I can see they are trying to put some variations here and there and it is quite obvious there are a couple of good musicians making things a bit more interesting, but this is so incredible predictable, it is the same idea once and again. Maybe you can say the same for most of the music we have been hearing the last 50 years and happens that it is just not my cup of tea. I would love to hear a couple of experts explaining what it is the special thing with this release.
"Winter Power"
He is good.
Review soon... maybe
I really love her music but in terms of musical approach she is playing so incredibly safe in every single album that it is almost meaningless if she does something new or she does not. Enjoyable as usual but no more than that.
These guys never recovered themselves from the Brian Eno effect (I know He is not producing this one). They are totally clueless. It is sad, they should comeback to their Parachutes thing.
The "wild mercury sound"
There are not many double albums you can say are near to perfection, but Blonde On Blonde certainly is one of them. It is not only one of the first ever rock double album recorded (long discussion regarding that point by the way and the thing finally depends on what do you define as rock and if you believe on the release date usually cited but probably wrong) but is also the pinnacle and final album of Bob Dylan’s 60s electric trilogy.

I have so many good memories with The Offspring music. Why are you doing this to us guys? It is even difficult to write something about this record without just trashing it, but this is so painfully mediocre.
They have never been an amazing pack of musicians but at some point of their career they definitely had tons of soul, and soul is precisely what I can't find in this album, everything is so artificial, the vocals (I mean, really, what happened with the vocals here? Is it the mix? Is ... read more
It all started as a vomit.
Going from folk to electric it was not easy for Bob. I certainly do not know how much he suffered with it, but for sure he was super tired. He changed not because it was the next thing to do, he changed because he needed to change. If you want to put it in simple words, he desperately ran away from the folk world (but not necessarily from its music) and from his own folk incarnation.
“Highway 61 Revisited” is the middle album from his 60s trilogy, the ... read more
Just a couple of thoughts about this one.
Generally I love punk rock records (I mean 90s punk rock, because nowadays punk-rock is more punk-pop than anything, which is ok, but it is certainly different) but I usually have problems with how these types of bands decide to age. The most terrible example is of course Green Day being a bunch of guys living their late 40s singing like they were teenagers which makes them totally hard to believe in. In that sense I like when the bands decide to age ... read more
Dylan sells his soul to the electric rock devil... half of it at least.
If during “Another Side Of Bob Dylan” Bob changed his lyrical interest to a more personal topic rather than socio political ones, in “Bringing It All Back Home” he changed his musical identity in a move that was as bold as controversial. Nothing would be the same again for him, maybe some things came back later in his catalog for sure but his identity as an artist changed forever.

If I have to say what I think is the most relevant strength of “The Freewheelin’” I should probably say it is its amazing balance. It is not a protest album, it is not a romantic one too but it has a little bit of both and also has the clarity to add a precise quote of humor when the things are getting too dark, which makes this record an album for any day of the year.
This was a huge step for Dylan, He was 21 year old while He was recording the album and He had a lot of ... read more
Last album Dylan made playing the role of the protest singer. Actually if there was a time when he really was “The voice of a generation” this album marks that time.
“The Times…” is not an easy record. In my opinion this is not the album to start with Dylan. With no question has some amazing lyrics, but the mood is so incredibly dark and monochromatic (even the cover is warning you about it even before you start playing the record) that it could be difficult to ... read more
Wow, what a ride! They were not kidding when they said this album was Dylan's last great comeback (let's agree that after this record he has no real low releases from where to comeback again anyway).
Anyway, this is not a perfect album, but my god, it is so full of great moments. The amount of moods is not hugely diverse but the intensities are perfectly worked, here Dylan goes from the most tender ballads to the deepest darkness in a way that it is not only believable but also makes you ... read more
I am trying to process this and it is not as simple as it could appear. I have listen SOAD for many years and I have also discretely followed Serj solo projects and I have never been a big follower of either but I must recognize the guy is a relevant figure and his trademark (and his partner trademark to be fair) is there, it is impossible to deny their impact as a musical brand, certainly an interesting and challenging musical brand .
Serj solo projects have been a bit erratic but you can ... read more
I have been listening to this record for decades and unfortunately, there are not many remarkable things that I can say about it. I know it was a significant period for Bob's life and definitely a twist in Dylan’s musical approach. I know it was released just after he became a father (and after the motorcycle accident that nobody knows if it was real or just a trick to run away) and I also know about all the biblical references spread all over the lyrics but for some reason this ... read more
I am not a follower of Rob Zombie but I would be lying if I say I have never enjoyed one of his songs. The guy is fun, the riffs are most of the time quite contagious and He knows how to mix industrial metal with other styles and even makes the offer danceable.
In this opportunity there are not big surprises to be honest but I must say that at least in terms of energy this album is for sure a step forward compared with “The Electric Warlock Acid Witch Satanic Orgy Celebration ... read more
No more finger pointing songs people… or as Dylan would say “I was so much older then, I’m younger than that now”.
This is probably the biggest “hinge” album of Dylan's career. It is difficult to think and analyze this release without thinking about its meaning. This set of songs were much more than another album for Bob Dylan, here is when He decided to cut his bond with the political folk world, here is when He said “I am not your voice” ... read more
A kind of a sophomore album if you can call it like that for an artist with such a huge catalog before this period. “Love and Theft” (released on the disgraceful 09/11/2001) was the successor of Dylan's last great comeback and of course had all the eyes looking at it. The good thing was that as usual Dylan did not care about it and He just did what He wanted to do, with remarkable results.
One of the many things you can say about “Love and Theft” is that in some way it ... read more
Bob returned to his shell.
It is impossible not to think of Desire as the album published just after Blood On The Tracks. There are obvious relations between these two records, almost like some type of action reaction balance, being "Blood On The Tracks" the most confessional heart open album Dylan has released in his whole career and "Desire" his immediate comeback to the shadows, as someone who needs to be hidden after such a vulnerability exercise.
The impression ... read more
Trying to choose an album for my 100th review was not an easy task, I am a big follower (probably as everybody here) of a large bunch of bands and certainly many of them deserve to be reviewed, but unfortunately I am a slow writer so for now they are going to have to wait.
Why “Los Tr3s”? Because it is an amazing band, probably the most relevant band coming from Chile during the nineties and also because many of you have not had the opportunity to know about them. And that ... read more
I am a big Dylan follower (that’s the reason why I am actually trying to organize my thoughts regarding his catalog) but this album is kind of a puzzle for me. I do not know if the precise word is disappointment, but there is something in this record that does not fit for me.
I can clearly see why it is so easy to love this album. Part of its charm is that if you are a Dylanist you are going to be trapped by all the mysticism surrounding this record (songs where “hidden” for ... read more
