Wasn’t expecting to like it very much cause I had heard the first half a few times, and I just couldn’t finish it. It wasn’t bad or anything but it didn’t interest me at the time and I didn’t think I was in the mood for an indietronica shoegaze record. Listening to the whole record though is a different story. The second half of this record is amazing. I was underestimating it. But I will say, some tracks sound a little repetitive. There are points in this record ... read more
Around 3 of the songs on this record make my top 5 favorite LCD Soundsystem songs. I really love this thing, but a few moments are gonna have to keep this thing from a higher score, such as the length of North American Scum, the dull moments on Us V Them, and almost Sound Of Silver as a whole. For a normal record this would make the score way lower but the highs on this thing are classics.
This is for people who like The Strokes but also hate everything
Compared to fishmonger, its pretty hit or miss. At least it has the best song they have ever dropped (Locals)
This review might sound like a lot of nonsensical rambling, but I feel the need to put some of my thoughts somewhere, so here goes:
When I was just getting into music in general, Kid Cudi was one of the artists to really stick with me. I liked artists like Kanye West first and listened to more of his stuff for sure but I had always thought that this album had proved that Kid Cudi had more talent than Kanye. I was a pretty big Cudi fan. I used to talk in online group chats on the daily and I ... read more
Relistened cause my original score didn't sit right with me and i'll just say that I am a little stupid
Now, this probably comes as a hot take because this is #3 in his discography now, but it’s still pretty great. It’s definitely his most forward thinking project, closely followed by Utopia. The issue with this album compared to his other records is I just have more fun with them. Sure the highlights on this thing are INSANE (3500, Nightcrawler, Antidote), but it’s a little scattered, with random cuts like Pray 4 Love and Maria I’m Drunk just don’t really seem to ... read more
as a big Mac Miller fan, this thing isn't good. some songs are excitingly captivating, but most of this kind of meshes together into a half baked mess. Like an absurd amount of this shit is wildly uninteresting. Side note: why is Ty Dolla $ign on every album ever created? I can't be the only person who dislikes this mf, cause his voice is not THAT good. Yeah but anyway, this thing tried something different and failed almost miserably. It grew off me heavy but it will probably retroactively let ... read more
This shit was so grueling to get through. Absolutely no fun was had while listening.
Before I bash this thing, I gotta say that this album cover is an easy 10/10. Now, onto the music.
Most of this review will feel like I’m just comparing this album to Under Pressure, but it’s just too similar at its core not to. If I could compare Under Pressure and The Incredible True Story to a set of two albums it would be Kanye West’s The College Dropout and Late Registration. Under Pressure and The College Dropout feel more creative and thought out than the next (and I ... read more
Despite my previous thoughts of Parannouls music (stemming mainly from their live album), I had a blast listening. This is that Shoegaze revival shit I’ve been looking for, and it’s a shame After The Night put me off of this project for so long.
I hope to god this isn’t the direction twikipedia’s music takes. I really liked chronic and this wasn’t nearly as entertaining or even good compared to it.
lots to be desired, did not feel as fleshed out as twin fantasy.
Though this album is amazing, its biggest issue is being very uninteresting at times. Lot of highlights but even the bombastic tracks can have some strangely dull moments.
This thing is pretty good. Not too short for you to feel like you want more, and not too long for you to think it drags. The instrumentation is beautiful, I am a sucker for jazz rap and this did not disappoint.
3 misses would usually already warrant an 80 or below but every other song here is so good it negates the misses.
