I took a break halfway through to take NyQuil cause I had a terrible headache, and while listening the headache only got worse. This album is the anti-NyQuil.
Towards the end of the tracklist it starts to blend together, but there are some classics here.
Less lines of "I want to be a kid again" and more lines of "guys i talk about this all the time! im so self aware!". Jacks voice is way better here than the last two records, but not the best his voice has ever been. With 12 tracks it felt way longer than it actually is, but at least it's consistent.
Yeah this shit fucks I’m sorry
Edit: though most of these songs are pretty good, they are super one dimensional. Pretty much every song is about how his life is fucked and his friends betrayed him and blah blah blah whatever.
Now I’m around halfway through, but I don’t think my rating is gonna change. The rapping is there, and so is the energy, but their producer sold them SO HARDπ. Mic quality is ass and some of the beats sound like they paid somebody 25 dollars to make a beat for them on fiverr. One or two “good” tracks though. It’s whatever.
This (at least so far) has aged way better than TA13OO, where the weaker tracks still slap, and far less cringeworthy bars. Some of Denzel’s best work is on this record, don’t sleep on it.
Do I like it very much? Not really. Majority of the songs don't have enough time to be fleshed out, and a little under half of the tracks don't even interest me all that much. However, I do think BROCKHAMPTON should have ended here. Feels more fitting to have the leader of the group make an album about said group, even if it isn't done well. Would've taken this as the last album over TM for sure. Enjoyable enough. Love some of the beats here, and the outro is one of their best songs.
was feeling hella nostalgic today, so I figured I could revisit this gem. Has it aged well? for the most part, yeah.
Favorite Tracks: TABOO l TA13OO, SIRENS l Z1RENZ
Favorite Act: II
Though a few dull moments, this project fairly earns its (pretty light) 7/10 score, through some soulful production and solid rapping performances.
Pretty dope ep that gives me the feeling with enough time he could make a classic. I see lots of potential
THERE IS SO MUCH TO LOVE HERE. plan on relistening during Christmas but until then, this is top 5 of the year.
At times, I haven't had more fun with a BROCKHAMPTON record, but it has its emotional moments to make it feel like more than a simply energetic album, with its melodic and reverb soaked moments.
Insanely great record, however it did grow off of me a little since my last listen, mainly because I overplayed most of the tracks and I hadn’t heard Radioheads other work. Still very very good.
