I actually enjoy this one slightly more than their second album which is not what I thought would happen. There's a lot of catchy songs on here and I thought that the more disco inspired sound suits them quite well.
There are a few boring songs on here but also some of their most fun and ambitious songs I've heard from them up until this point.
This goes harder than I expected it to go tbh.
Prljavo Kazalište (that is croatian for "Dirty Theater") was a Croatian punk rock band formed back in 1977. They are considered one of Croatia's most well known and recognizable rock bands and many of their songs are considered classics over here. Early on in their discography their music was rooted more in conventional punk rock and new wave sound, before they switched genres after they switched their frontman in 1983. After that ... read more
I'm going to see these guys live next week so I'm checking out this album to prepare for that. I've already heard their debut and enjoyed it quite a bit and while this isn't quite at that same level, it's still a pretty decent album.
I found a lot of the songs on here to be quite unmemorable if I'm being honest. Not to say that they're bad or boring, it's just that it feels like just decent indie rock for the most part. The songs overall just aren't as infectious or as catchy as the ones on ... read more
Words can not describe my love for some of the tracks on this album.
I am not sure if I am even ready to write a proper review for this but like I had to write something cause GOD DAMN I LOVE THIS ALBUM.
It's so gorgeous, the atmosphere is really pleasant, the performances are spectacular and I JUST LOVE IT!!! GO LISTEN TO IT NOW!!!!!
I honestly lowkey expected to absolutely hate this one but the Interpol fanboy inside of me prevails once again, saving this album from a score lower than a 6/10.
There are a few enjoyable songs early on in the album, but everything past 'Flight of Fancy' feels kinda boring and redundant in my opinion.
The production doesn't really pack much of a punch in most of these songs and you really don't get a sense of progression on most of these tracks. 'Flight of Fancy' is the only track on here I ... read more
I'm glad that they're making the music that they want to make, but I just found these songs to not be compelling in the slightest.
There is some nice instrumentation on "Keep It Rolling", "Blue" and "The Blood Moon", but any positivity I might've had was destroyed by Kele's dry presence as a vocalist.
Some nice moments, just not very enjoyable as a whole. I might return to "Blue" or "The Blood Moon" but I'm not even sure about that.
The quintessential rock album. Probably like the first thing people think of when they think of rock.
YEAAAAAAAAAHHHH PUSSY DESTROYING MOTHERFUCKING ROCK N ROLL!!!!!!!!!! YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!
Good riffs and performances, shit meaningless lyrics. I did have some fun listening to these, I'm just not that huge of a fan of Axl Rose's vocals.
Could be worse though. I found most of these songs to be alright. Obviously the hits were the best songs but still. This is fine.
Queens Of The Stone Age, one of the most acclaimed and beloved bands in the music rating community is back with a new album with one clear expectation from most of the fans following the band's trajectory up to this point: make a better album than 'Villains'.
And my god they have delievered. They did an amazing job on this album, it is honestly worthy of standing among their absolute best work produced in the early 2000s.
'In Times New Roman' shows what happens when a band has a clear ... read more
Much better atmosphere and instrumentation on this one compared to the last single, it's just that the vocal performance from Kele and Kenny just sound a bit awkward.
The pre-chorus with the backing vocals especially sounds really awkward and sloppy compared to the rest of the song. The basswork and guitarwork are serviceable but damn the vocals really just kinda ruin it for me.
I really like the atmosphere on this one. Will probably grow on me overtime.
This has absolutely no reason to go as hard as it does
A song about Formula 1, made by someone who probably barely even knows that Formula 1 even exists.
The Black Keys lock into a very old, kinda vintage blues rock sound on this album that, while honestly kinda nice sounding and mostly well done gets really samey after a while and just doesn't have the juice to deliver a fullfiling experience even within its short runtime.
It all starts to blend in really quickly. There are some standout tracks but for the most part, this didn't do much for me.
I do think it is very well done and I am certainly excited to hear more material from them, but it just kinda feels like it lacks the pay off at the end to make me really enjoy it. This doesn't hit that hard for me as of right now but I do enjoy it and it might grow on me before the full album releases.
