This has got to be one of my favorite grunge albums I've ever put to my ears, like WHY IS THIS SO RELATIVELY UNDERRATED given its quality and uniqueness as this multifaceted epic. It's got this perfect balance of highs and lows that sweep from the more traditional and accessible rockin' moments, to these beautiful and contemplative drops of serenity, namely with songs like "All Alone", "River of Deceit" and the understated genius of "Long Gone Day" ... read more
This is basically an incestuous breed of pearl jam and soundgarden, for which I'm not 100% familiar with each of the specifics regarding what member would go to where (except the obvious like the corn man himself) but regardless, I would have never known about this if it wasn’t for my mother who casually brought it up during whatever substantive conversation we were having about music at the time (probably about how creed was her favorite band or something random idk we go off track ... read more
If I'm being completely honest with myself, this barely out-ranks Paranoid for me, and that decision mainly comes down to their foundational qualities at the time. Since this was widely considered the first metal album to exist as we know it today, you can definitely hear the blues-y remnants of forgotten grooves preserved in this sheen of metallic stupor, unearthed through various pieces of instrumentation that paint a blended homage to the past and what the future of heavy music would ... read more
Comes close to RTJ2, it found a perfect balance between having a meaningful amount to say, while also going HARD AS FUCK in the process. Killer Mike and El-P are once again in their synergetic groove that only seems to result in one thing: powerful music.
Thanks aoty rabbit hole for serving me once again, I swear to god I find some excellent stuff browsing tags and crossing fingers, and X-Ray eyes over here is no different. Succinctly put, you've got this pretty straightforward and catchy indie rock sound that can dart between hard and soft, occasionally just going straight folk in the case of "Pine Trees on Fire", while never feeling too jarring or harsh during its peaks and valleys of intensity. While I'm more privy to the ... read more
Just a bit too short to say that I absolutely loved it, but man these songs are also solid as fuck. Really hoping they come through with an album or longer project at some point.
DC, you've DON it again!!!!
Now I could just end it there (at the highest point in my funny career I may add), but eh, I guess there's time to discuss some of my favorite qualities of "REBIRTH". First of all, this is NOT the lil wayne album with the same name, this is a remindeer for my secret santa this year PLEASE please when browsing the goddamn vinyls at target or wherever you shop for the overpriced posters with black licorice wheels in the middle, make sure to get the ... read more
shit was so good i had to add it to the website πππ
For some reason I had added this album to my spotify queue playlist, where I just put a bunch of random albums that got recommended to me though the streaming slot machine algorithm. I guess a song from this project autoplayed after one of my playlists or something and I added it arbitrarily, not realizing I had dug up some buried treasure and preceded to kick it back in to the hole that once was a plot of land with a cartoonishly ... read more
Another one I forgot to rate after relistening a few months back, "Paranoid" is an early example of an excellent and withstanding metal opus for the ages, and you should acquaint yourself with it if you haven't already.
can't wait to read the genius annotation on "Communist Daughter" that explains how the cum-covered mountaintops are actually an insightful double simile metaphor ententre hyperbole ultra psuedocommentary (with sprinkles on top) analogus connection double triple bossy deluxe on a raft deep dive comparative storytelling device about hitler's missing testicle or something
Damn, I could ACTUALLY show my parents (particular parts of) this album! Like, HONEST TO GOD pockets of this ATMOSPHERIC BLACK METAL THINGAMABOBBER have really excellent moments of less aggressive clarity that really can appeal to those not as inclined to the (admittedly) somewhat over-the-top vocals and heavier bits. Still, as someone who can mostly tolerate that (the vocals are still a bit too much for my taste), I'm able to get this clear picture of what’s being conveyed and ... read more
Doesn't have quite the soaring heights of tpab, and the r&b pockets were fine enough but not personally my thing. Like i'm sorry, REALLY UNIRONICALLY SORRY, that i didn't enjoy this as much as the new yeat album, let this be proof that i'm not some false god to idolize, but rather a stupid fucking human being who has flesh and flaws and teeth and tendons and bones and all that jazz
It's a bit more hit or miss compared to his excellent 2093 outing, but I still had a ton of fun with Yeat's "LYFESTYLE". Every track pre-Kodak was fucking excellent, the middle was great, and the ending tracks extended this album a tad longer than I found necessary, but regardless, everything was a step forward in fleshing out his sound and providing more and more proof supporting his versatility in what's often considered a repetitive genre. This and '93 are ... read more
brat and it changed its homework a little bit but also gets some weird features that ruin any sense of flow that was there before but like its still brat and i really wasn't the biggest fan of that so take this opinion and putrid run on sentence with some sense of sodium

Okay so to keep it quick, I've got a roommate who fucking loves Tally Hall and this album in particular, and so to counterbalance all of the shite music recommendations I bombard him with on a near daily basis, I figured that I should give this a fair listen in order to broaden our musical discourse from "btw listen to 100 gecs for the funny" "ok." *hates it because he's a normal, rational person* to something a ... read more
shit my bad forgot to review this mastapeece, i mean wtf can i add to the conversation, this shit fire and "The Girl Is Mine" lowkey might be my favorite song on here
