Weed: The Album (Beta pre-release version)
This was a weird listen and I am still not sure if I am quite happy with this score cause I am kind of conflicted on this. I'm genuienly unsure if this score is too harsh or to generous.
Some of these songs kick major ass. 'Thumb' is a pretty solid if a bit drawn out opener, 'Green Machine' is just incredibly catchy and probably the signature Kyuss track in my book and '50 Million Year Trip' probably has the best intro riff I have heard on a Kyuss ... read more
Somewhere in between The Killers' infectious synth filled indie rock and Interpol's early hypnotic post-punk, you have these guys.
Editors are a band that kind or went under the radar for a lot of people. They were just kind of in their own back room (ha ha) while the whole post-punk revival thing was going on. Bands like Interpol, Franz Ferdinand and The Killers were gaining popularity and this band was just kind of caught in the middle of it and got lost in the mix.
And listening to this ... read more
INTIMACY RE-REVIEW
(Basically I'm not very proud of my OG "Intimacy" review so i'm reviewing it again)
"Intimacy" is Bloc Party's bravest failure.
After "A Weekend In The City", Bloc Party decided to go all out with the electronics on their next album, hell we even get a lot of dubstep elements in some of these tracks. But, between these loud and overbearing dubstep songs we get some standard rock songs and some slower like more atmospheric tracks, so there is ... read more
Shoutout to the opener, it's a really catchy pop punk, pop rock techno thing.
Too bad the rest of the album is just overproduced filler at best.
And here we have the follow up to the massively successful “Hot Fuss”. Many consider “Hot Fuss” to be an absolute classic… Well I’m not one of those people. I didn’t think it was a bad album but I didn’t think it was all that good either. Certainly not classic material.
However, that album did have a few really good tracks, but it just wasn’t a complete or a consistent experience. Some of the production sounded just outright bad as well. ... read more
Holy shit this is so unbelievably bad. Like my expectations were pretty low but holy shit you've managed to do worse. The sound is so incredibly poor and the vocals are nasily as hell. While I had issues with Billy''s vocals on some of the other songs I've heard from this band, this is just another level of bad.
The production sounds like this was slapped together in an afternoon.
This isn't an album. This is a torture mechanism designed to test the very limit of human patience.
Best song: ... read more
The heavier parts are pretty good but the verses don't do much for me.
Decent song though, makes me consider revisiting Intimacy...
Get it guys? Do you get the joke? Do you see what I did there? Can you see the genius radiating off of my head?
Forgetable.
Boring.
Bland.
In one ear, out the other.
Up and down.
Inconsistant.
Yeah sounds like the Muse people have come to dislike in 2010s. This is a clear step down from their previous efforts. It does have a few good tracks, nothing too memorable or as good as the previous albums but nonetheless they're there.
Honestly I just thought that this was a watered down Black Holes And Revelations and that album was a watered down Absolution which in itself was kind of a streamlined Origin Of ... read more
I know, it's a dated cringy meme, but it's also an actually kind of fun song
Feels like it's here where they established the formula for all of the stuff they have made since this album.
Most of my complaints about this album are shared with their new album as the production style and the formula is pretty similar there.
Kind of makes me understand the mixed response of the new album a bit more, as it seems that Interpol hasn't taken much of a step forward stylistically and production vise in the 7 years it has been since this album.
