Not only does Beck know how to make some crazy shit, he also knows how to calm down and make a great breakup album.
I bought this album for two reasons: First, I heard "That's What Heaven Feels Like" on the radio and liked it, and second, it's always good to support local bands on the come-up (This band is from Hamilton, Ontario, which is where i'm from). I didn't really know what to expect, because I saw that the few reviews on this website praise it, but the user score was below 70.
As always with me, I was pleasantly suprised.
This album is a little generic and typical at times, and maybe ... read more
Fantastic album, and 70s punk at it's finest. I can see why Fantano gave it a 10.
A beautifully dark album that continues to grow on me. If this doesn't get goth girls to love me than I don't know what will.
Yet another album where I have nothing to say because anything I could say has been said a million times before. Great album.
GOD I love quality pop music. I love shitty pop music too but I love the good stuff more. This is the good stuff.
Though I dont think this album is as strong as the albums that preceded it, it's a quality album with plenty of great tracks, on top of being a very important moment in Kanye's discography.
Super solid album. The production is great and the features are too for the most part. There are a couple of duds on this thing, and some of Metro's producer tags felt really out of place, but other than that, it was super enjoyable. A Trap highlight without a doubt.
Mos Def proves his lyrical ability on this album big time, and is backed with great beats and production. A must listen for anyone into old-school Hip Hop.
One of Drake's best. Pound Cake / Paris Morton Music 2 is a top 100 song for me, and Tuscan Leather is close, too. There are definitely a couple misses, and there are plenty of "Drake-isms" to be found in this album, but the highs are VERY high.
Man, there are so many artists who came out swinging with their debuts, especially in alt rock. Arctic Monkeys, The Stone Roses, and Franz Ferdinand are a few perfect examples, and after listening to this album, I think it can be added to that list without a doubt.
I grew up in (and still live in) Canada around the Greater Toronto Area, and Canadian radio stations make sure to play plenty of Canadian music. Death From Above 1979 was one of those Bands. But, judging purely by the hit singles ... read more
DOOM really did go off in 2003 and 2004. The highs on this thing are stellar, and the lows (if any) are genuinely impressive at the very least.
This album's sound (and this album as a whole) hasn't aged too well, and pop-punk / emo is far from being one of my favourite genres. However, I rate albums based on how much I enjoyed the album in question, and as it turns out, I enjoyed this. Maybe it's the energy, maybe it's the great drumming, or maybe its just nostalgia. I don't know. All I know is that I like this one.
A solid rock album. There are a couple misses here for sure, but I got more enjoyment than I expected to get out of this one.
