99.9% is one of my favorite albums ever, and in all honesty nothing Kaytranada has done since then has hit the same for me. Not Bubba, not Timeless, and not really any of the songs he produced for others with the exception of that one he has on the Mach-Hommy album with 03 Greedo.
But THIS. This is the Kaytranada I'm familiar with. It's a return to what I felt when I listened to 99.9% for the first time with it's incredible samples and irresistibly groovy basslines.

JID is borderline cringe to me. I used to listen to him heavy in '16/17, but it feels l grew out of it. I can only listen to his miracle lyrical type of bippidi boppidi rapping for so long before I've had enough. IMO he's much more enjoyable as a feature for that reason. I also would rather him not do soul lol like can we just make a hit bro. It's never felt like it totally works for him. For example the minute+ intro on Of Blue just feels a little out of place.
That being ... read more
All imma say is if you like this and don't like early Skrillex EPs/Recess, it's insincere and you probably only liking it for the skrillex hype.
There are few rappers that are as enjoyable as Vince Staples. His dynamic and energetic flow deserves to be recognized as one the the best that rap has seen. His first EP "Hell Can Wait" and LP "Summertime '06" have cemented themselves as classics in my mind. Considering how good everything he released from 2014 to 2017 was (even 2018's "FM!" has great highs), it's understandable that many of us feel like his most recent projects come off as underwhelming, even ... read more
One of the most forward-thinking and BEST voices in music right now returns with her highly anticipated album, and it does not disappoint. Rosalía’s MOTOMAMI totally captures your attention and grips it until the last second. I could learn Spanish just to listen to her music - what a beautiful language.
Tysm for 100 followers!! Music is such an important and ever-present part of my life, which is why I appreciate all those who take the time to read my reviews. I take every ... read more
Take a sip of Veuve, Spain vs. Liverpool.
As a Liverpool fan I am thoroughly confused.
I care that you’re stressed Conway 🥺
This has gotta be a top Griselda project.
gf perfectly summed this up as, “If Hot Topic we’re an album”
100th review!! Thank you to all that read my reviews, I’ve enjoyed using this website a lot :)
This is a great collection of relaxing beats to put on while you do something. A classic study album for me. Tomppabeats feels considerably better than most lofi hip hop producers. His sampling skills/selection is exceptional, drums are crispy, but most of all the warm rhythms he's able to create are one of a kind.
.My top 5 tracks from Harbor are Far Away, Summer Crush, Monday Loop, Will You Stay Here With Me, and Emotional Crank. The rest of the album remains surprising well, and its a ... read more
This is a PERFECT soundtrack to what is one of the most important video games ever. I could speak for lengths on Minecraft's brilliance, or the experiences I had while playing throughout most of my childhood, but i'll refrain. Minecraft is magical, and almost everyone who's played it will know what I mean. If you haven't, or if you're asking yourself, "Could Minecraft/this soundtrack TRULY be this special?" - I promise you.. it is. Maybe look up a video essay about Minecraft, I'm sure ... read more
Sure, this album’s got some dull moments but they are completely outweighed by the handful of moments that show Future at 100% and his iconic personality that perfectly encapsulates trap music.
So many songs just never get old - Rent Money, Zoomin, POA, Outta Time, I’m so Groovy, Poppin Tags, and Feds Did A Sweep are all songs that I’ve been regularly playing since they were released. Oh and we can’t forget about Mask Off. It’s been terribly overplayed (this one ... read more
Yung Kayo makes it clear from the very beginning that he’s not your run of the mill rapper.
Whole Lotta Red’s effect on rap was inevitable, and it feels like this is one of the first of what will be many projects where we can cite WLR as a major influence. I was also able to spot what felt to me like influences from Jay Critch, Trippie Redd, and several others. Yung Kayo isn’t blatantly copying anyone though, and what I think is special about DFTK is he’s able to take ... read more
Gunna doesn’t get the credit he deserves for this. If there’s one word to describe him on Drip or Drown 2, it’s effortless. Gunna just glides on top of these beats with so much ease. The album’s luxurious sound is executed flawlessly. Meant to be blasted while cruising thru the city or just smoke/vibe to.
When the first Shotta Flow released I thought, "Ayoo NLE is hard!!"
From that point on my approval of him rapidly declined OOF Why do we now have SIX installments of it? No but seriously, that was four years ago - I feel like I've grown out of that in a sense.. how has NLE Choppa not yet?
It's like is when he picks something up, he runs with it for WAY too long. On "Jumpin" with Polo G he does that stutter and it's kinda cool but it's is a shame because he ruins it by ... read more
Souvlaki is just sooo dreamy yo. Like SO dreamy. It’s as if Slowdive are the architects of a dream set in Paris, France and you’re thrown in it. But then all of a sudden you’re sent to a dream WITHIN the dream. This time it’s snowy, set on a desolate mountain in Alberta, Canada. I had to flip a coin just to make sure I was in the real world. Damn, they should make this a movie..
I’m struggling with how to feel about this project. First of all, I respect the natural creation process behind it. Have A Nice Life is exploring the meaning of existence, and it’s fueled by the passing of one of the band member’s father. The lyrics can be beautifully metaphorical in some instances, but painfully blunt in others. Much is left to one’s own interpretation though, so many listeners have found their own meaning. It seems that the real value in ... read more
I went into this album not knowing a thing about it. Before listening to music I'll usually know how other people liked it (which is probably a bad habit if I want to give an honest and unbiased opinion on it). I'll know who the artist is, or at least know what genre it'll be. Going into this, that was all a mystery to me.
That made this a pretty suspenseful listen, especially after the intro which left me with the impression that it could go in any direction. The resulting direction is one ... read more
