Monica's best album to date. She reminds me of Whitney Houston; give her a good song and she makes it a hit with her BIG voice while almost never taking matters in own hands to create them herself. Great great great album, especially in this day and age. Only issue I have is that a lot of songs feel like they were written or adjusted to fit in with angsty teenagers instead of them being a 100% authentic reflection of the life of a 30 year old woman. Boringbox is cohesive in the way that all of the songs (which are mostly ballads) have the same uninspiring adult contemporary sound. There's nothing experimental going on and she plays it very safe. The lyrics are very cheesy on songs like Hero, Never Forget You and Just To Hold You Once Again. The album is filled with generic ballads and commercial topic matters. Someone please stop this girl from writing and give her some good songs. The lyrics feel like they were written in the dairy of an angsty teenage girl, they are pretty bad. It amazes me how on every album Brandy's voice changes. Amazing album by an amazing talent. This album sounds like it was stolen from his basement studio sessions. It's raw, unfiltered, sexy and aggressive. His singing has this flow to it, almost like he's rapping; reminiscent of bone-thugs-n-harmony.
