flows I've ever heard, excellent from start to end.
I'm going to see JID live in a couple months and I'm SO hyped, he's in my top 3 artists and The Forever Story encapsulates that. He's proven time and time again that his lyricism and flows are easily some of the best in the game right now, and each beat on this album lends to that strength perfectly. I've gotten so many friends into rap through this project, a must listen for anyone.
Baby Keem glazer here and yes this is incredible. I don't think I've heard an album with this much replayability. You can tell Keem isn't in his prime yet but you can feel his confidence in the music. The Melodic Blue is loud, bold and catchy as hell. Genuienly so much fun, cannot WAIT for his next project.
Amazinggg. Very accessible, you can listen to tracks individually and every single one is fire or you can listen the whole way through and delve deeper into the themes of DAMN. I don't come back to this one much but it still very much holds up.
Another Kendrick album that needs no introduction. I remember being on the school bus on the way home listeting to this album for like 3 years straight. Classic through and through.
Greatest album of all time but everyone already knows that. To Pimp A Butterfly genuienly changed my life and is the reason I love hip hop as much as I do, they could never make me hate you Kendrick.
The aesthetic and vibes are off the chart on this album. Czarface is like MF DOOM if he leaned even more towards the comic book style and influence, which touches my nerdy heart. All the superhero references and cartoon samples are amazing. It helps that the man himself DOOM is on this project too, his lyricism and flows complements the beats on each track perfectly. Just really love Super What?, every boom bap beat is fire and you have 3 amazing rappers spitting for 10 songs straight, I only ... read more
I've always liked The Kid LAROI, every song of his I've heard so far had great production, nice vocals and some strong strorytelling. Before I Forget does not live up to that standard. I get he's heartbroken and a lot of these songs are sweet but it gets old pretty fast. I really like the first 5 or so tracks but then they become monotonous, the tracklist kinda devolves into generic heartbreak territory by the end. I do appreciate what he was trying to do, you can tell ... read more
