Even better with Cardi B on it, shits charismatic as hell. Idk what y'all are hearing.
Smoking on mota got me moving like a Martian.
Lumydia delivers a take on progressive psych rock that relies less on gimmicks and spectacle and more on raw feeling through the sound they convey.
Starting off with the track Preludio, you get quite the lengthy build up initially. However, this eventually transitions into a much more progressive experience going through many different stylistic shifts on one track. This track feels exceptionally well balanced with the instruments all ... read more
On 808's & Heartbreaks, Kanye West exchanges the usual grand production for more sparse and gloomy production; instead, relying on his emotional transparency to carry this record. It may not be everyone's cup of tea, but it worked for this fellow back in the day, and still mostly works now. I just notice some of the lackluster moments a bit more.
The singer here is definitely vocally talented and the instrumental choices pair well with their delivery. I just found the pacing of the album to overall be on the slow side, which in this albums defense is likely intentional, to not work super well with me.

The one stinker in Drunk and Hot Girls really stops this thing from being the perfect album it should be.
This album feels like a victory lap for Kanye West following the meteoric success of The College Dropout.
This record was Kanye West when he was hungry and had something to prove.
Packed full of soulful instrumentals and tight lyricism this record weaves together themes of materialism and self-consciousness, all wrapped in a nice package that puts into question the value of education. While many of the tracks on this album are straight to the point, one thing that stays on center stage is Kanye's personality, always saying something that really only he would say.

What more can really be said about this one... I wonder if listening to it repeatedly will help anything? I certainly won't be attempting that anytime soon...
Old timey throwback with a real fun dance vibe to it. Not at all what I was expecting to come from Childish Gambino but will gladly accept it. Young Nudy comes in and changes the entire vibe of the song mostly for the better.
You went live and said that you pop, you don't pop. You went live and said that you whoop, you don't whoop.
Unironically, Soul Train is the best song here and that is by far, don't @ me that song is kind of gas.
Stoney isn't BAD by any means, but it is certainly really boring for long stretches. I had a decent amount of nostalgia going into this record, but even the high moments like I Fall Apart and Congratulations cannot save this record. Sparse instrumentals and a comatose vocal delivery lead to a mid-day nap for me.
Edit 05/16/2024 87 -> 90: This has been on a steady rotation and is proving to likely be my favorite SS project.
Listening to Volume 2 made me feel the need to go back and check Volume 1 out, and glad I did!
This project somehow feels even more high speed than the second taking a lot of influence from hardstyle on a few of the tracks here. Gave it my first listen and immediately ran it back for another run.

White rice, a plain baked potato, and a saltine cracker. All things that share a similar level of bland as this project.

I don't take it that laughs it what Ronnie was going for with this track. I still was laughing for a majority of it. That breakdown is just Champion too...
Edit 12/10/2024 98 -> 100: Upon further listening this album did in fact creep into 100 territory. This record encapsulates anger and rage in such a perfect way that almost makes it hard to have as an everyday listen. However, with the way things seem to be going in the world maybe it will fit as a daily listen. All this to say the "falling out" moment I had during Track 8 and 10 are basically non-existent on this return listens and I especially love the return of the bird chirps ... read more
This album is noise, or I guess a lack of noise on track 5. This album actually provided something really great for me. It helped me realize where my bar is. When it comes to something being so terrible I would rather hear pure noise.
