Geese - Mysterious Love
95

A real “what the actual fuck” moment.

Geese - Projector
75

It contains impressive instrumental performances, multi-phased art punk experimentation, and concise track list all which pleasantly surprised me. I only wish the vocals were a little bit more distinct from the obvious influences. Much potential.

Maruja - Knocknarea
90

Excellent musicianship and use of dynamics.

Squid - O Monolith
85

Tighter, abstract and more perplexing than its predecessor, ‘O Monolith’ is an interesting and exciting evolution for the group.

Highlights: Swing (In A Dream), Undergrowth, The Blades, Green Light, Bulls Swimming Attempts.

Queens of the Stone Age - Emotion Sickness
85

They’re sounding pretty fresh and revitalized with this one. Instantly more memorable than anything on Villains imo.

Minutemen - Double Nickels on the Dime
85

A must-listen for any punk or post hardcore fan, albeit a bloated listen. The highs are insanely high.

95

This album is the definition of serene and tranquil beauty. In an otherworldly kind of way.

75

The sister ep to the self titled is pretty strong, but lacks the highs and memorability of such an iconic release.

Fugazi - End Hits
80

A strong and diverse release for Fugazi, but suffers from being a little too long with some more “filler” tracks.

Fugazi - Red Medicine
90

A rather experimental turn for Fugazi that sees them opt for more oddity and diversity in style without losing the aggression and catchiness associated with them. One of my favorites in their catalogue.

Talking Heads - Talking Heads: 77
85

And essential debut album for an essential band in the rock canon. It’s jittery, anxiety filled, and quirky beyond belief. A bit underrated if you ask me.

Fugazi - In On the Kill Taker
85

Perhaps their noisiest project. In On the Kill Taker has a lot edge and abrasion with a consistent track list abundant with dark, moody atmospheres.

Fugazi - Fugazi
95

A nearly perfect debut for the legendary group. It’s anthemic, well performed, noisy, grooving, intelligent, and sets the stage for one of the most consistent discography’s in rock.

Wire - 154
90

Truly ahead of its time and incorporates(invents) so many styles of punk and rock music that would be used for decades.

Fugazi - Repeater
90

A perfectly sequenced heady and arty “hardcore” album with grooving dub bass and funk guitar influences and anti consumer/capitalist messaging and ideals. The dynamic between Ian and Guy’s voices couldn’t be greater.

Fugazi - The Argument
90

Fugazi’s The Argument is by far their most “laid-back”, psychedelic, and post-punk output. It’s very sonically diverse reaching true heights of greatness and with the exception of “Oh” and some moments on other tracks is a really really good and consistently surprising album.

This album has only grown on me with subsequent listens, it flows beautifully and is a great send off and ends for the band.

The Fall - Perverted by Language
90

Perverted By Language may be The Fall at their most diverse and consistently intriguing. pulling together post-punk singalongs, rhythmic and driving noise rock, extended and repetitive krautrock jams, and dance-y, scratchy, almost new-wave art-punk into a concise 8 tracks experience. *Correct track listing*
1.Eat Y’Self Fitter
2. Neighborhood of Infinity
3.Garden
4.Hotel Bloedel
5.Smile
6.I Feel Voxish
7.Tempo House
8.Hexen Definitive / Strife Knot

The Fall - Dragnet
80

While not as consistent and continuously catchy as the debut, dragnet opts for a murkier, messier, darker and even more stripped back approach to Mark E Smith’s distinct free-form spoken noise rock, creating its own separate appeal.
