What can I say about this album? It's one that needs to be felt, experienced. Pink Maggit by itself might be one of the most powerful closer tracks of an album, it genuinely left me sitting in the dark for a few minutes just processing what I'd heard. It's incredible how casually this band dropped something this close to perfect. Dark, emotional, intense, raw, real, captivating , fucking Deftones, man. I think every alt kid should listen to this album at some point purely for the ... read more
Punching, unhinged, and relentless throughout, even if at some point the songs start bleeding into each other, that's mostly just the nature of the style and an acquired taste thing. There's still some iconic stuff going on here, and the whole thing makes me feel dirty in the best possible way.
Favorite track: Around the Fur
This album is fucking vicious! Killer riffs, unhinged screams from Chino, just a bunch of bangers front to back. It's clearly a collection of unrelated songs thrown together, so consistency and diversity take a hit, and some tracks aren't particularly worth noting, but as a debut, they kicked the door down with as much energy as possible.
Favorite track: 7 Words
Background music. Good background music at least, but there’s not much to talk about here. It doesn’t explore enough in terms of soundscapes to really work as a strong ambient record, and it also doesn’t experiment enough to be interesting beyond just 'nice music to listen to while doing something else.' It’s serviceable, and a kinda poetic farewell for the band, so I can’t complain much, but it’s far from being remarkable.

Wait a moment, a late-career Pink Floyd record that's actually great? The Division Bell is easily the best thing the band has put out since The Wall, as it's tasteful, well-written, and never overdoes itself. It might not be as remarkable or groundbreaking as their earlier work, but it works wonders and is exactly what Gilmour and co. should be doing at this stage in their career.
Favorite track: Keep Talking
I kind of feel nothing about this album. Is just unremarkable, and at this point, it's clear that Pink Floyd is running on life support. Boring as hell, the glory days are over, now what remains is just a shell of the band's former self.
Favorite track: Learning to Fly
The second half keeps this from being the most boring thing in existence, but it still leaves a lot to be desired. The usual Pink Floyd magic is almost nowhere to be seen, it's drowsy for stretches, and for the love of God, I can't stand Roger's broken yelling anymore, however beautiful the arrangements around it may be. Not all that bad, but it makes me worried about what comes next.
Favorite track: Not Now John
The Wall is more of a movie than an album, all choppy and irregular, but somehow it works in its own weird way. It's extremely theatrical, full of interludes and the occasional bangers, this is THE concept album of all concept albums. I could complain about the low replay value of individual tracks, but that feels disingenuous since it clearly isn't the point, but I feel the ending stretches a little too much and the fascist segment is kind of whatever musically; but hey, it's ... read more
Animals is the epitome of the infamous "we live in a society" *ten minute guitar solo* stereotype, but I don't have the slightest problem with that, since it does it as well as it can be done. Maybe three 10+ minutes songs back to back might be a little much, and Pigs on the Wing feels kinda out of place, but it doesn't actually detract from how great this album is.
Favorite track: Pigs (Three Different Ones)
Few works of art manage to convey a human experience such as longing as well as Wish You Were Here. It's exceptionably crafted in all fronts, from the compositions to the lyrics to the atmosphere, it's flawless. Shine On You Crazy Diamond is, in my opinion, the quintessential Pink Floyd song, encompassing all of the best traits from the band's craft, the title track is an emotion-filled homage to their former band partner and friend Syd Barrett, and the two remaining tracks are ... read more
As a former Dark Side of the Moon hater, even I had to give in at some point and admit this shit slaps. It's not perfect though, especially the beginning; Breathe is great, but Speak to Me and On the Run feel like a bit of meandering. Other than that, it keeps its balance wonderfully, taking you on a journey of emotions and musicality like few other records can. Simply put, it's phenomenal.
Favorite track: Us and Them
That was… underwhelming? I may have conditioned myself to expect psychedelic masterpieces from the band, but this one had me dozing off, and not in the best of ways. A couple of tracks got to me, but overall it's pretty forgettable. At least it's a vibe, and if nobody told me, I'd never have guessed it was a soundtrack album.
Favorite track: Obscured by Clouds
Pink Floyd have got a habit of building an album around one massive centerpiece while the rest coasts along, but it works well enough here. The first two tracks are great, and while Echoes is undeniably an impressive masterpiece, I'm not sure it's quite as untouchable as people make it out to be. Either way, the band has clearly found their sweet spot, with the characteristically psychedelic songwriting fires on all cylinders, and the whole thing holds together nicely. Heavily carried by the title track, this feels like the first time the band shows what they're truly capable of and what they would go on to craft in future records. It's a nice, consistent listen that, despite the long tracks, doesn't overstay its welcome, and is just a good time overall, even if the closing track feels like a stray excerpt from Ummagumma.
Favorite track: Atom Heart Mother
Well, that was a mess. And undeniably pretentious. The autoplay putting on Comfortably Numb the moment it ended only cemented what I was feeling throughout; you could even say I grew comfortably numb to the relentless what-the-fuckery of it all. The live section doesn't feel fair to weigh heavily in the rating, and I won't be coming back regardless. Grantchester Meadows is a nice doze-off song, and Several Species got a chuckle out of me for the sheer bizarreness of it.

Seeing so many bad reviews may have lowered my expectations, but I genuinely enjoyed the instrumental pieces here and the characteristically atmospheric, lowkey music the band crafts throughout. For a soundtrack, it's incredibly cohesive, as the vision holds together as a whole without detracting from the individual songs, and even if it isn't as mindblowing as other Pink Floyd records, it works very well on its own terms.
Favorite track: Ibiza Bar
Way more cohesive than the band's debut, but still falls into the same problems of it. The experimentation might feel more focused now, but it still leaves a lot of space filled with random stuff, and the tracks that shine in here are the ones that have a more usual structure and writing, funnily enough. Still, it's visible the evolution from the band.
Favorite track: Remember a Day
Gotta admit, I didn't get this record. The psychedelic hallucinations and Syd's whimsical fuckaroundery just feel a bit too much for me, and even if there are some cool moments, it's mostly just aimless experimentation, and I couldn't get myself to vibe with it as much as I wish I would.
Favorite track: Interstellar Overdrive
Not exactly what I was expecting. With this cover art and the breakup album themes, I thought I was in for wall-to-wall melancholy and lowkey production, but what I got was better. It's as honest and vulnerable as thank u, next, but backed up by a lot of bangers and dance-pop jams, and here, Ariana shows she's still got it.
Favorite track: bye
We get it, Ari, you like to fuck. Can we talk about something else now? The instrumentals are sometimes boring, and even with the lush arrangements, it all feels a bit samey. The lack of thematic diversity hurts it; most songs here feel redundant. 34+35, positions, nasty, and pov are the highlights, but there's still not much worth noting. It works fine, but it's a bit disappointing after the potential she showed on thank u, next.
