Awesome album from Freddie Gibbs he steps away from his typical coke rap focus and transitions more towards a new casino mafia sound. He tackles this very well. The production is strong at points but doesn’t hold through every song. The back half of the album is perfect the beginning is a little slow.
A good project from Kenny however he slightly turned away from his unique style and sound and felt very much like a Baby Keem and Carti clone from track to track throughout. With that being said it is still a solid outing just a little disappointing from an up and coming artist.
Although this project has good performances and production throughout every song is super over bloated with not only all of A$AP mob but also a ton of outside features that leaves no person enough time or space to shine. This album is better on paper than in execution.
Some of the greatest writing I have heard through an album, every bar is rich with meaning and plays into the bigger themes. The production is above average as well.
One of the greatest mixtapes I have ever heard, the production is incredible and Rocky has good writing and amazing performances all over this project. He blends southern hip hop perfectly with New York charisma so well. I think this is the best cloud rap project of all time.
This album has grown on me with every listen since its initial drop, however I still feel like there is a large amount of repetitive and too out there cuts. 24 songs is too long to listen to Carti/Hyperpop rage music. Like I said earlier I was a big hater when it first dropped but I have slowly came around to about 10-12 songs off this project.
I think this is logics best project one of the few in his catalogue that doesn't have very many skips, This project has some incredible highs like the nine minute epic "Under Pressure" or the amazing heart felt "Soul Food" he doesn't use his fast flow that I don't like too much and his writing is good throughout.
Amazing 3 track run to start the album they all have aggressive performances from Grizzley however after that the album takes a 360 into more melodic cuts and I don't think Tee Grizzley shines in that lane. The crooning is bad and his singing isn't great either. There is about 4 good tracks I take away from this.
Definitely a very solid pop EP, has a unique blend of many different genres and sounds. The opening track 911 is amazing and gave me such high hopes but the rest of the songs don't really hold up for me. Overall still a good project.
Ghais is starting to find a sound more unique to him as all his earlier work sounds like a JPEGMAFIA clone this feels super unique to Ghais. There is definitely a few kinks I would like him to figure out but this is a good album and building block to a young career.
Obviously not the best album from Talib Kweli however his writing and delivery are as good as ever. He shows that he still can hang and rap his ass off. The features perform well too. The production can be lack luster at times but still a very good project with a handful of amazing throwback jazzy boom bap lyrical songs.
One of Mac's most abstract and unique projects, it shows his versatility perfectly as you get heart felt singing performances, true lyrical rapping performances and experimental off the wall inflections. Another amazing Mac Miller project.
A good tape from an artist I have never heard of before he does a good job showing off versatility. He does reuse a lot of bars and flows that I have heard from other artists wich isn't a terrible thing but he does feel sort of like a follower on a good amount of these tracks. It is a very easy on the ears listen and doesn't try and do too much which I respect.
A couple of amazing high energy and off the walls songs however there is a lot of very average songs in the middle of the project and this project just leaves me hoping that Ski can one day reach the potential he can show.
A ton of filler and very few tracks that stuck with me, and the ones that did are still riddled with odd performances and wack bars. I'm not a big Youngboy fan and I don't see the appeal either.
One of Marciano's weaker projects, the album starts off strong but slowly regresses. It feels like he didn't try as hard on the back half of the album. The Alchemist shines as he usually does on Collab tapes.
Swamp Bitches with Rico and Persuasive with SZA are both phenomenal bookends to the EP however there is nothing wrong with the middle 3 tracks it just doesn't hit with the same passion as the other 2. Still a great project and no outright bad cuts.
