Decided to use an album nobody really cares about for this. Soon, I will stop using this account. I think my overall ratings are inaccurate to just give a round up of a score, rather than rating each track and averaging out the score. Its been eating at me for a while now, but I believe this is the right decision. The most albums with the same score, the more albums I unintentionally compare to one another, and I'm sick of it. I will be creating another AOTY account soon, where I will have to ... read more

BROCKHAMPTON - SATURATION

Glad I'm out of this phase.

Lil Yachty - Let's Start Here.

At its worst, it’s some dull background music. At its best it’s some pretty enjoyable Psychedelic Rock. I do think this album is slightly overrated because of the fact it’s coming from Lil Yachty and nobody expected this when it dropped. It grew off of me but I still had a good time.

Even though it’s a big step for Yachty it doesn’t feel as ambitious as people give it credit for. It’s still overall feels one dimensional.

Tyler, The Creator - Flower Boy

I've never had more fun while listening to a rap album. This whole album works perfectly together as a summer vibe. Almost every song here is a valid pick for the best song on the record. Sure there are a few points that I'd rather rush past to get back to the bangers but it doesn't matter. I have a great time. This album means a big deal to me because it's one of the rap albums to really get me into music. Probably this, Graduation by Kanye West, and Man On The Moon by Kid Cudi. It's just one ... read more

Frank Ocean - channel ORANGE

Some of his worst, and some of his best. Some very great highlights but there are some forgettable tracks here. This is a super hot take but Pyramids is sorta a drag to get through. It has some amazing moments, but I wanted to move on by the six minute mark. Also Fertilizer is the best musical interlude ever and if you disagree you're wrong.

Neutral Milk Hotel - In the Aeroplane Over the Sea

It starts out amazing, almost a classic, but as the album goes on the songs slowly get worse and worse. The beginning is just too high of an expectation for the rest of the tracklist to compete with. Still had a good time though.

Quadeca - Work in Progress

It's sorta funny how shit it sounds mic quality wise, and the rapping is pretty bad, but it's not the worst thing I've heard. For a 14 year old, he sounds like he cares. It's a record I won't compare to anything else because it's a 14 year old's debut, and it wouldn't make sense to compare albums to it.

twenty one pilots - Scaled and Icy

So bland and unoffensive it makes my ears bleed

JPEGMAFIA - Veteran

Super strong beginning, super strong ending. The middle of this album would probably be agonizing to get through if the duds were any longer, but they were usually so short it just felt like a little speed bump in the album. For a long time I didn’t really get this record, and that’s sorta why I took so long to rate it. But after listening to Black Ben Carson and The Ghost~Pop Tape, it feels like it makes more sense. It’s dope, but far from his best in terms of consistency.

Tyler, The Creator - IGOR

I just don't think it sticks the landing. I don't care that much for the overall theme, and there are (in my opinion) some pretty stale moments on this record. Some of the songs sound underproduced in my eyes, and I'm not against minimalist production but I just don't think some of these tracks work. Like let’s compare RUNNING OUT OF TIME to I THINK. RUNNING OUT OF TIME is actually one of the songs I’ve always really liked on this record, and for good reason. I think the production ... read more

JAY-Z - The Blueprint 3

Had no clue what to listen to, so I decided to revisit what I used to think was the best JAY-Z album. I’m not sure why I picked this one as my favorite over almost any other JAY-Z album, but I was a strange kid. Overall, it’s a fun album. There is some crazy mid here, but the highlights are so enjoyable I almost forget about the duds. (Most of) The features are great, especially Rihanna, J. Cole, and Kid Cudi. They really gave it their all on their respective tracks. Is this album ... read more

Yung Lean - Stardust

Pretty solid project, I don't think I'll listen to it much as a whole but there are definitely some tracks Ill take away from this thing.

glass beach - plastic death

I have been rambling on and on and ON about this album on this review box for the past five minutes so I want to keep this brief. A lot of these songs fucking suck. They try too hard to be this new concept, ambitious new artistic evolution for the band, but the only thing I hear is music devoid of life. The vocals (mostly) suck. The instrumentation would be bearable if I didn't feel like every song was a repeat from the last. I think coelcanth is one of the two tracks I liked on this record ... read more

Mumm-Ra - These Things Move in Threes

Ever watched a movie and heard a song so good you had to listen to the album it was from? A few days ago I rewatched 500 Days of Summer and one of the songs on this record (She's Got You High), was in the movie. Decided to listen to the album and it's pretty great! I had so much fun listening. It's not anything groundbreaking, but I still love it.

Quadeca - SCRAPYARD
90

This thing is near perfect. It's an amazing display of Quadeca's growth as an artist, and how he has only gotten better since the beginning of this artistic evolution in 2021 following From Me To You. Every song here (with the exception of WHAT'S IT TO HIM?) is catchy and replayable as hell. I loved IDMTHY (I mean, its one of my tens so of course I did), but I don't find myself coming back to it much because I feel like it's an record best experienced in the album format; front to back. The ... read more

Of Monsters and Men - My Head Is an Animal
60

Though unable to captivate me for the entire runtime of the album, it has charm. It's not bad by any means, and there are great moments on this record. Besides the standouts (Little Talks & Mountain Sound) though, I feel like Of Monsters and Men really only make the same 2-3 tracks. Everything here is too similar. Maybe this isn't true, and their other records prove it, but there isn't much for me to take away from this thing.

IDLES - Joy as an Act of Resistance.

He’s so angry dude I fucking hate British peopleπŸ˜πŸ™

Logic - Under Pressure

SCORE:
95->85

I relistened and it’s still pretty great. Only problems are Nikki being dogshit and Growing Pains being a snooze fest. Everything else is amazing.

Quadeca - I Didn't Mean to Haunt You
100

Low 9, some factors keeping it from being a ten. One reason being i overplayed this album for myself when it dropped. Another reason being I’m not a crazy fan of some of the moments in some of the songs, like the Sunday service choirs part on “Fractions of Infinity” is a little too long, and I’m not a crazy big fan of Danny Brown in general anymore. Can’t wait for the next album

EDIT:
90->100

Who the fuck was I kidding bro 😭 this shit is so peak

Far From Away - Little Bits of Muddy Pits
75

It’s pretty great, just wanted more from it. I know it’s an EP but I came out of this thing wanting it to be even 5-10 minutes longer. Probably gonna check out their album soon to solve this problem though.
