This seemed a bit unconvental for my personal taste, but it's still a really fun album to experience, and I'm still happy to call "Aqualung" well-deserving of the classic status. It's much more gentle and meticulous compared to what the iconic opener may lead you to believe, implementing a strong layer of flutes and twangy laid-back production even in its most guttural prog moments. That said, there isn't a shortage of heavy riffs and larger-than-life setpieces ... read more
I knew there was a reason I have a "listen-to-later" playlist, and it's because of albums like this - projects I would have totally forgotten about if it weren't for my digital kleptomancy!
Featuring a combination of familiar and striking, "Z" by My Morning Jacket knocked me flat on my ass from left field, as I never heard of this group prior to spinning this thing, and I pretty much put it on as background music without much forethought. But once I heard the ... read more
This is bad, but not the hideous car crash I wanted it to be tbh. "F-1 Trillion" is arguably better than his previous two albums despite it feeling so spineless in retrospect, really it's a testament to how FUCKING AWFUL those previous projects were - namely Toothache. It's not all bad here to tell you the truth, just nothing sticks out and I already forgot everything I heard, to the point where I STILL won't be able to recognize any song when they inevitably play in ... read more
You know what, I usually get sick of Logic's skits and some of his more eccentric attributes that should prove to be his strengths. But with this new album of his, everything feels right at home. Much like these breaks in the action, Ultra 85 feels like a magnificent odyssey that cultivates a sturdy foundation of positivity and genuine inspirational qualities that paint optimistic strokes of a better future. Are there some corny lines and other typical -isms that usually irk me about ... read more
A thunderous redefinition of the noise rock sound that straddles the line between alienating experimentation and wide-reaching appeal, "Daydream Nation" still remains as one of rock music's most bombastic and simultaneously blown-out statements to this day. The vocals are understated and often find themselves as mere servants, pawns in a bigger picture, that aim to compliment the roaring guitar work and devilishly tight compositions.
But fuck em because of nardwuar and junk
Super hidden hardcore gem, only problem is the minimum-ad-revenue-youtube-video-ass length but it still kicks a bunch of ass!
"GUTS" feels like the sequel that improves upon the original in every way, aging up the ideas on "SOUR" to match a more mature pop landscape artists like Olivia are currently trailblazing.
You heard it here folks, 2 + 2 = 5, Hi-Rez was right all along πππ
Some parts felt a bit too cookie cutter for my taste, but the more resonant moments stood out and made this a pretty decent listen. Granted it's not fully my thing, but I can see what makes Olivia Rodrigo tick for so many people, and those qualities intrigued me enough to stay on board. Maybe I'll enjoy "GUTS" a bit more, we'll see.
okay i made a joke about elmo carti featuring on gambino's album but DEAR GOD THAT HOOK ON FIELD TRIP IS ASSSSS
In my opinion, this is even worse than the original Vultures in SO many ways, any small saving grace that album had ("BURN", "CARNIVAL" wasn't the worst thing ever, and like that's about it) is nowhere to be found. Even the opener track came off as subpar, and everything else didn't come close to clearing that very mediocre water mark. Terrible ... read more
OKAY SO LIKE I SHAZAMED THIS SHIT THAT WAS PLAYING IN A STORE, the song was "glare" and it sounded RIGHT UP MY ALLEY and I was shocked it was playing in public, anyway I listened to the entire album and I LIKED IT A LOT!!! Some modern zoomer-gaze goodness with some notes of indie rock and grunge throughout, you're sure to have a good time with this album. Only complaints would be that it's a bit short, and the vocals get a bit too drowned out for my taste to fully tolerate ... read more
I've never been a big fan of reggae (I've just been very unfamiliar with the genre as a whole), but I wanted to broaden my horizons a bit and figured there wasn't a better place to start than the ever-eccentric Bob Marley. And yeah, I'm REALLY digging what I hear, enough to go back and check out a bunch of his other work across his lengthy catalog with the Wailers. With its super laid back grooves produced with a fine finesse that punctuate the resonant and piercing vocals ... read more
Really enjoyed the first four songs alongside "Mona Lisa", everything else was boring and didn't live up to the singles unfortunately. The best moments covered up the cringey lyrics that I didn't care for, but once they were the main focus and the noisy electropop died down a bit I started to lose interest. Skill issue on my part ik
Edit (94 -> 96): I've finally made up my mind, I enjoy this more than Scaring the Hoes! It's still REALLY close but I find the ending tracks of this album more satisfying, and that first song is going down as one of my most-played songs EVER so yeah that's my definitive opinion that's 100% unwavering and correct and unable to change (it could change any moment)
PEGGY'S STILL GOT IT, LONG LIVE JIHAD JOE!!!
Definitely more of a head-scratcher compared to his last ... read more

"I just kissed my daughter" -one of the features incoherently mumbling their way through this mess
HOLY FUCK this thing is weird, really makes "Deceit" look like an unassuming walk in the damn park at times. Those subgenre tags don't lie (and neither do the primary ones for that matter): This Heat's self-titled debut features an almost bottomless amount of off-kilter sonic influences that add up into a wholly bizarre collection of sounds that really set out to defy convention in countless ways. It leans more to the side of "experimental" than experimental rock ... read more
