A masterpiece. This makes me feel like I’m in another world. Sitting alone in the dark, smoking weird with my friends with this blasting is an experience I won’t have with any other album.
Emotional trap is future’s forte. This is the best project I’ve ever heard from him and I’ve had it on repeat all day since finding it. The first two songs are some of my two favorite future songs ever. Up there with his best.
A lot of these tracks feel like codeine crazy, ... read more
I hate everything about this. This is my abusive dad's favorite band and now that they have gone openly right wing he is blasting this album on repeat and it is god awful.
I didn’t even get horny. This sucks. Generic awful pop music, the sex positive stuff is cool but it’s done in the worst way.
Oh, and fuck dr Luke. Bleh
This dark, psychedelic pop album has depth that I did not realize it had until revisiting it and really digging into this songs recently. This was one of my favorite albums as a heavy LSD-using teenager, When You Die was my tripping song and I felt that song on a level I am not sure I have ever felt any other piece of art up to that point. It helped me confront death, it helped me accept that everything I love is finite and that I am going to lose everyone I love one day. It made me realize ... read more
My favorite Hov album, this is a mature and beautiful masterpiece. The laid back flows that almost feel like he is just talking, mixed with the extremely personal lyrics on top of these soulful beats is magic that I have never heard another rapper capture.
It says a lot that he is reaching new highs this far into his career, he is a true artist. This is like Ye by Kanye but twice as good.
I was really into the first three songs. They reminded me of being a kid in 2010 and hearing Katy Perry and Superbass by Nicki on KISS FM,
But this thing took the biggest nosedive I have ever seen a pop album take after the great King of Hearts. These songs were cringe inducing, redundant, vapid of creativity and boring. I am really rooting for Kim, I feel like she has great potential to bring that early 2010's pop that I love so much back, but this is not it. At all.
And since they put ... read more
This album was so much fun!! I was smiling ear to ear when I heard the jail phone skit on the intro followed with that amazing beat switch and there are some seriously amazing tracks to be found here. Cars Bring Me Out, Wit Da Racks and Jonesboro are, dare I say, some of the best Young Thug songs ever.
Even the few moments here that are technically filler like Gucci Grocery Bag are entertaining, have great beats and lyrics or vocal inflections that keep you hooked.
This is easily my favorite ... read more
This is fuzzy, melodic, shoegaze with female vocals done right, the first half feels very mbv inspired and the second half takes some risks (like with pocket) that I don't think I have ever heard before. Her voice is beautiful and the use of stops, fuzz and distortion really gives this album a noise-pop inspired sound.
This album is so rich in its many many sounds, so many danceable moments and ear worm melodies. This album has some of the best use of sampling I’ve ever come across, and songs like frontier psychiatrist are downright weird and extremely experimental for its time and its genre.
Yes this album is technically amazing, it’s a classic and deserves all of the praise and respect it has but something I don’t see mentioned enough is how much FUN these songs are. The lyrics feel ... read more
My all-time favorite KGATLW album, from the music to the story to the art. I think it’s one of their best and their most enjoyable listen for anyone who enjoys psychedelic prog rock.
Surprisingly, the only song here I don’t absolutely love is Crumbling Castle, there are moments that I love but it gives me a “doom” feeling with the way Stu repeats his lyrics and it drags on a little too long.
Everything else here is absolutely perfect. It’s a great record to just ... read more
Gizzard’s White Album. There’s some hidden gems in this track list, with the amount of different genres covered it’s extremely surprising how consistently amazing this track list is. This felt like the beginning of the “jam period” of their career, with The Dripping Tap being my absolute favorite song of theirs ever.
There are some serious bangers here that I loved, Bread & Butter, Back At It, Ca$h $hit, back to the moon, and Go Crazy are all amazing songs. This album has an insanely strong start with the sliding guitars and powerful flows of back at it and back to the moon.
But…. Let’s be honest, Gunna just can’t carry a 15 track album by himself. A lot of these songs are so boring and so repetitive, it’s a mind numbing listen and more of a chore than an enjoyable time. If ... read more
The majority of these tracks are absolutely amazing. There are others that don’t do anything for me, (such as Something For Junkies).
But even if it doesn’t sound good to me, it has heart and a really strong meaning. This made me want to get into run the jewels, this is the first offering from killer Mike I’ve ever heard. The El-P feature on here was one of my favorite verses on the album and the soul best on that track was beautiful. I really think the production works the ... read more
My favorite heavy KGATLW album. This thing kicks ass front to back and had some really fun jam/thrash moments.
Gila Monster-Flamethrower are the highlights for me, the drumming in flamethrower along with the trance piece at the very end left me absolutely mesmerized.
I can’t wait to see these songs live, Stu’s voice and guitar riffs have NEVER been more solid or interesting.
Fuck this album goes hard. I am going to stop typing this and go back to listening.
Atmospheric. Beautiful. Colorful. Peaceful.
There are moments in this album that are so sonically beautiful and spiritually touching that the music feels otherworldly. I liked the intro, it was pretty and everything, but blooberg gave me a feeling of awe that I am used to feeling from their older work. That’s when I knew they still had it.
I also want to point out how stunning I think the album cover is, it seems to compliment the music very well. The music here is very uplifting and ... read more
Versatile in the worst way. I am a fan of X and I really really do not like this album, he lost me here. Feels like he was trying to do a little bit of everything with this, but it was practically all low quality with moments of extreme goofiness.
I do like some of the songs here (sad, hope) but not enough to offset the shitty tracks (&&$, pain).
I love every thing about this. The skits and samples are so creative. The food references are awesome and this is DOOM at the top of his game.
Flows are so smooth, lyrics are beyond clever and these beats are fucking classics. Can’t believe this was released the same year as madvilliany.
This IS lightening in a bottle. RIP DOOM
My favorite story telling hip hop album of all time. So many great hits on here that I remember hearing on the radio when I was 12. This was Kendrick’s first masterpiece.
Tracks like Maad City and Backseat Freestyle are timeless to me and I’m sure I will always be listening to them.
The best rapper and the best producer of their time come together to create the best hip hop album of their time.
Timeless, classic, masterpiece, etc…
This album is just so much fun to listen to. It’s so creative, MF Doom flows like butter over these god-tier beats. This is one of those albums that feels too good to be true.
