one of the best soundtracks of all time. This thing helped make Undertale what it is
At its best its offensively bland pop with production that feels 'clean' I guess; it sounds like what it's trying to sound like I suppose. At its worst this album is disgusting. The baby child thing is gross and horrid. It's this weird infantilizing attempt to make a caricature of legitimate trauma that people have. It turns Lolita into an aesthetic, and one that is integrally linked to actually cute things. The whole exploitative nature of Melanie's whole persona fits in real well knowing now ... read more
legitimately a really great debut project. Greg has a super unique voice, energy, and passion that you don't often see in this area of underground rap. His beats also have a unique vibe to them, the whole weather/earth vibe feels like it runs through the whole sound of his music. A seriously unique and creative voice in very underground music. Hope he expands on that creativity and tries to push boundaries on future projects
On the production end this album Goes Hard. The entire thing sounds so crunchy, textured, and pounding!! The more clear additions of pop/hyperpop styles is a great and fitting addition to LSP's sound. On the lyrical side it's solid but maybe needs some work. When not doing one of the classic LSP driving, aggressive flows the lyrical additions can be a touch awkward. It feels a little all or nothing on how much LSP rides with the beat. The rapping is either loud punchy flows on the beat or quiet ... read more
Some of the filthiest, sluttiest, crunchiest, catchiest, most heart pumping industrial electronic hip hop packed into 5 amazing tracks
some really solid lyricism, definitely kendrick still in development. alright beats
this thing is very solid. The rapping is absolutely there. The beats are solid and when they hit they hit hard
The laid back vibes just do not do it for me. And Cole has a habit of dropping wack bars as soon as he starts to win you over
nothing to impress in terms of beats or rhymes. Just decent both ways
The cool concept doesn't stop the typical trap for alternative hip hop of just being way too sleepy. And the concept is only really committed to on the first track where on the rest it's more like light flavoring. I still mess with is Percy Jackson style tho
lol yeah this thing kinda sucks, pop punk at its least distinguishable
I wish I liked it more but the only moments that seem to deliver on the explosive sound palette are Freak Mode, Sodom & Gomorrah, and Touch Grass. The rest feels sort of by the numbers despite the energy
the overall sleepy electronic pop vibe on this thing just does not appeal to or impress me much
some fun funky goofy bits but overall not much really making it stand out
some more organic instrumentation then most other soft dreamy pop. But still nothing super impressive
clippings more dedicated concept and story album, and once again they deliver.
Edit: (88 -> 92): Every time I come back to this album it's more genius. clipping. just doesn't know how to not be intensely creative and their execution is almost never lacking. This is a must listen for hip hop fans and one of the greatest, most committed, and well executed concept albums ever.
the consistency is impressive given the length. Still despite the very pretty jazz beats it the album is bloated and Blu's style of lyricism does wear thin for me by the end. Wish there was more moments like Troubled Water to diversify the track list
