Red Vox - Another Light
86

Another Light is a seamless journey of self doubt, uncertainty in life, heart break, and healing. The lyrics are consistently smart, intimate and self aware. Even the least popular album cuts have absolutely banger instrumental breaks.
The self-titled track Another Light is such a catchy and positive introduction. Settle for Less is clever, sad, and an absolute banger. The extradimensional Memories Lie starts to show Red Vox warping rock to their hands. Memento Mori is beautifully detailed ... read more

Mydreamfever - Rough and Beautiful Place
71

Although I do find the album to be predictable at moments and some of the orchestration doesn't feel as pristine or interesting as I would have initially hoped for, what we get is a beautiful journey of atmospheres and soundscapes. The hopeful and intimate nature of the sound within this album being released at the beginning of 2022 gives me a great happiness knowing how much pain Parannoul expressed in their previous albums last year. Either it be the soundscapes within the project, or the ... read more

파란노을 [Parannoul] - To See the Next Part of the Dream
87

Breathtaking shoegaze epic. Focusing on the average working person, feeling like nothing they can do matters in the large scope of things, fleeing to his dreams for an escape but continuously dealing with the hard choices reality shoves in his already unmotivated lifestyle. It's an emotionally potent, powerful album. The emotional release of someone screaming out into the void finding meaning in their life.

Earl Sweatshirt - solace

Beautiful, dark, intimate.

Earl Sweatshirt - Doris
77

This is the first Earl Sweatshirt album I've listened to. I love travelling back in time to the early wolf gang era, a lot of these songs are absolute fire. Imo it's quite messy and some tracks don't hit as hard as I would wish them to.

Fire-Toolz - Eternal Home
83

Mind bending, epic, digital landscape of incredible ideas. Difficult to explain and fully wrap my head around the entire concept but it's an achievement which should be experienced if you're interested.

Disk Review:
Disc 1 - 8.6
Electric and exciting. I'm fully encapsulated in Fire-Toolz strange digital city of lights, distortion, media, and whatever the fuck is lurking around each corner. I feel like each song I'm walking into a new district within this Eternal Home. Within the mess of ... read more

Dean Blunt - BLACK METAL 2
69

I thought I was gonna listen to some black metal but instead I listened to almost the opposite. This is a very subtle and short record with an air of death, violence, and love creeping into the back of your mind.

VIGIL - 7.5
Powerful lyrics and a great instrumental backing which keeps the tension low but present. The production is self aware and I love that.

MUGU - 7.0
Acoustic is great. These low key tracks with the laid back vocals are very pleasing to the ears. The lyrics carries the ... read more

Jane Remover - Frailty
82

This project is grand in scope, incredible digital landscape realized through distorted and experimental production. The album is thematically consistent although a little cheesy imo. That however doesn't stop me from saying that "kodak moment" is one of the most powerful and mind blowing songs this year.

Radiohead - In Rainbows
100

OK! This is a very colorful and exciting album with phenomenal pacing, narrative storytelling, and innovative production. There is so much meaning carved into nearly every single line on this project which lead to me taking two hours to reach the final track since I kept replaying songs and ripping apart the lyrics and sections of songs to get a good idea of what Radiohead was conveying to me. Above that however is an extremely solid line up of bangers and catchy tunes as well as heart crushers ... read more

Radiohead - Amnesiac

There are a pick of incredible ideas scattered across this disorganized track list. It doesn't make for the best album experience but it's an experience I am super glad I went on.

Radiohead - Kid A
99

Extremely consistent, interesting, and awe inspiring. Watching this artist character become more human over time, always having these complex emotions using very limited vocabulary to describe them and slowly becoming less vague, is extremely engaging and mindboggling. The production is phenomenal, easily sending me into their weird digital wasteland whenever they please.

Heaven's Emperor - Teenage Poetry
77

I listen to a lot of sad albums because they give me comfort and show the light in the dark in bad parts of my life. Teenage Poetry is the opposite of that exact concept, you will feel at your lowest listening to this, you will feel pain, you will be face to face with the terrifying monster which is depression and death.

This is one of the hardest albums I've had to listen to. This is depression and suffering in it's rawest form. I watched the original music video which came with this album ... read more
