Tom Waits - Rain Dogs
78

this thing was super interesting - i love his voice but it’s a little inconsistent and the more blues-y songs just aren’t for me

Cloud Nothings - Attack on Memory
86

yes. “Attack on Memory” is a strong Emo Rock record that serves up plenty of brilliant tracks. Solid writing, instrumentally interesting, strong vocally. It’s just a really really great project

Girls In Synthesis - Now Here's An Echo From Your Future
77

a really solid, noisy, post-hardcore album! that’s about it really, if you’re a fan of industrial, noisy rock with some emo tinges this might be right up your street, it has some great moments on it

billy woods - History Will Absolve Me
79

Abstract, hard hitting and sonically interesting, “History Will Absolve Me” is a solid record from Billy Woods - but it suffers from some bloating and inconsistency

Massive Attack - Mezzanine
82

it’s really cool, the cold atmospheres and the industrial palettes are brilliant, and it makes for some moments of magic - but on the whole the project feels a little void of something, a little flare here and there. despite this, it’s generally a beautifully haunting project.

PJ Harvey - Stories from the City, Stories from the Sea
81

it’s not perfect, it’s a little rough in some places but i really like some of the ideas here, there are a few really cool moments, despite some parts feeling quite jangly which isn’t for me

Comus - First Utterance
62

this thing is goofy as fuck

King Crimson - Red
80

it’s just not as good as ‘In The Court Of The Crimson King’ is it

Basement - Colourmeinkindness
83

slightly weak on the back end but these are some really great post hardcore songs - especially the first two

Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin IV
82

this thing has some bangers, it’s not the most consistent record out there but when it hits - it hits.

A1TH - off my shoulders
73

WHO is underrating ‘like i never left’????
on the whole it’s a really interesting listen, the production is super fresh and crisp, flows are tight, i didn’t spot any obvious holes in the writing, vocally i don’t have any issues, and it’s an exciting, engaging listen.
sure it’s not perfect - but A1TH is still so young and it’s expected for some refinement to be needed
very cool how the ‘Class In Session’ kid bas dropped one of the best ... read more

Wisp - Pandora
84

EP of the year so far (probably only until Maruja drop though…)
the title track is incredible and of course so is your face but everyone knows that.
Wisp once again proves to be one of the very very best shoegaze artists out right now

RiTchie - Triple Digits [112]
80

yeah probably the best hiphop project of the year so far!
creative, interesting and catchy, ‘Triple Digits [112] is a solid debut from the Injury Reserve / By Storm rapper

Concrete Boys - It's Us Vol. 1
65

this album was so strange i need a new format…
so here are my main takeaways from ‘IT’S US VOL.1’
-Who let them sample Pinegrove… and make it JERSEY??
-Karrahboo haters are just sexist she goes hard
-generally the beats were unoriginal and kinda boring
-the over-reliance on lazy sampling isn’t fun
-yachty proves why he’s by far the most popular member

J. Cole - Might Delete Later
48

he trynna kick himself out of the big 3 with this one

SENTRIES - Snow as a Metaphor for Death
84

yes yes yes i’m so glad i ended up checking this out, noise and industrial rock with post hardcore makes for a brilliant combination, the vocals remind me of some Gilla Band stuff and it’s a great little project. the first two tracks especially

Heatmiser - Mic City Sons
79

woah guys elliott smith can make good music
who would’ve thought right!!

Sigur Rós - ( )
83

another intense journey from Sigur Rós
exceptional

The Microphones - Mount Eerie
90

this is one of the most immersive first listens i’ve ever experienced
i’ve been a fan of Phil Elverum’s work for a little while now, so this one’s been long overdue, though i did not expect for it to be the journey that it was.
Everyone has their climb up ‘Mount Eerie’, and on this project, The Microphones take you with them on a journey up to the summit, but this time as a spectator. you feel yourself trudging up the hill, watching on as you take step after ... read more

ANOHNI and the Johnsons - I Am a Bird Now
83

powerful and heavy - ANOHNI’s vocals are one of a kind and leave you entranced in their world of hurting on ‘I Am a Bird Now’. a great, touching effort
