I enjoyed Untitled (Black Is), but I saw room for improvement. Unfortunately, this project feels a little less cohesive.
Untitled (Rise) is a solid album, but it’s still a little long and there are too many moments that don’t feel fully fleshed out. The highlights on here don’t match those on Black Is, even if I do like a lot of what’s on here. A lot of talent and potential here, but I think they need to take a little more time and make their next release a little more ... read more
"I only been rapping for an hour, some say I'm better than Nicki and Chance the Rapper"
This was the most bizarre way to spend 5 minutes of my day. Why does this exist? Why do songs just randomly end? How did this get uploaded to streaming? Why do I enjoy it?
-5 for “Picking fights like it’s Fortnite”
In all seriousness, Jaguar is a very sensual and smooth R&B record, but it feels a little basic at times. There are some good highlights, but some songs don’t always hit like they could. The production is solid, but the songwriting isn’t anything crazy and could be a little better. There is a lot of potential here though, and I’m excited to see what she does going forward.

Well, at least there’s nothing as bad as Stepdad or Those Kinda Nights on here...even if Gnat exists.
Look, I’m not a fan of MTBMB, but going into Eminem projects I’m always hopeful that he’ll come through. I was hoping he would shed the laughably bad and corny moments that held his last few albums back, and I was also hoping he would stop whining about Revival’s reception. Well, the latter happened, but he still is incredibly corny on here.
I do think the side B ... read more
This is terrible and No Service may be the worst song of the year.
Some people had an issue with me giving Daystar a 0 without listening to the whole thing. “Separate the art” they say, but you can’t really separate the art from the artist when the artists’s actions are the topic of the music, but this time I actually listened to the leak of the album and gave it a chance. I won’t even bring up the shit with Megan as it isn’t really involved with the music ... read more
I had never heard of this and didn’t know anything about Sault, and I still don’t, as they’re incredibly mysterious. But I saw both this and the other untitled record in a lot of year end lists, so I decided to check them
both out. I’m starting here, and while it is really good, I still think there’s room for improvement.
Untitled (Black Is) is a really good protest album, but it’s not perfect. It’s a little long, and many moments feel underdeveloped. ... read more
“This beat sounds like a long walk to the dumpster”
“I wonder if Chance The Rapper does his own laundry, who cares?”
I truly don’t know what the fuck he’s talking about most of the time but it sounds really good.
This album is just a really enjoyable jazz rap album with fantastic production and quirky verses from R.A.P. Ferreira. It’s experimental, but it’s not too disjointed to connect with for me. This album feels like it knows what it wants ... read more
I had heard of ARCA before this album, but I had never heard a song. I decided to check this out, and I really wanted to love it. But while I do like a lot of this, the albums feels a little too messy for me to really connect with it deeper. There are some moments on here that I like and really grab my attention, but overall it just feels too directionless and I don’t see myself returning to this entire album much. Definitely a lot of potential though.

This was recommended to me, and I’m really glad it was.
I had never heard of this project, but Marlowe 2 is one of the best hip-hop projects of the year. It features some fantastic production from L’Orange, which is actually some of the best I’ve heard this year, and great verses and performances throughout from Solemn Brigham, who has a charisma and an energy when he raps that is captivating. The album is a little too long, but there isn’t a single bad song on here, ... read more
It took me a while to get to this, but I’m glad I did.
Color Theory is an enjoyable album with some really solid songwriting and great production. There’s a lot of quality tracks on here, even if some songs don’t always connect or go on for a little too long.

I had never heard Ka’s music, but I saw many people praising this and decided to check it out. And well, it’s impressive and I like it, but I haven’t fallen in love with it yet.
Ka is very obviously talented as a lyricist and a rapper, but his lack of energy and charisma on many of these songs make it easy to find yourself bored. The production also feels like background music at many times, which significantly affects the album’s replay value as well. I do like the ... read more
After listening to his other releases from 2020, I think I can say that this is my favorite release of his this year.
I liked his other releases, but my main issues were that Boldy’s slow flows could get boring, and the production, while impressive, didn’t really lift him up. But on here, I think production is on par with the production from the Alchemist project he did, but this time there is more energy and more of a sense of urgency in Boldy’s delivery. The songs feel a ... read more
After hearing The Price of Tea In China, I was hoping this project would have some great production and more charisma from Boldy James. Well, we definitely got interesting production, but unfortunately this album kinda feels like a mess, even if it’s impressive.
While the production is very impressive, I don’t think it works a lot of the time, as it just seems disconnected from Boldy’s rapping. Boldy’s slow flow and monotonous delivery is also just a little too boring ... read more
I’m finally listening to all of Boldy James’s albums from 2020, so I started here. And this is actually pretty good.
This is one of the better boom-bap projects I’ve heard this year. It stands out, and I think it mainly does that because of The Alchemist, who brought some solid production, Boldy James himself, and the features. The production is lavish and sounds really good, but I probably have heard better from Alchemist this year. And while I do think Boldy comes through ... read more
I had never heard of Natalia Lafourcade, but I saw the praise this was getting and decided to check it out. And while it’s certainly not my typical style, I definitely appreciate it and can’t deny that it’s a solid record.
Un Canto Por Mexico, Vol 1 has some really beautiful moments. Apparently some of these are covers, but I don’t know the originals so to me these are all brand new songs. I can tell that a lot of time and care went into this though, even if I ... read more
I saw this on the new music section of Apple Music and got curious. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I was hoping this wouldn’t be your typical generic R&B album in this lane, but it is absolutely not that.
Hues is a very solid R&B album that showcases Fana Hue’s talent and potential, with great vocals and really solid songwriting. The vocal mixing isn’t always great, and the production could be a little more adventurous at times, but overall the project sounds ... read more
I had never heard Channel Tres before, but seeing the Tyler feature intrigued me. And this is a solid project, even if I think it feels a little too devoid of an identity for me to really connect with.
I like what he’s doing on here, but I don’t think it’s executed as good as it could have been. The production is solid, but the songwriting and performances leave a little to be desired at times. Nevertheless, he has a lot of potential, and the songs on here, while not perfect, ... read more
Even if the music on here wasn’t unironically good, I’d still be enjoying this Mario Judah rollout. I find him incredibly entertaining and think this is a great marketing tactic. But the fact that the music on here is: a) very very enjoyable, b) Sounds exactly like Carti, and c) Has a high production value, makes this even better.
The production on here is genuinely some of the best psychedelic trap production I’ve heard all year. And his Playboi Carti-esque baby voice is ... read more
It’s not terrible, but it’s not one of the better Juice songs I’ve heard. Neither Juice or The Kid LAROI were bad on here though, and the beat was solid, even if it was pretty generic.
