Pierce The Veil - A Flair for the Dramatic
85

You can take the boy out of emo, but you can't take the emo out of the boy.

Man, I really did not expect to have as many of these songs internally memorized as I did. While the lyrics certainly are a dramatic at times I do not think they cross that very fine line into unbearable territory. Instrumentally this thing has a full tank of gas and then some. Vic's voice can be an acquired taste if that but I always had a natural attraction towards it because initially it may sound a little unnatural ... read more

Drake - Toosie Slide
33

Hot cheese left under a car seat in the sun.

So when Drake says, "Right foot up, left foot slide. Left foot up, right foot slide" he is telling us how to do a dance? Wow my mind is blown.

End of the day, this song is not fun to listen to and it is poo-poo tiktok garbage.

Yung Lean - Lavender
43

Truly groundbreaking and foundation forming.

Do I like it? Eh. Ginseng Strip 2002 certainly is a wonderful experience but the rest is a bit rough around the edges, Then again the dude was a child at this point so I ain't gonna pretend I could do better.

This is the religious text for Cloud Rap.

This single from Joyner Lucas honestly had me eating my words when I first heard it because half way into that first verse I wanted to turn that garbage off immediately. However, come the second verse I was happy to see him throw all the stuff from the first verse pretty much in the gar=bag-eo. I still don't ever see myself going out of the way to listen to this but I have heard worst in general and especially from Joyner. Oh, and duh Jelly Roll vocally sound great!

Matt Champion - Slow Motion

What in the Princess Mononoke. Howl's Moving Castle, Spirited Away is this album going to be? So far each single has been vastly different from the other and has my full attention, this time around a beautiful duet but with a twist of drum and bass, Yeah idk, I think it is better not to question it and just get ready.

Mart Eerens - I Wanna Be Your Valentine

Fuck it, I think the song is really charming. It isn't anything overly complex its just a happy ass valentines song. Breakdown was very welcomed. Mart also do be hitting them highs.

Holly Humberstone - work in progress

Short and to the point with this EP. This is a fine collection of tracks with honestly beautiful vocals; however, this project doesn't have much in terms of variation and does play things incredibly safe especially on the track Down Swinging. This EP was enough to catch my eye and after what I heard I would like to check and see more from this artist. Possibly there is something with a little bit more sense of purpose. Ultimately, I like what I heard but not enough to make me go back to this ... read more

Quadeca - Voice Memos
48

Voice Memos provides a great glimpse into some of the adventurous and experimental sounds Quadeca would go on to play with in his future works. It however also contains some of the most wordy deliveries and outdated sounds in parallel with this experimentation. Sections like entire track 3 interlude, The Man on My Left Shoulder, and the second half of These Days really won me over. On the flip side, Imagination, Uh Huh!, and War! are reminders of why an apprehension to approaching Quadeca's ... read more

Coheed and Cambria - Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV, Volume One: From Fear Through the Eyes of Madness

This is the progressive rock equivalent to listening to Red Hot Chili Peppers. I'm gonna be honest I don't know a damn thing Claudio is talking about half the time but it sounds good instrumentally and I quite enjoy his voice. If I ever stumbled across a copy of Amory Wars at a half priced books I'll consider giving it a read.

NewDad - Waves

Love it! This short EP stays within a similar sound while still venturing around into different pockets on each track and sticking to this ocean and water aesthetic.

The Kid LAROI - F*CK LOVE 3+: OVER YOU
27

I have a SITUATION I need to bring to your ATTENTION. I DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOU but I feel like continuing to listen to The Kid Laroi's music is not the BEST FOR ME. I feel LONELY AND F*CKED UP.

Yeah this one isn't really better than the last part but I am not a quitter! At least Laroi went Emo-Country for us on LONELY AND F*CKED UP... SITUATION might also slightly work on me despite not really being a full song by being the most heartwarming track on here. If only he didn't do a 180 on ... read more

The Kid LAROI - F*CK LOVE 3: OVER YOU

Let's be clear. This album would not be getting nearly half the attention it has gotten without the track STAY.

With that being said, STAY is just an alright track. It fits the definition of over-rated by all metrics in terms of mainstream consumption. This song has 2.9 billion stream on spotify alone at the time of writing this and is simply the same subject matter with less quality as a track released in 2012 of the same name, Stay by Rihanna. With that rant out of the way, STAY remains the ... read more

Man you just had to be there. Watching a Runescape music video to Animal I Have Become is like a right of passage. Certainly could have held up better with time though.

Louie Zong - RAT TAXI
87

What in the Jet Set Radio Sega Dreamcast Sonic Adventure 2 Battle is going on here?

Youtube decided to serve this up to me while I did my chores around the house this morning and it could not have served something better up. While this thing at its core is just a jazz record it really does loosely play with this whole Rat Taxi theme across the whole project. Starting off you get a rat themed rap verse on Cheezy Street which goes way harder than it has any right to do. I mean shit, every starts ... read more

El Morabba3 - El Morabba3

Balancing moments of serenity aside moments of pure aggressive this record delivers some progressive rock and some borderline ballads that despite a language barrier I enjoyed thoroughly. My favorite moments would definitely be the slower moments on the record in tracks like Ya Zein and Laykoon; however, the upbeat energy on the intro track Asheek cannot be matched alongside nice reverberated strings. If there was any point on the album I wasn't fully into it would be the second track Ma Indak ... read more

HIM - Razorblade Romance

Asking my dad to bootleg this for me off his work music sharing server was trembling as a young teen. While I remember this being far more magical as a teen this thing still holds up being slow and melodic packed full of Ville Valo waxing goth poetry. I think what really sells me on HIM as a whole is the deep register the singer uses especially on the track Gone With the Sin. What's crazy to me is that I was so focused on Wings of a Butterfly as a teen I didn't listen to this album as much as ... read more

Miles Davis - Kind of Blue

Man I really don't know what to say about this one. I enjoyed listening and respect this album for all it has done on its own and gone on to influence other works. This thing is a much more laid back experience that you can kick your feet up to and just drift off. Especially on the track Blue in Green where there is this shuffling going on in the background that almost sounds of rain. I didn't quite feel the same connection with this that I did A Love Supreme but still happy to have finally sat ... read more

I think there is a guitar in here somewhere. Idk wasn't paying too much attention to it over all the bad.

"100% agree that this album needs its time to really grow on you! I actually enjoy Dryland and The Fish Song quite a bit, but can certainly understand some of the apprehension to fully getting lost within those tracks. I think I may need to spin back on the album yet again and re-evaluate my scores since I didn't give Where Did You Go a 100 and it is one of the most memorable tracks off the album for me. Great review!"
