Their recent output has mostly been just alright, but this single makes the djent kid in me happy
I am not a fan of Motionless in White at all but dammit Chris has been absolutely KILLING IT on features recently.
This song is just one ass beating breakdown after another for nearly 3 minutes. There is one brief breather in the middle but for the rest of the song I wanna run through a wall.
Sharp Teeth is the weakest of the singles so far but it's still exceptional. It leans more towards a melodic sound than the other two which some listeners will appreciate but it lacked the cool John Zorn sax stuff that the other singles had and it doesn't provide the same energy. It still is a very creative, unique, and experimental song however, and I am happy with it. The guitar solo towards the end scratches my brain with it's noisey tone.
This was a sick ass single right here. I disagree with the other reviews saying this is the better of the two singles but Car Bomb are really showing that they still got it here. It's highly technical with a touch of melody, but it still has that nasty ass guitar tone that Car Bomb always manage to pull out.
I feel bad hating on such a legendary band but this single just wasn't for me. I personally think that the best material from this band has more melody and this song was just your normal djent consisting of chugging comedically downtuned guitars for 4 minutes. I am oversimplifying a bit as this still takes much more skill than just chugging the guitar as some of the rhythms here are pretty complex, but they don't stand out from the other djent bands that have also been doing this ... read more
It's pretty neat. Better than most of the bands that have been ripping them off for the past decade but it is also just a pretty standard Deftones song.
This breakdown is groovy as hell and makes me wanna bust a move. If you can get into the vocals this album is gonna be an absolute must hear for hardcore fans
We got a Demon Hunter blegh before GTA 6.
Nah but they've really done a great job with the last couple singles. A lot more inspired feeling through their whole sound. The guitars have had great melodies, vocals have had more power to them, and the drum fills have felt more prominent. Not the same as Demon Hunter 10 years ago, but just as good in a different way. Mixing is still a tad off on this single but it's forgivable.
This is honestly one of the best pure hardcore albums I've ever heard. Terror clearly have a very in depth grasp of the genre and what makes it special. Every switch up had me bobbing my head to it. This album gave me just what I needed in the gym this morning for upper body day.
Highlights: Shattered, You're Caught, Your Enemies Are Mine, The New Blood
Low Points: There are no low points this album is consistent bangers all throughout
I am not crazy! I know he swapped those numbers! I knew it was 1216. One after Magna Carta. As if I could ever make such a mistake. Never. Never! I just - I just couldn't prove it. He - he covered his tracks, he got that idiot at the copy shop to lie for him. You think this is something? You think this is bad? This? This chicanery? He's done worse. That billboard! Are you telling me that a man just happens to fall like that? No! He orchestrated it! Jimmy! He defecated through a ... read more
This was a pretty cool album. The guitars had lots of texture to them and it had some pretty brutal breakdowns. Pretty standard for nu-metalcore but executed better than a lot of bands in that genre.
Highlights: The Shape, Pariah, No End
Low Points: Vidrig Död
It falls off a bit after State of Mind but it was still overall really good. Trust was an absolute masterpiece and the rest of the first half contained some great basslines and hypnotic drum grooves. Overall not as good as Jordan's debut, but I'm glad he's still experimenting and making new things.
Highlights: Trust, Forgive, Flowers
Low Points: Royal, Hopes and Dreams
Honestly I don't think that Fit For A King know the direction that they want to take with their music. The recent songs have honestly felt pretty uninspired compared to their best such as Slave To Nothing or Dark Skies. There are crazy good musicians in this band. Ryan Kirby and Tuck O'leary are both great vocalists and they have the Phinehas guitarist in the band too. This recent song is another generic modern metalcore copying the likes of Silent Planet or Invent Animate, and ... read more
Deadguy and Botch both had new releases today. Think about that for a second. Botch and Deadguy released music in the big 2025.
Near-Death Travel Services is an impressive release from a band that has not dropped for over 20 years now. With this album Deadguy has maintained a consistency expected of peer bands such as Converge that have had ongoing discographies, but the wait makes this one all the more impressive. This release is some pure mathcore straight from the 90s that can be enjoyed ... read more
This is definitely in my lane when it comes to metalcore. It's loud, it's dissonant, it's raw, and it has a touch of melody from some Southern rock style riffs. While it doesn't hold a candle to legends such as Every Time I Die, Norma Jean, or The Chariot, it's very successful in the style it shoots for and is something I'll be coming back to regularly. Vilseledd is an incredibly fun album that I definitely reccommend if what you've read sounds appealing to ... read more
The riff is sick but otherwise it doesn't do much for me. Just some standard Lorna that every deathcore band has been doing the past several years. I don't want to give them too much shit considering they helped shape that sound in the first place but its a little hard when it feels like reaction bait.
