Wasn't looking forward to this album, but what's coming after this is going to be rewarding.. atleast I hope so.
Death Grips is one of those groups that don't really have the same vibe of their music if the lead singer isn't on the song, and so we have a full album of that right here, and to be fair, it's not good.
I was never really a huge fan of Death Grips' instrumentals, while I did like most of them, the ones here just aren't very pleasant to listen to. ... read more
Ironic title, because MC Ride is the only black member of the group.
Have to say I'm quite excited for this era of Death Grips. The couple of albums they've dropped during the previous years haven't been very good, but it looks like they've made a lot of great pieces past that timeline.
A great starter. This is the Death Grips I like, and I have to say, it does sound a bit like The Money Store, but it's a bit more generic and has a few filler tracks. Not in a bad way, ... read more
Another Death Grips album which loses its shine during the second half.
While it wasn't neccessarily bad, it was most definitely their worst project at the time it was made. It's more aggressive, more noisy, but I wouldn't say it's more questionable than their previous album, mainly because of the cover, but musically, it's definitely the most weird and eerie record of theirs (at the time, i know there's worse).
There was a great start to it, no lie, but later on, ... read more
Edit: Relistened, will rewrite the review at some point
This is probably the most bizarre and weird album I've ever listened to, but strangely, it's also quite enjoyable. Even though this surrounded them with a lot of controversy, it also racked up some popularity for them, so I guess the penis on the album cover was a win at the end of the day.
Besides from the questionable album cover, the music is also pretty crazy. They took a more aggressive and chaotic approach here, and while ... read more
Forgot they made an EP before their debut mixtape so I thought I might aswell listen to it.
Yeah, it's a short little project with some fun songs and possibly a few songs they excluded from Exmilitary, but eitherway, they were all equally enjoyable, but the last two were the biggest standouts.
To be fair, I don't know what else I can say about this.
Fav. Track - Takyon (Death Yon)
Least Fav. Track - Full Moon (Death Classic)
To be fair, I got what I expected.
This is probably the most average album I've ever listened to. Most of this is just for the sake of a fun listen, not sad and dramatic lyrical stuff, and yeah, it was a pretty exciting experience overall.
The production is pretty well done, yeah, I believe some of these songs could land amongst his most popular in a few months, but for me, none of the songs really blew me away or anything.
While Baby Keem does try to be more lyrical than he usually is, he ... read more
Next discography: Death Grips.
For the first listen, I expected a way worse outcome, but they didn't let me down this time. Exmilitary, for example, didn't satisfy me enough for me to head to their discography right away, but my love for Experimental Hip Hop has recently been growing bigger, and I thought I would listen to this album to test if I can enjoy this stuff from the first listen. I'm glad I managed. Hopefully this doesn't mean I'm slowly becoming a ... read more
Relisten.
When I first listened to this album, I didn't like it. Well, not strictly, not like I hated it, but I just saw it as overrated. I've had some experience with Experimental Hip Hop albums in the past, so I didn't expect any good at first, and to be fair, that's what I got from my first listen.
So I've been listening to the GTA V radio recently, and I came upon one of Danny Brown's songs on iFruit Radio, which is also the radio he's the host of in the ... read more
Unlike many of the albums being released right now, this one was actually worth the wait.
I've never heard a J. Cole album before, so I don't know how to feel about it. Eitherway, this is a good starting point for me, even though this came out just now.
My pre-listen thoughts for this album probably would have been neutral if it wasn't for The Fall-Off Is Inevitable, which was released as a single titled "Disc 2 Track 2". That song was really good, and probably the best ... read more
I just wish I understood what they were saying.
To be truly honest, I have no idea why I listened to this. I was just scrolling through the best Hip Hop albums on the website, and then I saw this. Without really thinking, I just decided to listen to it.
But damn, my expectations were blown away. I expected yet another boring Latin album which wouldn't interest me at all because the main focus is the lyrics, but no, this actually has a lot of very decent beats and I could see myself ... read more
After listening to A$AP Rocky's debut mixtape, my expectations for this album took a step up, but we need to learn to accept this is Rocky 14 years after his (probably) best project. He was 23 at the time, now he's 37, I think that's enough to settle the argument on why you shouldn't expect the same quality projects from artists a decade and a few years after their breakthrough. His style has changed up over the years, there are a few experimental songs on here, nobody ... read more
Wasn't really ever going to listen to this, but my sister (D1 Madison glazer) pressured me into listening to it, so here we are I guess.
Unfortunately, I didn't really feel any redeeming qualities on here apart from maybe one or two songs, which were already released as singles beforehand.
Madison's songwriting sadly has nothing special to it, which, I know she is only trying to reach commercial success and not approval from music nerds, but eitherway, it doesn't surprise me ... read more
Purple Swag - 80

Since all of the hype for A$AP Rocky's new album has been getting to me, I thought I would listen to atleast one of his earlier projects because I've never heard any of his music before.
Yeah, I understand why people like his music so much. One of the heads of cloud rap, one of the kickstarters for the subgenre, and just one of the most popular Hip Hop artists of the 2010s. Of course, he's still relevant, but his popularity has slightly dropped ... read more
I decided to rewrite my review for To Pimp A Butterfly because my opinion about it has changed a lot since the last time I listened to it and I'm kind of getting more attached to this album now.
First time I listened to it, I have never considered this album to be the best of all time like a lot of people say it is, because I simply saw it as "overrated", but now that I managed to understand the overall message of this project, I can say it's probably one of the best pieces ... read more
Thanks to @Mfbaster for the recommendation!
I was waiting for something that would out-do your first single, which was my personal favourite, and I think this is it. Both of them are great in their own way, but I think this one was a bit more loaded and just sounds more chill. I love both of them eitherway.
The J Dilla inspiration is really clear in this song, I think taking inspiration from other producers is a very smart move even if it isn't very original. But it doesn't matter if ... read more
Thanks to @Mfbaster for the recommendation!
Out of the three singles you've released, this is the weakest one in my opinion. Nonetheless, it's still good, but I believe it was a bit quiet, if you get what I mean, but the instrumental still sounds nice.
I'm really excited for the release of the EP and hopefully atleast one of the upcoming singles will be even better than your first song, which is my personal favourite.
So yeah, thanks for keeping me updated on the releases, and ... read more
Thank you, @OlDirtyOmer and @Mfbaster for the recommendation!
Since I really enjoyed the first single, I didn't have any low expectations for this song too. Obviously, it wasn't miles worse, but I believe it's a bit weaker than the previous song. Not in a bad way, obviously it's still a really good beat, you can clearly hear the inspiration from Nujabes.
This cover creeped me a out a bit, but it still looks pretty cool, so big up for that one.
Not any more comments I can ... read more
Thank you for the recommendation, @Brey!
I don't mind the song at all, I think it's pretty chill and all, but what the actual fuck is that cover. Don't take my soul please, I listened to your single alright
Maybe it's a bit lengthy, but when it comes to electronic music I don't mind it being too long. The cowbells nearing the end were a bit unnecessary, but I guess it's a bit experimental too. So yeah, nice single, but I found it a bit boring, maybe making it a bit ... read more
Thank you for the recommendation, @Playa222!
Like.. I appreciate trying to get me into this artist, but music like this just isn't for me. This dude is underground for a reason I fear.
On one end, we got bro sounding like a clanker, which sounds anything but good. Maybe it does get progressively better, but it's really slow and the best song on here still isn't very good.
His performance is kind of boring, he doesn't really have any redeeming qualities in his rapping, and ... read more
