Allie x is an odd artist for me. I've been listening to her and loving her work since 2017, but will often go months without thinking about her at all. And then whenever I come back for a new project I'm like "oh yeah, she's one of my favorite pop artists, what was I doing??" This was one of my favorite pop albums of 2020 and I think it's easily her best album so far. It's glossy, dark, more refined and focused, but still fun and ridiculously tongue-in-cheek in the way Allie x always ... read more
I'll be blasting this until February. What a soothing and warm way to enter winter. Aoty contender for me, this is one of my favorite bands I've found this year.
Ok maybe it's because I'm currently having a mental health spiral where anything remotely nostalgic/comforting is Good, but holy shit I don't know what I've been doing all these years trying to say Red is one of Taylor's worst albums. I get it now, swifties. You've been right this whole time. This IS her best album (after folklore ofc) my deepest apologies for disrespecting this album (the "weeEEEE" in the chorus of WANEGBT is absolutely excruciating though why did you do that Taylor)
When Yeule's cover of Headache dropped it finally prompted me to check out Grouper, so I actually got 2 favorite musicians out of this
The backstory is the most special/standout thing about this album, but it is just very solid music and very nostalgic-sounding
Hozier is a weird artist for me because if I just think about his music I don't really care much about it. But when I listen to him I'm like wow you're like the greatest musician ever this is nuts. So I have no fucking clue how I actually feel about this album. Besides the bog body song that one is cool as shit I want to be a bog body
I haven't come back to this album as a whole at all since it came out. But something about My Limb, Good Grief, and Inordinary just.... get me in the guts. KYRH is also pretty cool and different for Hayley, and once Just A Lover really gets going it's beautiful. The rest is pretty meh though
I loved this album when it came out but haven't really come back to it since then. Simmer, Why We Ever, and Crystal Clear are amazing, but then you get moments like Over Yet and My Friend which actively aggravate me. But it was cool to see a softer side of Hayley and hear her play around with different styles/influences than she could get away with in Paramore. Also maybe it's just me but the bass on this album is fucking awesome. Sudden Desire is like 3 times better than it would be without ... read more
God bless adventure time for many reasons but specifically for introducing me to Francis Forever
