The only bad thing about this album is the shit audio quality on spotify.
How they managed to make a group with nine people work is beyond me. This is an incredible album, and I don't think time will ever change that.
Pretty good, but definitely not as good as McKinley's most recent work. Still some impressive performances and production, but I found the sound just not as enthralling as Magic and Alive. I don't mean to compare albums; this is still great, just not as great as I would've hoped. Run, Run, Run is peak though.
This album is a rollercoaster. It goes from mid to good to great, then to bad, back to mid, and then to bad for the rest of the album. Overall, pretty mid and I only really pull a few good tracks out of it. Definitely not worth the five-year wait.
Basically, a better version of their previous work in almost. every single way. Better production, better rapping, better variation. I say almost because the lyrics are a bit dated, but overall, I don't have a big problem with them. Very good project.
This deluxe was not really needed to be honest. 2 of the 7 tracks are basically interludes, and the others are just blander versions of the best songs on the original. Still good of course, but my life would not change without it.
Pretty good starting album for this duo, but there were bound to be some missteps with this much genre experimentation. I particularly didn't care for the dance music like JUST DANCE 2. But definitely some promising stuff here, and the last song is so sad if you know the story behind group therapy/PO2.
Good album, but only a few standout tracks. I could tell someone my favorite song from this album easily, but I could not pick my least favorite nearly as quickly.
The most overrated album OAT, but just by its glazers. Great highs, pretty mediocre lows, and absolutely insane energy, I'll give it that. Overall, Carti's worst album, but not by much.
65 -> 67
The first three song run is actually amazing. The rest of the album is good, but surprisingly I found myself enjoying Carti's parts a lot more than the features. Gunna, Young Thug, and Nicki Minaj's features were all pretty mid in my opinion. The incredible production is of course the standout, Pi'erre Bourne is a legend fr.
83 - > 84 (all my thoughts are the same)
This album might be a 9 or even 10/10 in writing, but the low-key vibe for the more lyric-heavy songs makes this a harder listen for me than most other Kendrick albums. Not to mention the actual topics Kendrick raps about, which are very personal and uncomfortable.
"This is barely a Kendrick album!" I said to myself, looking at the features on Spotify, before laughing my ass off as Kendrick managed to have a feature on every song. Anyway, it's pretty good but not great compared to Kendrick's other albums.
Honestly, I was expecting better because this was so hyped up, but I had very high expectations. It's a very solid project. Also, I cannot believe untitled 05 isn't at least considered The Heart Part 3.5. Kendrick should've just renamed The Heart Part 4 to Part 5 to confirm it.
Edit: Grew on me a lot, I wouldn't say its that underwhelming now.
Extremely good album, but there are certain production choices that I don't like. The lyrical content and rapping is obviously the best part of the album, I mean, come on it's Kendrick Lamar. Overall, a solid project that may grow on me with future listens, we'll see.
Now Or Never is the weakest song from the entire album in my opinion, but to counteract that, The Recipe is top 5 off the entire album. The remixes are pretty good, and Black Boy Fly is incredibly underrated.
The start was a little bit slow, but once I got to the incredible 10/10 four song run of good kid, m.A.A.d. city, Swimming Pools, and S.A.M.I.D.O.T, realized how good this album actually was.
