Remo Drive - Greatest Hits
98

FAVORITE TRACK: Strawberita

LEAST FAVORITE TRACK: Summertime

Oh man I don't even know how to start with this album. This album came out my freshman year of high school and I felt like I hit a gold mine. It was so refreshing and brash and Remo Drive was doing it like no one else because every emo band was either dying (as Remo dropped this album around the time when Modern Baseball was calling it quits) or switching to softer more heartfelt music. But Remo dropped a pop-punk bomb, a real one. ... read more

Rebecca Black - Friday (Remix)

This would be a perfect song if you took Rebecca Black off of it I think.

TV Priest - Uppers

FAVORITE TRACK: Slideshow

LEAST FAVORITE TRACK: the ref

British post-punk has been on an incredible streak for the past three or so years. There’s some heavy hitters in the genre and then there’s TV Priest, an up-and-coming act within the scene.

Uppers is a somewhat messy but overall fun punk project. The lyrics are very on-the-nose and funny at times. But the vocals are the best part of this record. The singing on tracks like Slideshow are a standout. The guitar on this is also ... read more

slowthai - TYRON

FAVORITE TRACKS: adhd, push

LEAST FAVORITE TRACK: PLAY WITH FIRE

I love Nothing Great About Britain. It’s one of my favorite albums of the past decade and slowthai has been one of the most exciting acts to appear. I’ve loved every release in his career so far and hearing him as a feature is always a treat. This is probably my most anticipated release of the year and, just from hearing the intro to this album alone, I knew I was in for something good.

TYRON is an intense and ... read more

JPEGMAFIA - EP2!

FAVORITE TRACK: LAST DANCE!

LEAST FAVORITE TRACK: FEED HER!

Dude I'm really not rockin' with this !!! Which is super disappointing because I love Peggy but this one is not doing it for me. EP2! does not have the life source EP1! did and this comes with half the fun. Peggy stays at a pretty monotone pace the whole project.

However, this EP has great beats and production with the triumphant repeat on tracks like FIX URSELF! and LAST DANCE! fitting in nicely.

Jacob Collier - Jacobean Chill
65

FAVORITE TRACK: In Too Deep

LEAST FAVORITE TRACK: Time to Rest Your Weary head

This is my first time listening to Jacob Collier. He's an artist I've heard of but never one I had interest in really listening to. But I really enjoyed this project. it's very chill and pretty. Jacob Collier has great vocals on Sky Above and The Sun in Your Eyes. The features on this are used wonderfully- Kiana Ledé hits it out of the ballpark on this one. This is a really calm EP to listen to soft ... read more

Wishing - A Giant Explosion Far Away
80

FAVORITE TRACK: Fruit of the Past

LEAST FAVORITE TRACK: IDC

After a two year hiatus from music, Wishing came back in 2020 with an LP and a surprise EP as well. A Giant Explosion Far Away is a dark EP and some of wishing's best work. It's disturbing and sad but placed above dreamy beats to create something contrasting and great.

Buffalo is this droney, depressing song with dreamy backing tracks that fade into this happy, acoustic beat so nicely. Maple is the most clear wishing has every ... read more

FAVORITE TRACK: GASLIGHT!

LEAST FAVORITE TRACK: Love Songs

A friend of mine recommended this for me and it makes me very happy when people hear music and think about me so I was very excited for this one.

I didn’t really know what to make of this at first. Knife Under My Pillow has a pop-punk feel to it and seems very inspired by acts like blink-182 or Green Day.

And then GASLIGHT! hits you like a fucking train.

The screaming on it is a complete shock and done really well. The verses ... read more

Nancy - The Seven Foot Tall Post-Suicidal Feel Good Blues
86

FAVORITE TRACK: Psycho Vision

LEAST FAVORITE TRACK: Happy Happy Happy

I really really love how weird this is. The Seven Foot Tall Post-Suicidal Feel Good Blues feels like what Ariel Pink would make if he didn’t take himself so seriously. Nancy, a new name to me, is able to blend psychedelic rock with aspects of cheery-bubblegum pop to create something wonderful. Leave Your Cares Behind has a 60s feeling that feels so different to the intense and dark feeling of Pleasure Pen and the ... read more

Graeme James - The Weight of Many Winters
50

FAVORITE TRACK: The Voyage of James Caird

LEAST FAVORITE TRACK: The Weight of Many Winters

The Weight of Many Winters is a straight-forward and beautiful indie folk record. This EP touches on a lot of classic folk points but is brought to life by the beautiful instrumentals on songs like Northern Lights and The Votage of James Caird. The violins on this album are a highlight as well as Graeme James’ voice. He sounds wonderful on Time, a soulful and breaking song.

SOPHIE - OIL OF EVERY PEARL'S UN-INSIDES

Rest In Peace, beautiful. Thank you for everything. Your music will live forever and ever.

Weezer - OK Human
73

FAVORITE TRACK: Playing My Piano

LEAST FAVORITE TRACK: Mirror Image

I really, really wanted to like this record. And I think I do- I'm just very split on it. Of course there's cheesy lyrics and corny instrumentals but that's Weezer for you.

The instrumentals on this record are fun and carry into each song in a way that's engaging and shows a pattern throughout the whole record. The violin on a majority of these tracks like Numbers is super beautiful and sounds great on the album. Rivers ... read more

Kiwi Jr. - Cooler Returns
51

FAVORITE TRACK: Only Here for a Haircut

LEAST FAVORITE TRACK: Cooler Returns

Kiwi Jr.'s first album, Football Money, was a bit of a letdown for me. There was some tracks and aspects I loved about their sound but their messy punk sound fell short on a majority of the album. With a second album, I hoped Kiwi Jr. would be able to develop a more mature, tuned sound but still keep in touch with the whiny indie rock they carried on Football Money.

Cooler Returns is so mediocre and way too ... read more

Arca - Madre
60

FAVORITE TRACK: Madreviolo

LEAST FAVORITE TRACK: Madre Acapella

So I wasn't crazy about Arca's last full-length. I loved Time and KLK but the album as a whole just wasn't for me. But Arca is an artist I respect full even if her music hasn't always been my cup of tea so I was excited to hear something new from her.

Madre is a dark piece. But the charm of it kinda wears off once you realize it's the same song four times. The original track is dreamy with stunning vocals and the Madreviolo ... read more

Bicep - Isles
56

FAVORITE TRACK: Fir

LEAST FAVORITE TRACK: Apricots

So this is my first time hearing anything from the duo Bicep and I find this project quite boring. I'm not big on the ambient techno genre but I feel Bicep brings nothing to the table that I haven't heard from other acts like Gas or The Soft Pink Truth. It's very well-made with tracks like Fir and Atlas being catchy and spacey and the vocals from Julia Kent on River are a nice touch. But this project feels a but too long and simple to be ... read more

Wishing - None of This Was Your Fault
73

FAVORITE TRACK: Painkiller

LEAST FAVORITE TRACK: Where'd You Go?

Wishing's debut LP, To Forget, is a very beautiful and atmospheric debut. It combines a lot of lofi aspects I love to create songs that are lonely and lovely. The release of none of this was your fault, that came out five years later, is more mature and less filler.

none of this was your fault is more centered on the vocals than any post project. candles has a simple instrumental but vocals similar to Richie Woods or Beagles. ... read more

B. The Leo - Happy Scrapes
60

FAVORITE TRACK: Peaceful Rain

LEAST FAVORITE TRACK: I'm Home- Instrumental

So Happy Scrapes is the shorter sequel to Happy Shapes. It's more demos and instrumental tracks than Happy Shapes. This has a very similar feeling as Happy Shapes did with a childlike and mystical beat over most tracks. Peaceful Rain is a beautiful song and Mountain Face is a lot of fun. There's a really different and great, mysterious vibe on Space Puppy that sounds different than the mystical songs B. The Leo has ... read more

B. The Leo - Happy Shapes

FAVORITE TRACK: Candy Isle

LEAST FAVORITE TRACK: I'm Home

There is something so friendly and happy about this record Every song feels very cartoonish in a way that's never over the top and can be enjoyable in the background. Happy Shapes is very nostalgic and cute and pays homage to the soundtrack of shows like Adventure Time and Over the Garden Wall. Warm House, Happy Shape and Hug Science are cute and upbeat snd the repetition of tracks like Scary Backyard is great. The Ian in the Water and ... read more

Wishing - To Forget

FAVORITE TRACK: Emptiness is a Closet Full of Your Old Clothes

LEAST FAVORITE TRACK: American Cruelty

Wishing is a band I was surprised to see a lot less people knew. They're very in-vain with teen suicide, Elvis Depressedly, Infinity Crush and Bedroom- which are all artists I grew up listening to. So I wanted to give the most auto-generated recommended album for me a review on here.

To Forget is a long and lonely listen. The single, Emptiness is a Closet Full of Your Old Clothes, is sad ... read more
