Getting one more Charli redux review in while I can before I can finally go feral in a couple hours. This is a project I have been dying to revisit with the intention of re-reviewing as over time my appreciation for this project has probably grown the most of any project post Vroom Vroom. There was just something about this project initially that made it very hard to approach especially when it came to songs like Lucky, Tears, Femmebot, and Delicious. I won't lie there are still elements of ... read more
Remember when Oliver Tree made a "country" album. Yeah, this is actually worst than all of that. You wanna talk about how you spent most of your life fucking up and how you are finally getting it together? Then stop doing all this corny shit on the internet. The mixing on this song is absolutely terrible, and the video.... Well, the Blaire White cameo should really say it all. I'm just going to call it now. There is going to be a Tom feature on the new record.
I didn't know we could ask for this! Like seriously, we don't deserve to have this!
When listening to this project my first time I honestly slept on this song and didn't realize how hard of an earworm it would become for me. The back end of the track particularly being my favorite part, because seeing Billie play with auto-tune like this is super fun. Say what you want, but playing with these tones just unlocks a completely different emotional response from me that I can't find elsewhere. ... read more
Sweet and short little EP with enough entertaining production choices to keep me interested through my first listen, but still leaving this feeling of wanting more. This project has a nice flow to it with the first three tracks all slowly increasing in tempo and energy. After that point, the project then starts to slow back down again. However, one little nitpick I do have is reason featuring a rather upbeat ending that despite enjoying does rain on the closing tracks day a bit. My favorite ... read more
Redux Review in preparation for Brat season.
How I'm Feeling Know is a stimulating and depressing reflection of Charli's mental space during Covid quarantine season. This project is packed full of absolute bangers to make up for that missing sense of energy from being trapped inside all day, while also adding in moments of introspection and reflection as well. Every element about this album feels very homemade and intimate whether it is a banging synths or a slight auto-tweak in the vocals. ... read more
"yall ever realize how we're listening to this for free. but brad is getting 3000 dollars for it 😞 not fair"
I really did not expect listening to this project to go the way it did. I was mostly aware of this project due to the submission on Brad's livestream, but did not stick around very long as I didn't want to spoil the project for myself. I figured I would listen to it today and go for it all in one sitting. There were many points towards the end of this record where I really ... read more
This project is really everything Testing could have been...
Combining elements of punk, alt-rock, and hip-hop Jean Dawnson shifts styles at a fast pace, but remains adaptable to many varying sounds throughout this entire project. Another thing this project and Jean Dawson both do excellently is ooze charisma leading to the artist's personality shining through.
One of my favorite moments on this project is the track Dummy which features these tweaks on some of the vocals that worm their way ... read more
On the full length project Charli, Charlotte Aitchison delivers a vulnerable yet proud pop record that not only was a major turning point in her sound up to this point, but also a major step up in quality from her previous full length records.
Prior to this project releasing Charli XCX would begin working with PC music camp on projects like the Vroom Vroom EP, No1 Angel, and Pop2. Combining aspects of synthpop, bubblegum bass, and the newly emerging hyperpop subgenre in combination with ... read more
It's Charli Baby!
Giving this a re-review because the three words above really didn't do this justice. This project really utilizes all the positive elements from True Romance and Sucker, but also adding in the new production touches of PC Music camp to deliver an intoxicating electropop experience. This tape is grimy and sweet at the same time giving you sappy cuts like Emotional, as well as dirty bangers like Drugs or Lipgloss.
The beginning of this record changes paces from track to track ... read more
Originally reviewed this project on June 15th 2023 giving it a score of 74 with such insightful words as "This EP feels like floating on clouds up until the ending wakes you up like an alarm clock." Honestly, those words aren't far from the feeling I still get from this project, but I figured I could go in some more depth.
See all those pop subgenre's up there in the top right? This project does a good job of filling into each of those subgenre's nicely. This project starts off with ... read more
Woah.
I won't lie when Lil Chilly dropped this one off in my shout box I wasn't 100% sure what to expect, but when I saw the reception from others users I did get a bit excited. For the most part I feel this record did a good job capitalizing on that excitement and has captured my attention.
Starting off with the track sit in silence, everything is clashing together with just the slightest amount of separation between the instrumental elements and vocals. This sets a nice precedent for what ... read more
Edit 05/30/2024 98 -> 100: Giving it the 100, the bit-crushed nature of this song combined with the infectious dance feel made doing all my yard work these past few days a cakewalk.

God forbid we get some more underscores in 2024, I would totally hate that......
Sike bitch, underscores back again in a similar bag per usual, but something in that bass is ... read more
I really tried with this one.... Three different days. Five total listens and it just is doing absolutely nothing for me. What makes this harder to type up is that for such a critically acclaimed record nothing is bad enough here to be much more than indifferent. The pacing of this record is just exceptionally slow, which I usually can enjoy, but with this album it reads as hotel lobby or elevator music. I've tried enough with this record to know when it is time to put it down and move on. I ... read more
Flower Boy in title and display is a real significant point in Tyler's career really showing a clear sign of maturity and care going into the music. There are certainly great things to be said about his previous works, but this just forgoes all the gimmick for a display of raw talent.
This project mostly remains in a more reserved territory in comparison to Tyler's previous works excluding the tracks Who Dat Boy and I Ain't Got Time!. Speaking on those tracks, I do feel that Who Dat Boy may ... read more
This album feels like an incredible celebration of self appreciation.
Focusing heavily on themes of race this album puts forth a giant message of pride, strength, and resilience. It also comments on and further refutes many rejection of black culture in society especially on the Interlude: Tina Taught Me which directly attacks the question of "Why isn't there a White History Month." You should be proud of who you are, and don't let others tear that away from you. If the previous ... read more
Before I get into this review I want to take a moment to thank my buddy Doksys for being persistent on getting me to listen to this project. Whether or not I decided to do the Apple top 100 list I was going to eventually listen to this project. Ignorance can be bliss at times, but it can also be misery. Thinking for years that dubstep is what I thought it was, due to the heavy prevalence of acts like Skrillex, was also misery. This album may not immediately scratch your brain for dubstep, but ... read more
I must confess that Confessions was not my favorite piece of R&B I have listened to. Feeling rather bloated in the midsection and generally just feeling a bit too horny for me, I really felt myself struggling to get through this at some points. The main element that made it a bit easily to stick with this record would have to be Usher's vocal talent being undeniably smooth. My main takeaway after listening to this record is that I think I prefer my R&B in the heartbreak season rather ... read more
Ya ya ya I am Lorde ya ya ya.
Charlotte Emma Atchison born August 2nd 1992 delivers a stunning and spot on the nose glimpse into many different aspects of the "glamorous" life. Wait... This isn't Charli XCX? Oh yeah, my bad I totally forgot these are two different people.
In all seriousness, the statement above holds true, but for the actual artist Lorde, hailing from New Zealand. I just find the fact that people get the two mixed up to be very funny. Pure Heroine really did set a ... read more
Wow... that album art really feels more relevant than ever in today's times....
I don't know what compelled me to think that listening to this album before bed was a good idea, but we will survive. This album is an extremely heavy experience charged with multiple political messages that's significance hold even truer with time. This album has me in a tough spot because I generally consider myself unqualified to spew a real political message, especially on this site. I will just leave it at ... read more
Original review was on 01/12/2024 and I scored this album an 85. Only problem was that the review was.... well not a real review. So I am here to fix that while still doing the doodely-doo on the Apple list.
To start, I truly believe this was Travis at the height of his career as far as pure grandeur goes. In my original "review" I simply ogled over the feature list on this album, and what I think I was trying to articulate with that was that Travis is pulling out all his tricks on ... read more
