I think this will be a shorter review as I don’t think it requires a long review in this case. if you’ve ever heard a man osees album before you know what you’re getting from this album, heavy garage rock mixed with psychedelia throughout and with the more recent releases it feels like they’ve been dabbling with hardcore punk sounds a bit more. Whilst you could say that them making an album in the same genre every year feels a bit repetitive at this point, I think ... read more
The third Madonna album in her discography and the third I have been listening to recently as I go through Madonna’s back catalogue. I really wanted to like this one, after loving the debut and enjoying the follow up a fair bit albeit not to the same extent, I had a positive outlook going into this album and it makes me sad to sad that as an album I did not get much enjoyment from this album
I want to start with the positive this is probably Madonna’s most daring and varied album ... read more
First time ever listening to a Freddie Gibbs’s album, thought I might as well go back and listen to Alfredo which I never heard when it came out before I listen to Alfredo 2. Overall I was very impressed
Produced by alchemist who’s reputation at this point precedes him and someone’s production who I remember loving on earl sweatshirts last album and I just want to say on this album he absolutely knocks it out the park on this one. Every song has these really rich and luscious ... read more
Tyler’s second album in the past 12 months, following his last album Chromakopia, this project differs in many ways from his previous coming in at a much shorter length, clocking in at just under half an album and seemingly dispensing with the more personal and serious topics of his last album and making a much more fun and party album for the most part.
The first thing about this album which I think is the most noticeable thing on this album is the production, Tyler really came to show ... read more
Madonna’s second album after her impressive self titled debut and the second album I am listening to in my journey through Madonna’s whole discography. It follows in very much the same direction as the debut with the same dance pop and 80s synth pop songs however I believe this time the songs on a whole don’t have the same consistency and punch that the first album possesses.
The intro to the album starts off with its best song with the famous Material Girl . The song is a ... read more
The third and final of the three classic Misfits albums and perhaps the most distinct amongst the three as it sounds significantly more fast and aggressive than the previous two aligning itself more with hardcore punk than any other genre the band could come under the label of. I believe Danzig himself is not too fond of this release, I remember reading this in an article about the band a while back when I came to review in Now, I could not find the source so not too sure about that one. Also ... read more
The second Misfits album after the new originally unreleased Static Age. This largely carries on in the same direction as the first album however clocking in at a much shorter length.
I think the biggest positive thing this album does maybe even more than the original is lean into the campiness with each songs such as I Turned Into A Martian, Vampira, Mommy Can I Go Out and Kill Tonight, Skulls and Astro zombies each song is delightfully over the top with the horror silliness and I love every ... read more
The first misfits album to be made but not the first one to be released and recorded in the studio in a thirty hour session seems like an album which could be destined for failure by the constraints it was made under however for my money I believe this is the best misfits album ever made
The sound of the album as a whole I think can be summed up in one word and that is relentless, the speed of the album feels like it never waits for you with each song coming in at roughly two minutes long a ... read more
I think this will be the first in a series of reviews i do where I go from Madonna's discography and review and score each album which will I think be an interesting endeavour for me as before listening to this one I had never heard a single Madonna aolbum before except for the big hit singles everyone knows.
I think this debut by Madonna is a perfect start to an artist career as while it doesn't attempt anything too crazy or out there, what it sets out to achieve which in this case I ... read more
I think this and Imaginal Disk are what modern pop albums should aspire to be. This is the only Caroline Polachek album I have heard including Chairlift which I’ve also never listened to but this album is amazing.
If we talk about each individual track on this album it starts off with the instantly catchy and inviting Welcome To My Island before the next two songs Pretty In Possible and Bunny Is A rider which follow on the amazing art pop direction and keep up the amazing consistency of ... read more
Fiona Apple's debut album is an incredibly strong start to her career, I believe that most of this was written in her teenage years but based off the maturity of the album you would never be able to tell this.
First of all I would like to start with the production on this album, Overall this album used a very jazzy and lounge sound to it which is evident from the first track Sleep to Dream which uses these drums which fill up all the space in the air as soon as the first song kicks in ... read more
Going into this I was hoping for something good, I really enjoyed his last album God save the animals I thought that was a great mix of typical singer songwriter music done really well mixed with the more novel and zany structures that Alex G typically employs in his songs. I also really enjoyed his soundtrack work for I Saw The Tv Glow as well as the lead single for this album being a fantastic song I thought with a really enjoyable vocal performance from Alex G himself and an interesting ... read more
After listening to this in full three times over the course of the day, I can safely say that I believe this to be improvement upon Weatherday’s debut in almost every aspect.
Firstly this is very much in the vein of the first album in terms of genre however I would argue this one leans more into the emo direction that the first one presented rather than the noise pop direction the first album also presented. It also varies the genres more than the first one did as while there are the two ... read more
Going into this album I was completely unfamiliar with Weatherday as an artist, the only prior information I had to go off was I knew they were relatively lo fi and a lot of people compare them to early Car Seat Headrest which I quite enjoy both versions of Twin fantasy so I was already hoping to like this album.
The first thing I have to really commend this album on is its ambition. Owning this album on cd, in the notes, Sputnik tells us that this album was recorded on a headset with a hands ... read more
Over the last few days I have given this album a few listens both on my cd player after I found a copy in my local music shop whilst out with my partner and also on my headphones whilst travelling about. Going into this album I was relatively unfamiliar I had given one of his previous albums, Brass, a listen to before, his collaboration with Moor Mother listen when that came out and thought it was a tremendous listen, and I was familiar that he was very critically acclaimed in the underground ... read more
Listened to this once today however I’ve heard it many times over the years. First half of near perfect with some great post punk and rock songs with interestingly twisted lyrics about anything from prostitution to global politics framed through the really unique and unsettling point of view that Richey Edward’s had at this time. Furthermore every song on the first half of this album has this aggression and restless to it that really fits with the overall lyrics of the album.

After four listens this album, Pusha T and Malice absolutely kill it in this, great line after great line with double meaning which you have to give repeated listens to pick up on some of them and give even more repeated to pick up on more, Pusha t and Malice have given this album so many layers you can keep going back to understand more and more.
Great variety of lyrical themes on this too with songs like the opening track being a very emotional affair whilst others are what you would expect ... read more
Going into this album with little experience in black metal music as a whole and also only ever hearing sunbather once or twice before a long time ago meant that I was not sure how my listening experience would go whether I would enjoy it or not but I am pleased to say I enjoyed it quite a bit. The first thing of note is the beautiful and haunting instrumentation on display on the album which feels a lot more emotive than I was expecting from a metal album, I was completely mesmerised ... read more
Such an incredible listening experience, each song uses varied instrumentation and jazzy performances to build into these terrifying and energetic performances that leave you completely stunned in blissful awe of the fantastic performances for every single songs. The drumming on a lot of these songs comes across as manic which really adds to the performances as well. Geordie Greep feels like a street preacher manically chanting words over these songs which adds to the overall fever dream effect ... read more
First time ever listening to run the jewels and after giving this album a few Spins I’ve got to say this album is a really strong start for the duo. The first thing what becomes apparent is just how good El-P’s production is on the whole thing, the beats on this album have an immediate punch on them from the first song which thankfully sticks around for the entire album with songs with some of the best beats iv’e ever heard on songs like Banana Clippers, sea legs, Run The ... read more
