I gave it an official listen, since I started this sort of "rant" where I listened very famous albums or classics in their genre, and it did not dissapoint, it says enough that it feels like to listen to a Greatest Hits... it's incredible how this album has managed to beat the test of time with these timeless hits and with this production (Quincy Jones๐). I think it's one of those albums that for that undeniable impact and being universally loved precisely for these hit ... read more
HOLY S**T
yea... this is good,
on this version of LP! there are some differences, for example some extended verses, the sample are used in a different manner etc.
but what really made the difference is the difference in mastering, I felt like the rough, grimy feel that those songs had, disapperead. Just if peggy put a filter in front on the microphone for the first time... jokes aside, this made the track a lot more climatics, and the words and sample appeal more. There are still some songs ... read more
I have yet to listen to the offline version and then I will give my thoughts in retrospect after hearing both but for now I am very impressed by the raw almost unmixed production of the online version. I don't know what to expect from the offline version...
I also listened to the "OFFLINE!" version, and even if I like the that one more, I think it was used as a "director's cut" and this is the more... raw essence of the album, I don't mind having more ... read more
A fucking masterpiece... touches unexplored areas of hip hop with all these productions full of samples in these very abstract themes that have now become iconic. If you actually go into the details of madlib's production you understand how much this album holds up to the comparison that everyone holds it to between the choice of samples of the bits and the artistic editions that madlib takes to match the narrative of the song to the sample. Then MF DOOM's lyricism is not the classic ... read more
This is an album I listened to a long time ago that I forgot to review, it's a really chill album, I really liked it on impact, this is the type of album you can use instead of going to therapy for a bad bitch.
I was going through some sample-heavy hip-hop music and stumbled upon this album. I wasn't aware of its existence, but I wasn't disappointed even though it's a remix album, so nothing new, but madlib's production still managed to grab me a bit. I still think the mix of the original album is better and this album is still to dig up the grave of an incredible album but as a fan it is still something fun, especially since they're not just songs from the original album. I ... read more
I'm really amazed at how much Mac was able to create a narrative, a world, an atmosphere, such a really strong vibe. It's such a warm project that makes you feel familiar with it., it really sucks you into it.
... read more
these additions aren't the best songs ever, but damn at least they're something, I would have definitely preferred this kind of songs on the album without any junk that would drag out the whole process, still the beats hard carry it...
damnnn the clap of my balls sounds better than this shit...๐
couldn't bring myself to listen to all of it, it was one of the most boring experience I had to go through, even the "highlights" are really mediocre.
NON C'E' NIENTE DA FARE, ANCHE DALL'INIZIO, E' SEMPRE STATO PIU' IN ALTO DEGLI ALTRI
My first Radiohead album, and one of my first rock/alternative rock album in general, coming from a completely different sound I found myself completely struck by the sound of this, I am completely shocked and blown away by it. Even though I have not studied it in detail, it takes little to understand the main themes that the album deals with and how it is a visionary and futuristic album, from the electronic components to the themes precisely.
I am writing this review after a few listens, I ... read more
