Breaking: Phoebe Bridgers and Courtney Barnett found dead in their apartments this morning.
God this is bold!! I'm so sick and tired of the generic bullshit...
20 songs of an artist pouring his heart out to his listeners. Moses Sumney was an extremely personal record that feels so atmospheric. This album just like the intro track "insula" which means isolation, isolates us as listeners into its own realm.
Honey Maker is a heart-breaker, this album is simply beautiful and might be my album of the year.
This is obviously a really good album, is it a masterpiece though? Not for me. I would listen to this album only in the context of understanding all this hype. Every time I replayed this album in the last 2 weeks was only for the purpose to let it grow on me, but it didn't. I gave up when I felt that I was trying too hard to actually LOVE this album and perceive it as a masterpiece just like everyone else.
"When you put it into words
It's comfortingly bland
There's so little left to understand"
This album is fun and the only you can see it as such is if you detach it from the likes for Teens of Denial and Twin Fantasy. Think of this album as not a Car Seat album and you're off to go. (Although it very much is)
With that being said, I need to say a few things about Teens of Denial and Twin Fantasy as they will not be mentioned in my review of the album. These two albums are definitely ... read more
This album is so soothing, put on this beauty and relax all you want. Thundercat's previous album "Drunk" is more or less formulaic, although I really enjoyed it I never saw myself return to it often throughout the years. I feel with It Is What It Is the artist is taking more risks and especially with those elite class A features. This would go down as a more replay worthy record than its predecessor.
This is a refreshing listen with the beginning of spring.
Saint Cloud sounds like it's opening this season for us with some beautifully crafted instrumentals, every sound on every instrument feels as if it has its own grandiose effect on the record as a whole. The way it's all put together, this is not a standardized Americana Album where vocals play on some sounds we always hear and got used, this one has its own character more so each instrument is taking up a unique solo route and it has ... read more
Thank you Porridge Radio for MAKING ME HAPPY.
Is this the long awaited David Bowie resurrection? This album is beautiful but the punch you in the face kind of beautiful. Reminds me of the likes of Car Seat Headrest, music to which you can feel very emotional but at the same make you dance. Fantastic record kicking off the post punk and indie rock for 2020.
Absolutely gorgeous, this album reminds me of sitting around the fire in a clear summer night.
Being stuck with your own demons, is the theme of "color theory". This is the struggle of being oneself, at all different levels. Either personal or with relationships.
Soccer Mommy shifted from the tough/idgaf attitude, to the vulnerability in what could be her most personal and possibly the best album in her discography. With folky/indie rock guitar riffs and shoegaze lo-fi atmosphere that very much reminds me of the likes of Alvvays and Snail Mail. This is an album that will make ... read more
