Geese’s debut isn’t quite on the level of their next effort in 2023, but ‘Projector’ is a solid, consistent effort with some great moments

a smoother, mellower listen than the two Grizzly Bear albums to come, ‘Yellow House’ still delivers gorgeous soundscapes and soothing atmospheres with their beautiful psychedelic indie folk. This project is such a pleasant listen and once more proving why Grizzly Bear are the best in the business for psych folk

some really cool stuff on here, inconsistency lets it down a little but the highlights kinda sound like if Bright Eyes made noisier indie rock

these instrumentals are so cool and i like the guys voice but it all just sounds so… disney???? especially the writing lol. this is what i’d imagine the emo in a stereotypical early 2010s highschool movie would listen to

Carissa’s Weird delivers a potently emotional record that follows the bands name well - it’s a little weird. but that’s what’s so brilliant about it. It isn’t just another heartbreak album, it’s raw and truly vulnerable.

(yes, i know it's a high 6 now but that's just because i adjusted my rating system, it's still a solid effort from yeat)

considering the direction IDLES have been going in since ‘Joy as an Act of Resistance’ (which i’m a big fan of), and how quickly the user score dropped into the mid 70’s, i wasn’t overly hopeful for this project but IDLES deliver a typically IDLES-y grit but with a new message - ‘Love is the fing’. A slower release from the punk band but still with their classic punch. A great album.

Sunny Day Real Estate take a different approach to their previous releases here with a more emotional and personal post hardcore record that slows down the tempo and delivers some brilliant songs

the first 3 tracks were incredible, still had some solid tracks after that but those 3 were head and shoulders above for me

sounds nice but it never really goes anywhere
