I think I'll probably come back and write a longer review of this one someday but for now.
Modest Mouse is a band I'm very familiar with, but not really familiar with this older part of their discography. I really enjoy (and prefer) this more stripped down sound by the band. Amazing all around the entire band has so much talent and energy.
Okay yeah, so after one relisten this is for sure one of my favorites of all time.
If I could settle down then I would settle down.
Pavement's sophomore album improves everywhere Slanted and Enchanted was lacking. While their debut felt a bit "mid-loaded" to me Crooked Rain hits hard front to back. Giving the band their biggest hit (apart from Harness Your Hopes) with Cut Your Hair, they're really not lacking with this one. With a lengthy track list, but a short runtime this is a very strong debut from Pavement. I can tell a lot of my favorite, most beloved band take inspiration from this sound, however I think Pavement just has this very unique energy that I can't get enough of. Raw and low-fi production with extremely catchy/memorable instrumentals and vocals.
