A simultaneously soothing and fascinating record that isn't afraid to dive deep into pockets of boundlessly excitable indie rock, "You Forgot It In People" impressed me in countless ways through the sheer beauty that defines its highest moments - which happen to make up nearly the entire record.
Damn, 250 followers on aoty. Wow. I mean really, thank you to everyone who's shown support to my silly blurb reviews on here. It's been more than a year since I joined this site in an official capacity and boy oh boy, what a journey it's been. And what a year for music too, I mean seriously, 2024 is gonna go down as one of the best years in sonic entertainment we've had in quite a while. From Charli XCX's meteoric rise to Peggy's most recent mindblowing release to ... read more
Whew, talk about "out of my element", but I wound up enjoying this listen surprisingly enough. Even though I understand they're going for all killer no filler, I wish it was like a tad longer, but for a 17-minute wave of noise it's oddly substantive and listenable.
Truth be told, I wasn't really looking forward to this album at all. To be fair, the only project I've heard from Nick Cave prior to this listen was Skeleton Tree, an album I didn't find much personal enjoyment in, so I figured the chances of this new album winning me over were slim at best. They seemed like an acquired taste I just simply lacked the capacity for, but hey, it's new music friday and I needed some b̶i̶t̶c̶h̶e̶s̶ new dang music to put into my earholes, ... read more

This album comes off as that cringey skeleton shirt you bought at a goodwill after finding it really funny, like the song "Peace Sells" has these super over-the-top lyrics that basically read like "Of course I come fast, I got fish to catch!" but like the delivery sells it and i'm on board for the entire thing. Really good heavy metal that doesn't take its lyrical content too seriously, and I would consider that being for the best.
who up inserting they disk rn
Hi yes hello you wonderful person reading this review instead of doing something productive, you've fallen right into my baity first sentence review trap and decided to read beyond the second line, for some reason!!!! but instead of killing you and stealing your lunch money as a punishment for your tremendous blunder, instead i wanted to do the more morally questionable thing and forcefully feed you an opinion of mine straight into your skull, a music opinion ... read more
Just recently rolled credits on my first playthrough, and decided to put the standalone soundtrack on in the background while doing some work. And yeah, after listening to the entire thing front to back separated from the game, it definitely stands on its own. It somehow manages to be both extremely fitting in the playable world of Elysium, and surprisingly well-paced in album form as well. It's extremely clear to see how evocative many of these songs are, even when considering their more ... read more
This should have way more personality than it does, ultimately the material featured on "Mercurial World" aims for the stars and manages to reach them in fleeting moments of beauty. The songs "You Lose" and "Chaeri" come off as the obvious highlights, showcasing a portal to another world where Magdalena Bay fully filled out their sound. But I'd be lying if I said that every moment lands, in reality you've got a pretty frontloaded but overall well-produced ... read more
I mean, it's very pretty and, uhh, well... ambient? I sure do love those post rock passages, really like the drone... stuff... a lot... and, those field recordings too, well I, uhhhh... *sporadically flipping through note cards*

Fuck it, this is my pick for best country album of all time, and one of the best live performances you'll be sure to find.
The amount of charisma in Cash's performance is astounding, you can feel him connect with each and every prisoner in Folsom. It's one-of-a-kind, it's spellbinding, it's simply wonderful.
Edit: those -6 points come from track 10

Definitely wish this was longer and further realized, as a concept it's pretty gripping but there's only so much to chew on in execution. As explained by everyone else who reviewed this, the three highest rated songs "Junkrat", "God is Dead", and the title track take full advantage of the subject matter partaining to the Seattle drug epidemic, and really feel like excerpts from this heartfelt cautionary tale. The rest of the tracklist ... read more
FALLING IN REVERSE truly have a sound that's all their own, and that's a treasure.
