My thoughts have changed on this album over time, and while I'm not a fan of everything on the album, I was surprised how many times I've come back to songs on this album like "Clear The Coast" "Vast And Vague" or "When Distance Is The Closest Reminder", in fact they've all become some of my favorites in the 36CF discography. Overall, this is a great post-hardcore/metalcore/nu-metal mix of an album and if you're into any of those genres, this ... read more
A dip in quality in favor of replicating their previous sound for cheap success, unfortunately it wasn't as successful as it was actually good.
A major step up from their debut only two years prior, 36CF strengthened their variety in sound, mixing nu-metal, metalcore, and post-hardcore to create a diverse, unique, and overall memorable album in a loaded era.
There is definitely some dragging but nothing worth skipping over. A great debut album from any band, 36CF show shades of Korn and Glassjaw throughout the album but still keep a pretty unique sound.
I'm more of a fan of FH when there was barely any clean singing, not that it's bad it's just very cut and paste, no variation.
I'm not a huge fan of the electronic elements but I can't deny that this is varied from the rest of the Metalcore revival scene.
Another improvement upon their last two albums, Constellations is peak ABR. This is the culmination of everything they were working towards from Thrill Seeker.
An improvement on what "Thrill Seeker" was meant to do, but also the moment August Burns Red really came into their own. Their first two albums laid the path for their whole career really well.
After my first full listen in a couple years, this album has aged so well it's ridiculous. No skips, every second is worth listening to.
Simply put, this album fucks. BYD struck Gold on this album with songs like "Magnolia", "The Color of Money", and both Mission Impossibles. Yes, the track list is all Tom Cruise movies, yes, it's a dumb idea, but they pulled it off and made a fantastic melodic hardcore album.
I didn't expect it to be on par with the last two albums but I'm not disappointed. John is still a hell of a singer/screamer, everyone did their best and it's a good song, just a tad bit generic for today's metal. There's about 40 bands that could've made this song and it would've been the same or a lower rating.
Whole Lotta Love opened this album so well, the rest pales in comparison. Still a solid effort but I don't think opening with Whole Lotta Love was the right move.
Best: "Whole Lotta Love"
Worst: "Bring It On Home"
Listen, DSOTM is classic. This is my first experience with it and I just feel like it's a bit overrated. There's too much build for no climax.
Best: "Money"
Worst: "On The Run"
Never knew Scenario was the last song on the album, when it came on I was expecting more but it was the end.. a solid album overall but nothing so crazy and catchy.
Best: "Scenario"
Worst: "Infamous Date Rape"
For a teenagers debut album, as an alt-pop/ASMR artist, it's a decent listen. Billie achieved a different sound than anyone else in the mainstream, broke through and changed the game.
Best: "you should see me in a crown"
Worst: "8"
Although You Oughta Know is its highest point, Jagged Little Pill fails to deliver anywhere close to the best song. It's honestly unpleasant to the ears.
Best: "You Oughta Know"
Worst: "You Learn"
I SLEPT ON THIS ALBUM FOR SO LONG, legitimately one of the best debuts by anyone ever. It's a must listen for anyone.
Haven't listened yet but I have to say, review bombing is so corny. Everyone knew what they were in for with this album coming out, it's Eminem. If you didn't expect him to do some corny "cancel me" type shit then you really don't understand what's going on here.
Update: Just finished my first listen, Em proved why he's a top 3 rapper. JID's feature was the only one that's worth relistening to.
Also, this album is better than Infinite and like ... read more
