Geese - Projector
80

Geese’s debut isn’t quite on the level of their next effort in 2023, but ‘Projector’ is a solid, consistent effort with some great moments

Grizzly Bear - Yellow House
86

a smoother, mellower listen than the two Grizzly Bear albums to come, ‘Yellow House’ still delivers gorgeous soundscapes and soothing atmospheres with their beautiful psychedelic indie folk. This project is such a pleasant listen and once more proving why Grizzly Bear are the best in the business for psych folk

Friko - Where we've been, Where we go from here
81

some really cool stuff on here, inconsistency lets it down a little but the highlights kinda sound like if Bright Eyes made noisier indie rock

Ovlov - Tru
84

man i love ovlov
the fuzzy goats strike again

Origami Angel - Somewhere City
79

these instrumentals are so cool and i like the guys voice but it all just sounds so… disney???? especially the writing lol. this is what i’d imagine the emo in a stereotypical early 2010s highschool movie would listen to

Bill Ryder-Jones - Iechyd Da
78

WELSH USED🔥🔥🗣️💯🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿
WHAT THE FUCK IS A BAD FLAG???‼️❔🗣️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿
in all seriousness this is very pretty i like it a lot big thumbs up

Carissa's Wierd - Songs About Leaving
90

Carissa’s Weird delivers a potently emotional record that follows the bands name well - it’s a little weird. but that’s what’s so brilliant about it. It isn’t just another heartbreak album, it’s raw and truly vulnerable.

Yeat - 2093
67

this is what people told me AftërLyfe was
leaps and bounds better - much more creative, interesting, unique and well executed.
his last project was one of my very least favourites from 2023… i can’t believe that only months later i’m about to give yeat a 7

(yes, i know it's a high 6 now but that's just because i adjusted my rating system, it's still a solid effort from yeat)

IDLES - TANGK
83

considering the direction IDLES have been going in since ‘Joy as an Act of Resistance’ (which i’m a big fan of), and how quickly the user score dropped into the mid 70’s, i wasn’t overly hopeful for this project but IDLES deliver a typically IDLES-y grit but with a new message - ‘Love is the fing’. A slower release from the punk band but still with their classic punch. A great album.

Quadeca - SCRAPYARD
85

despite IDMTHY being probably my favourite project ever, this rating is actually higher than i expected to give it. i wasn’t HUGE on the individual scrapyard EPs and i was a little worried this’d be more of the same, thankfully though, almost all of the new songs were amongst the best on the mixtape, and all the best already-released songs were included in this tracklist. some of the best songs on here like ‘GUIDE DOG’ can genuinely compete with songs from his previous ... read more

I submitted my essay today and my tutor asked me how it was coming along, i simply replied “kanye west”. they smiled and nodded, he knew it was finished

Sunny Day Real Estate - How It Feels to Be Something On
84

Sunny Day Real Estate take a different approach to their previous releases here with a more emotional and personal post hardcore record that slows down the tempo and delivers some brilliant songs

Stina Nordenstam - Dynamite
82

the first 3 tracks were incredible, still had some solid tracks after that but those 3 were head and shoulders above for me

Mk.gee - Two Star & The Dream Police
69

sounds nice but it never really goes anywhere

Jean Dawson - Pixel Bath
84

Used to be one of my favourite albums ever if not my favourite
sad to see how little i listen to it nowadays but i’ll be forever grateful to Jean

Summer 2000 - John Krasinski
71

pretty standard emo

Grouper - Dragging a Dead Deer Up a Hill
82

this mix of ambient and folk in such a haunting way is really special, it sets its somber atmosphere amazingly.
