One of my favorite ambient albums ever, I have grown very close with it over the years. I used to listen to this a lot when I would take naps on long flights or while waiting at the airport.
It then became a part of my night time routine when it came time to turn my phone off and go to sleep. The funny thing is, I am not sure I have ever really put this on and listened to it closely, the time (or two) I tried it put me to sleep, which is not really a fault of the album but says more about my ... read more
The beauty of this one is beyond words. This is an ambient folk album that sounds like you and your three best friends sitting on rocks surrounding a crackling fire in the Appalachians in the middle of spring. The smell of the nearby lake, the wall of sounds created by the buzzing insects and the comradery and peace you feel in the presence of people you love. You have that deep feeling of appreciation and accompanied with thoughts that make it clear to you that these are the kinds of nights ... read more
I love how all over the place Debut is. This album holds a very special place in my life, along with ever early bjork album. There isn’t a bad song here, but her highs on her later albums are much higher.
Debut has some of my favorite bjork songs, human behavior and like someone in love were some of the songs that made me a fan. I think this and Post are treat places to start for new fans, it’s clear immediately on her debut how special of a talent she is, how chilling and unique ... read more
How have I never heard this ?
The beats were phenomenal, some of the best I’ve ever heard from Al period. The rapping was solid, I’m not the biggest fan of dom but he held his own and the features brought enough variation to never get boring. This was a fun listen
This is a hot take; but this is my personal favorite MJ album. No, I didn’t say it is his best. But it is my favorite to play front to back, there are so many great moments here. This album is criminally underrated.
From the very first song Jam, there is something about the way the beat and his vocals seem to be doing this aggressive dance that he’s never done on any other album and it works so well as an opener. It’s nearly impossible to hear this song and not want to move. ... read more
My favorite noise album of all time, Essplode may be my favorite AC song. This thing gets a lot of hate because it is not very accessible with the dog whistles here (lol) but if you can get past that this album has a lot of great moments and some really cool sounds to offer.
The first five songs are extremely strong for me, then it kind of gets a little uninteresting but I do not see this as the weak spot in their discography that most people do: I admire it for being as experimental as it is ... read more
I really really do not like this album. From the preachy lyrics, the awful songs, the cringe inducing edward voice (what the fuck was he thinking with that)
I remember hating this thing when it dropped with Kevins Heart and the intro being the only ones I liked. And the Cut Off, but now that may be my least favorite here god it is so corny.
I think this is J cole at his worst: his most pretentious and his least artistic. This dude seems to understand so little about addiction with some of the ... read more
This album is so fun to me.
This has me thinking about my personal enjoyment of music versus how "objectively good" I think something is.
When I am rating an album I am purely rating my enjoyment level, and it is a weird feeling to realize that there are so many profound and amazing albums out there that I just do not get much enjoyment out of while definitely being "better" than this album.
Just like Animal, this is mindless fun and I enjoy every song here. I do not ... read more
This album is just mindless fun. It may be the most dated, the most trashy and some of the corniest songs ever released in this genre and I LOVE it.
This was my favorite pop album as a kid and I still thoroughly enjoy most of the songs here when I revisit it. There really is not anything profound I can say here since the music is literally the exact opposite of profound but the influence Kesha had is really not appreicated enough. You can hear the roots of a lot of hyperpop music here in songs ... read more
I just decided to listen to this for the first time and wow this album is packed with hits and nostalgia from my childhood; all while being a genuinely great pop album. It sounds very of its time in the best way and I really love her use of auto tune on songs like Dance in the Dark. I had never heard So Happy I Could Die before and I was extremely surprised that I enjoyed this more than a lot of her biggest hits.
The only two I was not crazy about was Teeth and Speechless but they were not ... read more
His best album but still nothing I’d ever purposely try to listen to
The hook on candy was fun and there’s some real emotion here. I respect it more than his pop punk stuff.
it’s like hes cosplaying as an angsty 19 year old from 2002
I’ll be happy as long as I never have to sit through this again. I have a friend who loves this album and I don’t know how I’m going to look them in the eyes tomorrow (joking, but I don’t get it)
I wa a huge fan in 2012 with laceup and I really loved black flag but this is bottom of the barrel crap
Nemnem really dissed him so hard he switched genres! Let this album serve as an example of what happens ... read more
What the fuck how did his music get worse from his last record?? The only one I like here is ay and I still think it’s trash
Was pop punk always this bad? Or is it just when he does it?
There’s a charm here in these songs that I can’t quite put my finger on, a lot of this is corny and didn’t age well at all (even in comparison with blurryface) but I grew up with this album.
Actually, this was my favorite album ever for a long time. So maybe it’s just my nostalgia, but songs like ode to sleep and screen still stir something inside of me.
Holding onto you and car radio had the rap crossover appeal I needed as a preteen to be sold and become a fan, and ... read more
This review I wrote is a good example of someone trying to be objective with music rather than just liking what they like.
I love blurryface, yes it’s flawed and outdated but stressed out is a 10 out of 10 for me even if it’s a little silly and overplayed.
I scream every word to rice when it comes n even if it has the silly reggae vibe.
His voice is a little overproduced and clean on some of these songs but it still sounds great.
I grew up on this album and I love it. Like what ... read more
EDIT 98->100
Bandito is not a lowlight. Everything here is perfect, and a lot of these songs (with the lore taken into account) are beyond perfect. I feel this album so deeply in my soul, this is one of the best albums of all time. Even with all of the praise it gets, it’s still severely underrated. Smithereens is the only song here that’s not a 10/10, but it’s sure as hell close to it. It walks the line of being corny, but it’s sincerity makes up for it in my mind. I ... read more

I love some of these songs they’re just fun. This album is something of a guilty pleasure, although I don’t really believe in that.
I understand it’s not great, but I actually like a lot of the songs here. I’m not sure why, but a lot of them just work.
I do not think it’s a good album though. I think never take it, bounce man and choker are god awful.
But I really think Saturday and the outside are a lot of fun. Every time they come on I’m ... read more
The perfect hip hop album. I love this thing more than I can put into words. It’s dark, experimental, catchy, funny and so full of musical perfection.
His flows, wordplay, beats and everything you expect from hip hop music is on TEN here. There is not one full or misplaced moment on this entire album. I only found it recently and it was all I listened to for a month.
I was drawn in the first time I heard downward spiral, I remember playing it 3 times before even going to the next song. ... read more
This is one of the best themes I’ve ever seen covered in music. I never really liked this album much growing up, I know the more popular songs and even like a good chunk of the tracks here; but today I gave it a relisten and I felt the strongest connection I have ever felt through music towards the type of man J. Cole is describing here. The societal influences, the poverty, the feeling like a criminal, the addiction to making money off of drugs; it gave me a deep understanding of what a ... read more

This album took years for me to fully digest and appreciate. I can now confidently say that, to me, its 100% on par with TPAB. I feel like this is a wildly misunderstood album. Every single song is perfect in its own way and serves its purpose to create one of the most dense and complex pieces of art I’ve ever witnessed. Period.
And it just happens to be a gigantic commercial success with some of the best hip hop songs I’ve ever heard?
Insane.
