JPEGMAFIA - Veteran

Veteran has a special place in my heart as it helped me get into the experimental side of music in general. It's probably what moulded a significant amount of my music taste, and it's up to you to decide if that's either a good or a bad thing. Even though I put this album on such a high pedestal, the score isn't as high as the other experimental hip-hop releases that I reviewed. Why's that? I think the best way to summarise my feeling towards this album is that I don't think it's the best ... read more
Danny Brown - Atrocity Exhibition
94
Danny Brown and JPEGMAFIA are releasing their collaborative album soon. Very exciting, very hype, all of us music nerds are jumping from excitement, getting out of our chairs for the first time in ages! So because of that, I wanted to look back on and talk about my favourite albums from both of them.

Starting out with Danny Brown's masterpiece, Atrocity Exhibition is a wild and experimental ride through Danny's mind with many twists and turns, which is both thrilling and unsettling. ... read more

Kids See Ghosts - KIDS SEE GHOSTS

The unpredictable yet at the time great friendship between Kanye West and Kid Cudi shines through on this album, it's hard to ignore or deny it. They weren't afraid to give it their all on this project, and while they didn't give us much time to display that, they certainly didn't waste any of it, giving us no space to breathe. I think all of the songs add something to this album, which is partly also what I think makes this album feel so complete to me.

The sounds represented here are very ... read more

Tyler, The Creator - IGOR
96
Tyler escapes from the sound that made him rise to fame, and surprises everyone with his switch from a darker to a more upbeat sound and atmosphere. Exceeding the already brilliant production from his last album which let him shift his sound into anything he wanted to, Tyler decided to create an R&B album which displays him falling in love, making the album more accessible and relatable to the public.

Tyler gives us more of his typically beautiful synths throughout the album which is ... read more

Injury Reserve - By the Time I Get to Phoenix

How did I just discover this now. Can you even call this hip hop? The only way I can describe this is as a bunch of sounds put together that manage to classify as music. It's almost as if a huge portion of the album has been lost, and the remaining sounds from each song have been spread throughout the remaining songs randomly. On paper, it looks like a dreadful idea, however, this album has proven otherwise.

I'm in love with almost the entirety of this unique album. I don't know how to ... read more

Hi there! I'm Concrete— a user of this site, who also makes music. I just released an ambient album, called the Densest Fog, consisting of looping pianos. If that sounds like something that interests you, please take some time out of your day to check it out. Feel free to be as honest as you want. If you don't want any messages like this again, please let me know. Thanks so much!

It's out on bandcamp and all streaming platforms!

About

I pretty much only rate albums that, in my opinion, are good since I don't want to listen to ones which are known to be bad I'm going to be honest (unless they're laughably bad). I also might occasionally write some amateurish reviews if I want to or if I have some spare time!

All the albums I have on vinyl are in my library

(I purged my ratings because I disagreed with pretty much all of them)
